L: Let silent tongues find a new voice,
P: Let words arise from a deep place,
L: For our God is an awesome God,
P: Who sees the poor and forgotten,
L: Who notices the homeless and cares for the hungry,
P: Who aches at the harm done to one another and the earth. L: Let us speak out for justice,
P: Keeping the flames of compassion burning.
L: Let us sing out a hopeful song,
P: Our deeds matching our chorus.
L: Let our voices soar in praise,
P: Singing in the midst of troubles, singing because we trust God’s Spirit.
Prayer of Confession (Offered by all)
Loving God, your love extends beyond our comfortable boundaries, and you
never stop reaching out so that all of creation may know your love and grace.
But, we confess we draw the circle small in order to keep others out. We
wrongly think that we can only relate to those most like ourselves. Still, you
remind us that all of us are in need of your forgiveness, and that you died for
sinners and the righteous. Forgive us, we pray, that our pride and arrogance
blocks your flow of blessing, and help us to see you in the eyes of the stranger,
those from different lands, the child, those who are battered, and those who
are dying. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.

The Prayer Jesus taught Us
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil,
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
forever. Amen.
