Humanitari- an organizations provided multi-sectoral support to the new arrivals, and a large number of the IDPs were received in the two NGO-run reception centers in north-western Syria. In the eastern countryside of Hama Governorate, hostilities between ISIL and GoS forces intensified in Oqeirbat sub-district, trapping thousands of civilians in Al-Adeeb valley area and another location to the southwest of it. Out of desperation, civilians tried to cross the frontlines to reach north-western Syria, which resulted in several incidents where civilians were killed, wounded or detained. In Eastern Ghouta, hostilities continued in the Faylaq Al-Rahman held parts of the besieged enclave despite the ceasefire agreement that was reached between Faylaq Al-Rahman and the Russian Federation on 16 August. By and large, heavy clashes in Jobar neighbourhood in Damascus city as well as Ein Terma town in Eastern Ghouta continued unabated during the reporting period. In eastern Syria, large displacement was reported from Maadan sub-district in the eastern countryside of Ar-Raqqa Governorate, due to heavy clashes between ISIL and GoS forces. Towards of the end of the month, hostilities in the western countryside of Deir Ez-zor Governorate intensified as GoS forces continued their push to break the ISIL-enforces siege on GoS-held neighbourhoods in Deir Ez-zor city, which started three years ago.
