Preseparation Transition GPS Workshop

Capstone EventCounseling

Transition Assistance Program (TAP)

MANDATORY for all separating/retiring military members and by law, must be completed NOT LATER THAN 90 days prior to separation or retirement. Preseparation Counseling may be completed by attending a group briefing or individually by appointment. During the briefing the DD Form 2648, Preseparation Counseling Checklist is completed.

Provides standardized curriculum to ensure separating service members meet their Career Readiness Standards (CRS). Participation is mandatory unless an exemption applies. Service members should start TAP not more than 12 months before separating or 24 months before retiring. Spouses are welcome and encouraged to attend. Participants should bring their laptop, notebook or iPad. Please wear casual civilian business attire.

Preseparation Counseling must be completed before attending the TAP Workshop 846-0741

Contact Airman & Family Readiness Center to Register for the TAP Program The DD Form 2958 should be

completed not less than 90 days before separation/retirement.

All separating/retiring service members are required to meet Career Readiness Standards (CRS) and to complete the DD Form 2958, Service Member Career Readiness Standards/Individual Transition Plan Checklist. During the Capstone Event, CRS are verified by the Airman and Family Readiness Center (A&FRC) on the DD Form 2958, which is taken by the service member to their commander for review and signature. The commander signed DD Form 2958 MUST be returned to the A&FRC.

Check out these events around the state of New Mexico: The Great American Duck Race in Deming: the ducks will be racing, along with great food and a daily carnival taking place August 22th-25th. Music from Angel Fire’s 31st Summer Music Festival runs August 15th -31st and features musicians from all over the United States. There are also the Bat Flights at Carlsbad Caverns, the Gallup Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial from August 6th to the 10th or the Hatch Valley Chili Festival on August 30th and 31st.

If you’ve ever thought about learning to fly you have an excellent opportunity to do so through the Kirtland Flight Center! The Flight Center can help you achieve your dream of flying with great instructors, great aircraft rental rates, and a fantastic support staff. The Flight Center also offers ground school classes on a regular basis to help you prepare to take the FAA Written Exam.

Already have a pilot’s license? The Kirtland Flight Center can help you maintain your currency, complete your flight review, improve your skills or help you earn advanced ratings. # 4 cups of sliced strawberries

# 2 ripe mangos, chopped

# 1/4 cup of orange marmalade

# 1/8 cup of orange juice

# 1 tbsp. lemon juice

# 1/2 cup of blueberries

# 1 to 2 tbsp. of dried mint leaves

Directions:1. In a mixing bowl, combine strawberries,

mango. and blueberries. Set aside.

2. In a small bowl, stir together the orange marmalade, orange juice, and lemon juice.

3. Add this to the strawberry mixture, making sure everything is well combined.

4. Add in the mint leaves. Chill in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

Trip includes introduction to the knot and rope systems of climbing, and a full day outside on the cliffs. Come enjoy a day climbing in the beautiful mountains of New Mexico! All climbing equipment, transportation, and instructor are provided. Participants must be at least 5 years old.

LEARN TO LEAD CLIMBSun • 17 Aug • 7:45am-6pm • $75 civilian/$40 active dutyIf you can lead in the gym but are nervous about making the commitment outdoors this class would help hone your skills in sport climbing. It is easier and safer to learn to lead under the guidance and instruction of a professional guide. In this class you will learn how to clip bolts and quick-draws quickly, how to thread an anchor, how to clean a sport route, route finding skills and how to determine the safety and/or dangers of sport routes. Climbing gear, transportation, and AMGA certified professional instruction included.

ROCK CLIMBING CONDITIONING AND FITNESS CLASSWed • 20 Aug • 5-7pm • Come learn the proper exercises and training techniques used to improve your rock climbing and overall fitness at the ODR climbing gym. Join the enrichment pre-school program for children ages 3-5. Through play and activities children will enjoy making new friends and learning more about literacy, math, science, social studies, the arts, and technology. Concepts will be presented in ways that respect how pre-school children develop and learn while encouraging children to explore, discover and enjoy the people and world around them.
