Nursing Services – Related Service
Check your case load names with the nurse Students with IEPs and who have IHPs
– Add Nursing Services as a related service by calling a meeting or doing an amendment to the IEP
– Attach a copy of the IHP to the IEP packet (IHP MUST be in the ESE file)

Expectations of Case Managers
1. Provide IEP info to all teachers and others who “need to know”
2. Annual reviews due on student birthdates
3. Document at least 2 attempts to invite parents to participate
4. Call special reviews
5. Bring a draft copy of the IEP to every IEP meeting.*

6. Update present levels for each IEP meeting
7. Include functional assessment in the present levels
8. A new IEP is required at each re-evaluation
9. Complete an ACTION Form for all IEP meetings and actions

Parent Requests
School describes and asks cooperation in the child taking part in the school’s intervention process
Can’t hold up a parent request to do an evaluation if they don’t agree to the interventions
In almost all cases, interventions will have to be implemented WHILE the evaluation is being done

Parentally placed students who qualify have the opportunity to participate, but have no individual right to SpEd or Related Services.
RHSD3 is required to use a proportionate share of our federal funding to provide services.– between 1 and 2 hours per week per child

What Teachers Need to Know about Service Plans
RHSD3 procedures (Private School/Home School Students) and Service Plan (green)
Student should be entered in EXCENT, but Service Plan is not in EXCENT.
Charter Schools ARE NOT private schools– CAH is our responsibility (IEPs)– YPA and Virtual Charter School is the responsibility
of the SC Charter School District
