The Lane County Women Lawyers and the University of Or-egon Law School’s Child and Family Law Association will host 2 hours of Ethics, 1 hour of Elder Abuse Reporting, and 3 hours of Access to Justice CLEs on Friday, November 13, 2015. The LCBA Employment Law Section and the LCBA New Law-yers Section are pleased to host a joint brown-bag CLE. Jonathan Mishkin, a Portland-based tax attorney and University of Oregon adjunct instructor of law in taxation, will give a presentation on “Tips for Practicing in Tax Court,” a primer on tax court procedures and related matters that will be of interest both to new attorneys interested in tax court practice and experienced litigators who are unfamiliar with the unique aspects of practicing in tax court. The presentation will take place on August 13, at 12:00 p.m., at the Board of Commissioners Conference Room in the Lane County Public Service Building located at 125 E 8th Ave. in Eugene. (The room is on the upper-level of the Public Service Building, next to County Administration.) One hour of general CLE credit will be applied for. Governor Brown Names New Lane County District Attorney
Governor Kate Brown announced on Thursday, July 30, 2015, that she named Patty Perlow as Lane County’s first female District Attorney. Ms. Perlow fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Lane County District Attorney Alex Gardner, who accepted a position as captain and director to the Oregon State Police Forensic Services Division. Both Ms. Perlow and Mr. Gardner begin their new positions on August 1, 2015. Erik Hasselman will serve as the Chief Deputy District Attorney. LCBA MEMBERSHIP—RENEW NOW!
