On July 29 members of the Board of Direc-tors gathered at Yavapai Col-lege Prescot t Valley for their annual strategic planning retreat. Chairman Chris Graff opened the meeting and Director Meredith Dunlap started things off with an inspi-rational message.

At the forefront of the discussion were Covid-19 and its impact on our busi-

ness com-munity. The current eco-nomic situ-a t i o n w a s analyzed and while businesses are open, cus-tomer/consumer confidence is still low. That along with the Gover-nor’s guidelines/restrictions puts our business community at a tre-mendous disadvantage.

Director Jim Cabral summed it up very eloquently; we need to “Build on the Basics.” We need to find out what our members want/need and then look to how we can provide for them. It will

be a multi-layered plan starting with data gather-ing with one-on-one con-versations, a survey and focus group.

The program of work will consist of assessments, strategies, goals and ac-tion items. We are very proud of our board of directors who are stepping up and each, individually, are committed to implementing this aggressive plan.

The Strategic Plan will be finalized on August 20 and posted on our web-site pvchamber.org.

Here we are in August and still things are crazy. We continue to promote and support our busi-ness community as they have had to make hard and in some cases unpopular decisions. It is important to understand that they must follow executive orders and health department requirements in order to stay open. I am sure each of our businesses would love to go back to January and the economy we were experiencing then. Please be patient and kind. We really are all in this together and together we will get through it! Shop Local, Support Local, Stay Local!

Join us for fun in the sun at our annual Pronghorn Golf Tournament on Saturday, August 22 at the Prescott Golf Club starting at 8 a.m.. We are following health department guidelines so the tournament may look a little different but will still be a fun way to enjoy time with friends and your business circle as we navigate the beautiful course at the Prescott Golf Club. It will be a four-person scramble with a shotgun start. There will be two hole-in-one opportunities, a betting hole and prizes for closest to the pin and longest drive and a bbq grilled lunch. Registrations are now being taken and we have had to limit our players so get yours in now. Call Gloria at the chamber 928-772-8857 or visit pvchamber.org.
