Hello Readers, We are happy to share our most recent pic-ture taken at The Landing in Jacksonville. For those of you whom have never been to this location it is well worth the visit. The Landing is right on the St. Johns river...one of the few rivers in the USA that runs north. Live enter-tainment in the square on weekends, a great choice of locations to eat from Irish to Hoot-ers. There are river taxes, a sky way and a whole lot more ways to get around. Sons of Anarchy coming to Gator Harley-Davidson...what a treat. The TV Program has been going on for many years now with a large biker viewing audience. This is an event I will not miss. See pages 28-29 for more in-formation. It is time to get your rooms booked for Phil Peterson’s Key West Poker Run dates Septem-ber 18-21 see full page ad on page 2. This is one more fun, wild, crazy party that you will never forget…the Thursday Duval Crawl should be something to be a part of...Duval Street is lined with Motorcycles as far as you can see...for the most part business’s never close. If you have a room, park your bike and WALK. Starke Bikefest is in October this year. See page 14. Our next months issue will feature a full page. Please take the time to read each page care-fully, you do not want to miss out on some fantastic happenings this month. Hark * Push

Two Decades And One Year Congratulations to Gator Harley-Davidson for Twenty One years of doing business in Leesburg. I remember many years ago when John Sr. Malik was still living telling me he came to Florida from Chicago to buy a Harley-Davidson Dealership. He looked at a few loca-tions and the family decided on Leesburg. He was told by one local dealer “You will never make it in Lees-burg” Little did that dealer know who he was talking with because not only was John Malik Sr. strong willed...the whole family was just like him. I am sure there were times when Arlene...John Sr's wife had to slow him down.

In the beginning the family had a small dealership about a half mile south of where the new dealership sits today. I used to visit that dealership on a weekly bases. I became very close to the family and trusted my Harley’s I had bought over the years with them and never found disappointment. Even when I was in a serious accident in 2003 the dealership came to my rescue picking up my 100th Anniversary Harley after it was nearly wrapped around a telephone pole. I was out of the riding business for over seven months...when the day came for me to get back to riding John Jr. told me I should try out the Road Glide...that is all I have ridden since. These days Gator Harley-Davidson continues to lead the area in support of veterans and other causes. Dur-ing Leesburg Bikefest they provide parking areas for those who want to catch a bus to the downtown area and back. The service department is headed up by Mike Williams who has been working on Harley’s as long as I can remember...he is almost like a perma-nent fixture at the dealership. John Jr’s brother Steve has managed the parts department from the 1st day the dealership took charge 21 years ago. Little John...John Jr’s son is now full time at the dealership learning from ground up...presently working in ser-vice, we can all pretty much be assured one day he will take the big desk away from his father upstairs where the door nearly always stays open.

The Anniversary Party was an absolute blast...Big En-gine took stage on Saturday and drew a whale of a crowd. Leesburg Partnership handled all the vendors giving a great variety. The rest is pictures because I could write a book about how great this dealership is...to the Maliks...thank you so much for all the years of FUN. More Pictures Page 8 Hark

CARPENTER, WILLIAM KYLE Rank: Lance Corporal Organization: U.S. Marine Corps Company: Company F, 2d Battalion Division: 9th Marines Born: 17 October, 1989, Flowood, MS Departed: No Entered Service At: Columbia, SC Date of Issue: 06/19/2014 Accredited To: South Carolina Place / Date: November 21, 2010, Marjah District, Helmand Province, Afghanistan Citation Medal Of Honor For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty while serving as an Automatic Rifleman with Company F, 2d Battalion, 9th Marines, Regimental Combat Team 1, 1st Marine Division (Forward), 1 Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward), in Hel-mand Province, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom on 21 November 2010. Lance Corporal Carpenter was a member of a platoon-sized coalition force, comprised of two reinforced Marine squads partnered with an Afghan National Army squad. The platoon had es-tablished Patrol Base Dakota two days earlier in a small village in the Marjah District in order to disrupt enemy activity and provide security for the local Afghan population. Lance Corporal Car-penter and a fellow Marine were manning a rooftop security position on the perimeter of Patrol Base Dakota when the enemy initiated a daylight attack with hand grenades, one of which landed inside their sandbagged position. Without hesitation, and with complete disregard for his own safety, Lance Corporal Carpenter moved toward the grenade in an attempt to shield his fellow Marine from the deadly blast. When the grenade detonated, his body absorbed the brunt of the blast, severely wounding him, but saving the life of his fellow Marine. By his undaunted courage, bold fighting spirit, and unwavering devotion to duty in the face of almost certain death, Lance Corporal Carpenter reflected great credit upon himself and upheld the highest tra-ditions of the Marine Corps and the United States Naval Service.

