Summer is officially here:
It is hard to believe how fast
the summer months are flying
by. Here we are entering
some of the hottest days of
the year and most humid. It is
way too hot to even be out-
side so I am reiterating the
fact that you all need to watch out for the heat when
you are outside to avoid heat stroke or sun poison-
ing. There are plenty of activities and events that
can be enjoyed in the air-conditioning or for brief
periods of time outside. Drink plenty of water and
apply sunscreen often. It’s a great time of the year
to travel to a much cooler area if you are able to. Be sure to check the events calendar and check the bulletin board in the WWS Club-house for event details and sign-up sheets.
Have a great summer! Donna ♥
Right in Your Own Backyard
There are so many things to see & do in Florida. Our featured area to visit this month is:
Pensacola, Florida
Pensacola is one of our favorite places to visit for a long weekend or even a week. There is so much to see & do in that area alone or enjoy a short drive to Alabama for a few great places to go. Go watch the Blue Angels practice which is as good as any of their shows or go to Fort Pickens which is located on the National Seashore in Pensacola and visit a piece of History. continued on page 3

August Birthstone – Peridot
Peridot is found in shades of light green or greenish - gold. Myths
associate the gem with nature goddesses and warding off night-
mares. Those born with this stone tend to be very friendly and talkative, and have inner strength and
confidence.
August will start our fall growing season so rip out
the old and let's get started again.
After getting rid of the old remember to amend
your soil. Fluffy soil is best so fluff it up.
Here are some fall and winter suggestions:
1. Okra
2. peas
3. Sweet potatoes
4. Spinach
Don't forget your
herbs! They can be
started any time here
in zone 9.
We can really grow just
any thing anytime of
the year in zone 9.
HAPPY GARDENING

A Note from your HOA President
Just a reminder that we are still under a water drought for Citrus County. That means we can only water once a week, until further notice.
Also management has decided to contain the alligators, so be respectful of their efforts.
I want to thank all the volunteers who came out and made the 4th of July a success. It was so nice to see some of the new people in the community. The food was great, company was good and everyone enjoyed the pool.
We are still having Jingle on Monday nights @ 6:30pm. Enjoy the rest of your summer.
Our first board meeting is September 5th @ 6:00pm at the clubhouse and the HOA Members meeting is September 12th @ 7:00pm at the clubhouse

July 4th Celebration We had a great turn out for the Fourth of July Celebration Luncheon & Pool Party. There were 32 people who signed up but 45 people actually came to the event. We had plenty of food for all!!! Bill Starkey came for lunch and even some of our newest residents came. The clubhouse was decorated really beautiful and looked so good. The Social Committee, Charlotte Johnson, Marge McKeever, & Kandi Fullerton helped with the set-up and many of our community women helped with the clean-up after. A BIG thanks to Sandy John-son for organizing & hosting this event and all the volunteers who helped. Also thanks to all the great cooks who shared their dishes. They were delish! It couldn’t happen without you all.
Golf Cart Contest: Diane and Steve Harralson came in 1st - Bill and Kandi Fullerton received 2nd place - Gin-ger and John Bunner received 3rd place, Lisa Dubay got 4th place and Patty Owen 5th place. Thanks to all who participated and voted. (pictures are in no particular order)

Pensacola is the site of the Vietnam Veterans' Wall South. There are a number of historical military installations from the Civil War, including Fort Barrancas. Fort Pickens served as a temporary prison for Geroni-mo. There is the National Naval Aviation Museum and Pensacola Light-house at NAS Pensacola.
The Navel Base is open to the public and you should try to schedule your trip while the Blue Angels are there - for schedule visit

For history buffs, the Seashore offers a unique look into the military significance of Pensacola going back before the American Revolution. Explore three forts designed to fortify Pensacola Harbor – Fort Pickens, Fort Barrancas and Fort McRee – all are included within the Gulf Islands National Seashore and administered by the National Park Service.
Gulf Islands National Seashore
Miles of white sand beaches and emerald waters, untouched eco-systems and historic sites make Gulf Island National Seashore the “Best Beach in Florida.”

July’s Dinner Out On Thursday - July 20th a large group from our WWS community went to Zig Zag Scallops Restaurant in
Hernando Beach for dinner. It was wonderful that 33 people were able to attend and enjoy the evening.
The food was great & the time visiting with each other was very special. Everyone had a GREAT time!
A huge thank you from everyone to Charlotte Johnson for arranging this event!
