Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary “Holy Day of Opportunity”
Thursday, August 15th, 2019 Masses Celebrated at 8:00a.m. and 6:30p.m.
The Assumption of Mary, body and soul, into heaven, Pope Francis has said, is a sign to all believers that life “is not a senseless wandering, but a pilgrimage that, although there are uncertainties and suffering, has a sure goal: the house of the Father, who awaits us with love.” Mary’s assumption into heaven and, in fact, her entire life show believers the great things that God has in store for them, Pope Francis said. “The ‘great things’ the Almighty has done for her touch us deeply, speak of our journey through life and remind us of the destination that awaits us: the house of the Father,” Pope Francis shared last Feast Day of the Assumption.

There is truth in John Heywood’s saying, “Many hands make light work.”
Monday, August 12th, is the feast day of St. Clare of Assisi. St. Clare was born July 16, 1194. She is an Italian Saint and one of the first followers of Saint Francis of Assisi. She founded the
Order Of Poor Ladies, now called Order of St. Clare, a monastic religious order for women in the Franciscan tradition. Clare wrote their Rule of Life, the first set of monastic guidelines known to have
been written by a woman. Her group became known for their austere and devout lifestyle and for the power of their prayer, which is credited with saving Assisi from invaders twice. After Francis’ death, Clare continued his work and broadened her own influence.
Clare died in 1253, at the age of 59. She was canonized two years later by Pope Alexander IV.

FAITH FORMATION RESUMES IN SEPTEMBER
Last year, youth from the parish journeyed together, built community, and prepared for the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist, and Confirmation. Our parish is home to inspiring young people, talented catechists, and a very deep faith. Together our faith formation program: - Celebrated Christmas with the Nativity Presentation; - Learned about the Epiphany with crafts; - Built Lent in a Bag to pray with during Lent, and buried Alleluia banners until Easter; - Marked the Easter Season and the close of the year by creating prayer reminders for the Summer. Faith Formation is for ALL kids - not just for Sacrament Preparation. There is space in our program for any young person from 1st through 8th grade, and teens preparing for Confirmation.