New Zealand...A Hidden Treasure

Like most of you I am always looking for some-where different to ride. My good friend Gary lives in Christchurch New Zealand where presently it is winter. The four seasons in New Zealand are as follows. Summer December-February. Au-tumn March-May. Winter June-August and Spring September-November. The pictures that are a part of this article are primarily from the Christchurch-Canterbury. The area is located in the middle of the South Island, Canterbury is easily accessible by air and sea. Motorcycle Rentals should be made well in advance. They are available individually for any length of time. All rentals at the Rolling Thunder Motor Com-pany in Christchurch include insurance and there is no mileage charge. If your looking for a safe vacation this is the place to go...the police in Christchurch do not even carry a gun. Hope you enjoy all the beautiful pictures...Hark

Riding SOB Sometimes you just need to veer off of your nor-mal, everyday route and take a different road for a change. Well this month I’m going to make a wide, sweeping turn and go off on a rant….. Is it just me, or does it seem like the country we all grew up in and love, along with the rest of the world, is just collapsing all around us? Every where you look around the world - Russia, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Afghanistan, and on and on - the world is just in chaos. And what do we do? The good old USA. The greatest country in the world. Pretty much nothing any more. The spoiled brats are throwing tantrums and we just look the other way….. And here at home every time you turn around it’s another scandal - the IRS, Ben-ghazi, health care, the courts rewriting laws, the President overstepping his Constitutional limits, our joke of a southern border being overrun - and this list goes on and on too. And what hap-pens? Our so-called leaders express fake out-rage, they vow to get to the bottom of the prob-lem, and then they forget about it. That’s proba-bly the worst of all - nobody is really account-able, nobody takes real responsibility, and no-body pays any price for the crimes they commit.

….. Speaking of scandals, what about the VA and the way we are treating our Vets? Couple of weeks ago it was all over the news. Now you don’t hear anything about it. As far as I can tell nothing has been done to fix the problem. This isn’t just political either. Everyone on both sides of the political isle should be outraged that this has happened and everyone in government, no matter the party, should be ashamed because they all have been a part of letting this happen! This is a problem that someone needs to fix right now. We can‘t let this be another scandal that gets swept under the rug and forgotten about!….. OK, I feel better now - well not really. I’ve gotten it all off my chest, but it’s all still out there. We can bitch and complain but nothing really changes for the better. Until we all get to-gether and remind our government that they work for us and we are not subjects of theirs, then nothing will ever get better.….. Now I really need to get out on the road- a little two wheeled therapy - maybe stop and have a drink. Until next month, you know where I’ll be - out there on the back roads and bar stools of Central Flor-ida! -Brad

Chuckles Bones Birthday Party Happy Birthday to our old friend Chuckle Bones who just turned 77. What a great turn out with tons of food and awesome friends. We were privileged to have live music provided by Local Traffic and as an added attraction we also got to listen to another old friend, Wayne Hooper, who writes and sings his own songs. Once again, HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRO. and a great turn out for the “7 Brothers”. Duke

Party in Paradise On July 5th the party was on at the Paradise Lounge on Hwy 441 with The Gator Paw Band, lots of cold beverages and free food for all to en-joy. Even with the rain there was a great turn out. If you’ve never been there you just head out of Ocala going north on Hwy 441, the lounge is on the right hand side just before the 441/301 split, you can get just about everything you need there, gas, convenience store and of course Paradise Lounge, sort of one stop does it all. Great party hole, stop in and see for yourself. Always plenty of bike parking. Rebel Rider Duke

Out And About In July I am sitting at home bored on a Saturday and get a call from some friends who have ridden down from St. Augustine to hang out at the Lake Harris Hideaway...Now! This is a great excuse to head out to one of the best biker hang-outs in the State of Florida. Some of you who may have never been to this place should know...if your not a biker...you can join in on the fun….come by boat, plane, car or bike it does not matter. The Hideaway is a great hang out for anyone. The rest is pictures. Hark

Fund Raiser For Ryder Medlin Family I would think few things could be more difficult for a family then to lose a your child...when things like this happen the Rebel Rider Magazine family wants to do all we can to help promote what ever is being done to help the family. In early July Ryder Medlin apparently lost control of the vehicle he was driving on Highway 46 and lost his life. It is not up to us to judge what might have gone wrong...it is up to us to CARE about such a tragic loss. Little Lake Harris Pub in Astatula open their doors for a great event with live entertainment, food, door prices, 50/50 and donations to do all they could do to help the family of Ryder. I was simply amazed at the turn out of people who cared so much. There is little a person can say about something like this that can make things better...I think those who showed up to support the family pretty much tell it all about love and compassion. The rest is pic-tures on this page and page 19.

