Men’s Ministry

Men, Let’s Plan To Take Our Wives to the ENCCMF Banquet on August 28 The annual “ladies night” for the Eastern North Carolina Christian Men’s Fellowship is Friday evening, August 28, at Eastern Pines Church of Christ in Greenville. Plan now to join others of us from Towne South in enjoying the fellowship that evening. (There is a sign-up sheet at Welcome Center; leave at 5 pm for a 7 pm meal.)

Financial Peace University We all need a plan for our money. Financial Peace University (FPU) is that plan! It teaches God's ways of handling money. Through video teaching, class discussions and interactive small group activities, FPU presents biblical, practical steps to get from where you are to where you've dreamed you could be. This plan will show you how to get rid of debt, manage your money, spend and save wisely, and much more! Register online! http://www.daveramsey.com/fpu/locations/class/276328

Growth

Discovery 101 In September – Sign Up If You Have Not Taken It! If you’ve been visiting with us and want to know more about the Towne South Church of Christ, if you’ve been thinking about membership at Towne South, or if you’ve never attended the Discovery 101 class, let me encourage you to do so. Our goal is to eventually have every member and attendee complete this class. If you want to discover more about living the Christian life, some of our basic beliefs, and Towne South’s over-all plan and strategy, then this class is for you. Go to https://tscoc.wufoo.com/forms/discovery-101/ to register for this class.

Outreach

Be Thinking about Attending ICOM We have reserved a 55-passenger bus for Saturday, October 31, to attend the International Conference on Missions (http://theicom.org/ for details) in Richmond. There will be a nominal fee for riding the bus. However, with as many people attending Towne South as we have, we’re thinking one bus is not enough. So, be looking at your calendars—set aside that date. Before long, we’ll be asking, “Hey, are you going to join us on this informative and inspiring trip?” We want to see if we need to reserve additional buses.

“How To Avoid a Scam” - Monday, 8/17, 7 pm, Towne South Have you ever gotten a phone call or an email offer that sounds too good to pass up, but you’re afraid it might be a scam? How do you know? Whom can you trust? What information is safe to give out and what is not? What do yo do if you are the victim of a scam? If you’re planning to attend, pleases sign up at the welcome center or email Brad.

Attic is Starting Back Up! The Attic will be reopening for 6-12th graders beginning October 16. We will be getting more information out soon and will be asking our church family to help spread the word throughout the community.

Let’s Help River Road Students All the churches in our community have been adopting schools for the past several years. Towne South has adopted River Road Middle School. What that means is that we as a church need to keep their students, teachers, and administrators in prayer. We also need to help them through volunteering, donating school supplies, and heading up teacher appreciation days. We will be holding a school supply drive through August 23. Please place items in the donation box located in the library. Here is a list of needed items: ruled paper, pencils, pens, notebooks, backpacks, disinfecting wipes, packs of copy paper, folders, 3-ring binders, new clothing (middle school aged sized), belts (for young boys and young men).

D. Q. & Bob Morton Memorial Ride Bob was one of our members; his widow, Cat, is an active member. This is the annual MACU Bike Rally; join them on September 12th. Go to http://www.macuniversity.edu/ for more information! A day of fun, food, riding, prizes, and

music MACU’s student worship band performing Proceeds

fund Cross Cultural Student Scholarship.

Are you remembering we have household furnishings in the trailer? For a few years, Towne South people have put unneeded household furnishings in a trailer behind the David Brothers’ home. This is designed for people in need—whether it is following some disaster or just a need. The trailer is pretty full. Are you aware of someone who may have need of household furnishings? If so, speak to Frances Long or Jonathan Snoots.

Are You Inviting Friend/Family To The Two Big Sundays In September? On September 13, we will have the dedication of the addition to our building. There will be only one service – it will begin at 10 a.m. And, there will be a bring-in lunch. Invite our friends, former members, some who have visited us through the years! Let’s make it a record-setting day.

On September 20, we will celebrate Back to Church Sunday, and that’s the Sunday that we will start our new time schedule. That’s 8:45 for first service; 10:15 for Sunday School; 11:15 for second service.
