Welcome to SUPER WEEK

Effective Instruction and Literacy

8:00-11:00 a.m. or 12:00-3:00 p.m.

To support our journey of implementing the state Content Standards, we will continue to focus on providing professional

development sessions which support listening, speaking reading, writing and language as we know our Literacy standards

provide framework of the skills students will acquire and develop around complex text.

During SuperWeek all teachers will have opportunities to build their capacity by: reinforcing the Pre K-12 Eff`ective Instruction

(EI) model, working collaboratively with curriculum, focusing on student performance, and using common assessments.

Sessions hosted this week will provide secondary teachers with the tools and resources that have been developed to support

effective implementation of the Content Standards in the coming year. All teachers have the opportunity to attend professional

development sessions specific to their content area, with lessons anchored in Effective Instruction, informed by the Literacy

Framework, and embedded with language supports that increase accessibility for English Learners.

Strategies to Effectively Implement Content Standards

8:00-11:00 a.m. or 12:00-3:00 p.m.

Sessions throughout Super Week are designed to support teachers with strategies to integrate the Content Standards and Literacy

Standards into their daily instruction, curriculum, and assessments. Teachers are provided the opportunity to select focused

professional development sessions that address objective writing, checking for understanding, quality questioning, and academic

language acquisition, along with specific tools and resources to address the literacy focus and demands of the State Standards.

Instructional Technology Combining Instructional Technology and Effective Instruction

8:00-11:00 a.m. or 12:00-3:00 p.m.

As we continue to dive deeper into the state standards, we see that technology is embedded throughout them, and the standards

expect students to demonstrate technological skills at all grade levels. During the week, teachers will have the opportunity to

explore a range of technology offerings that support their specific content, as well as help our students meet the technology

expectations and rigor of the state standards. These offerings range from learning best practices for managing and setting up a

technology integrated classroom environment to advanced offerings that explore how technology can be leveraged within the

context of pedagogy and content.