Pug’s Pub Nine Year Anniversary Congratulations to Patti owner of Pug’s Pub in Eustis for providing a great place for bikers and all to come hang out and enjoy great entertain-ment food and fun on her 9th Anniversary. I ar-rived early and watched the business pack out. There is something about FREE FOOD that is be-ing cooked outside on a BBQ Grill, then add to that the prices you pay for beverages you find it hard to put a dent in a $20 dollar bill. I can’t say enough for Pug’s Pub and the fun a person can have making this one of your regular stops. The rest is pictures...Hark

Bike Night at the 100 Proof Saloon Here we go again…….. Another wet bike night! This is the forth bike night in a row that it has rained. We all still had fun even though it poured down rain. 100 Proof has an outside bar set up for bike nights and special events they also have food to go along with your favorite beverage and it’s a full liquor bar. Next time you are cruising thru Ocala on 441 stop in, have a drink, some grub and say hi to Dave, Mimi and the rest of the fine folks who frequent the bar. Always plenty of bike parking, located just north of town on the right hand side, look for the big 4-wheel drive truck. Rebel Rider Duke

Planning Our Vacations Hello Readers...Push and I have been doing a lot of dreaming lately about what we will do on our next vacation. As many of you know I am retired Army which gives Push and I a lot of great op-portunity. For others reading this that are retired military or thinking about joining the service we hope this article will clue you in on some awe-some opportunities that we retired service mem-bers have. This all started from something I get in the mail called Army Echo’s which goes out to all retired service members bringing us up to date on things going on that might effect us. As I was reading through the booklet I found an area that brought up the subject of catching flights to some really cool spots in the world for under $30 bucks a person…places like Italy, Ha-waii, Germany, Japan, Alaska and the list goes on. Then because of my experience of serving many years I remembered nearly every military base in the world has what is called guest hous-ing, after looking locations up I found rates any-where from $60 a night in some locations to as high as $120 in others. For those of you whom might be interested in us sharing some of the information we have found please email me at [email protected] Moving forward with this subject. I was out and about in July just looking around when I came upon this sign below.

I had been by this sign hundreds of times and never took the time to check the area out. I was headed back from Pirates Pub in Paisley so I made a right hand turn off CR 42 just about a mile from the city limits. You come to a guard gate where here is a small charge to come in for the day...or you can do both Primitive Camping, bring a Motor Home or Pull Behind Trailer. This is

a very relaxed type location where you can rent a canoe or go fishing all you want. The lake is spring fed so swim all you want. On location there are places to shower and rest rooms. Plain and simple...this is an awesome Hide-A-Way.

Now for the dreams of a lifetime and how to find those hide outs where few can find you. Out of all the places in the USA Alaska probably is my favorite. Chugach National Forrest is on my list of places I want to make a return visit to, The forestry division of Alaska has cabins they rent out, many of them are located on some of the finest salmon fishing rivers in the world, if you think this is for you make sure and put your name in the hat for a cabin at least 180 days in advance. Again, we have all the information you need by emailing [email protected] Next subject is a secret that no one ever talks about...you really have to wonder why >>> Continued on page 26.

Continued from page 25>>> One of Americas best kept secrets when it comes to finding that right Get-Away is called A Room With A View! These are American lookouts that have a rich history deeply tied to our nations legacy. In the 1940’s nearly 4,000 fire lookouts were built in our national forests across the country. Today nearly 900 of those look outs are still active. If you like adventure and like playing lookout these sites can be rented for about $30 to $50 per night. Keep in mind, these look outs are small...about 12 X 15 . Most lookouts have heat, cooking utensils, table and chairs and beds. Start at firelookout.org/lookout-rentals.com The rest is pictures. Above Picture is actually a cabin on top of a mountain in Idaho called Deadwood. This is a fully stocked cabin that is 14 X 14 in size. The rest of the pictures on the right hand side of this page are from the Chugach National Forrest in Alaska. Again...if you ever decide to make the trip to Alaska book a cabin way in advance.

Out And About With Roybn Here's hoping your Independence Day was a great one. July was a hot & wet month for us Floridians, but that didn't stop us from getting the bikes out & enjoying our favorite past-time. This past month I got to attend a few events, notably: the Citrus County Foster Parents 5th Annual "Stuff the Backpack" on July 12, spon-sored by Harley-Davidson of Crystal River, to help the kids get ready for the 2014-15 school year. Even with the rains, coming in like clock-work, the community pulled together & donated enough to start these kids off right. There was a DJ, free food, free beer, & lots of great folks helping. A special thanks to the Legion Riders of Beverly Hills who show up & donate so much in their community. I got to see the new H-D 500, H-D is using them now for the rider's endorse-ment class & a few of the new 2014-15 line up. Then off to Vicious Cycle's 4th Anniversary Party & Open House. Dan, the owner, put on a great party. Beer, bike wash babes, bike show (w/trophies Dan made himself-coolest I've seen), live band, 50/50's, raffles, & great food!! Again, the rains came, but that didn't dampen the party spirit. As we watched the clouds roll in, all we could think of is "wet 'T' time"!! Thanks to all

that help support our community, hope to see you In The Wind, With Big Grins!!-robyn Today's Mighty Oak is Yesterday's Nut that Held It's Ground!!!! More Pix Page 31

We’re not really saying good bye to Char but good bye to Chars Bar, yep, after over seven years the doors will be closed and sorely missed. This will be a new chapter in her and Papa Bear’s life, it’s called retirement and a well deserved one. Francee Checks out Allman Brothers tribute band

I was lucky enough to get tickets to the Savanna Center Theater in The Villages, June 30th to check out Florida's Premier Tribute to the Allman Brothers Band. 'TROUBLE NO MORE'. It was an exciting concert from beginning to end with the band performing all of my favorite ABB tunes. The nearly sold out crowd was ecstatic, giving the band several standing ovations throughout the evening. The venue was the perfect place to catch this concert as the sound and lighting crews did a wonderful job presenting the band. Being a representative of this fine, reputable magazine, I was invited backstage after the show to meet these talented musicians and had a great time. I found out they not only perform

at cultural art theaters, but also do all kinds of events including bike shows, festivals and corpo-rate events. I strongly suggest anyone looking for a top notch tribute act should check out TROUBLE NO MORE at their website www.troublenomorefl.com and enjoy the show.

PATRIOTIC SOULS MC DOING GOOD THINGS

This past month has been busy for us in the Pa-triotic Souls MC. Between enjoying the Hawaiian weather, finding excuses to mount the scoots, and lately, helping the community. Earlier in June, we all got together to host a car wash for the Wounded Warrior Project. This organization assists those that were injured or adversely af-fected by operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. And let me tell ya, this was no typical turn out. We had all types of clubs come out to support, veterans needing their cages washed, and all types of folks just wanting to donate. At the end of the day, we raised $1700 toward the founda-tion. Not bad for a bunch of ugly bikers standing on the side of the road shirtless with our fingers in our belly buttons. (Try sleeping after that) The next community event we did was a visit to the local Veterans Affairs clinic to drop off sup-plies and spend time with the vets. About 30-40 us got on our scoots and headed out to Tripler Army Hospital and had a good visit with the vets there. We all broke up and spoke

with whomever we ran across. I was fortunate enough to speak with a retired Army infantry-man. Turns out he and I served in the same ar-eas in Iraq at the same time. Was an honor to speak with him about our service out there. The visit was over and in typical Hawaiian fashion, the weather permitted for us to wrap up the day with a lunch ride. Unfortunately, we have to ride the interstate to get just about anywhere. It's all good, though, because the road captains in this MC have their stuff together. Between the looky-loos and rental car tourists encroaching our formation, we all managed to stay tight. If you weren't a good rider prior to living in Hawaii, you'll leave here a pro! Since this island is dang near perfect riding weather every day, it's safe to assume I'm going to have an endless summer for the next three years. So standby for more tales of charity and shenanigans from paradise. Cue the Beach Boys. Aloha yall! More Pictures Page 39 * 40 * 41 Duty * Honor * Country U-Turn

BIKER CONSIGNMENT CELEBRATES THREE YEARS

It’s been three years now since MJ and Bob Boyer opened Biker Consignment and Gift Shop on Fair-banks in Winter Park. So, to mark the occasion they invited everyone to come by on Saturday, July 12th to help celebrate. Rain was in the forecast but luckily it held off for most of the day, which was a good thing because there was a steady stream of bikes coming in and out all day. The party was set to start at 12:00, but MJ said there were people waiting at the door when she got there at 10:00. There were hot dogs, music and drinks, including plenty of beer. It was a good time relaxing and meeting new people. Biker Consignment is truly a locally and biker owned and operated business. Like the name says, it is a consignment shop so inventory changes daily and you never know what you’re going to find, new and used, all at a great price. Congratulations MJ and Bob on three successful years and a wish for many more to come. More Pic-tures Page 43. -Brad
