Without revealing the source of this information, this was made known to AECASSOWARY 6 who showed great intereut in the matter since, as he ex. plained it, the Frenchman might be able to provide some clues as to AECAWNPORE 4ts death. AECASSOWARY 6 reported that the committee selected to exploit theHIIZ documents has not met with too much success, mainly because most thinkAECASSOWARY 2 has already done alone (presenting the documents to the UnitedNations) what the committee is now trying to do. Another factor in the lackof progress by the committee is the negative attitude shown by the UUR andURDP who have boycotted the committee meetings beilause,af theiriresentment tothe way the documents were originallmode

1. The undersigned visited AECASSOWARY 6 at his safehouse in order tobe present uhen a delivery of furniture was made by a crew of Germans workingfor Army CM. The new furniture was installed without incident.

2. While waiting for the furniture to arrive, the undersigned explainedto AECASSOWAEY 6 a discrepancy in past newspaper accountings (neglecting tocarry over profits frompreceeding months to succeeding months) and urged that.the accumulative profits dating from September 1954 be shown in the next ac-counting of the AECASSOWARY 1 and AEDRUMMER papers. To make certain that thecorrect total figure was used, a list of all profit shown in their accountingsdating back to Sept. 1954 was given AECASSOWARY 66

3. The undersigned returned the press clippings on t4EILZ documents(clipped from the German press) and informed AECASSOWARY 6 that photo copieshad been sent to headquarters with a request that they be made available toAECASSOWARY 2 for his use. AECASSOWARY 6 said that more clippings have beenreceived by'his organization and that these will be made available for ouredification,

1. AECASSOWARY 6 phoned the undersigned at about 0900, 10 August 1956 andsaid he had something interesting to pass. The undersigned requested that AECAS.SOWARY 6 meet him at 1030 at a cafe (located on the road to Grunwald) rather thanhold the meeting at the 15 Geibelstr. address. (The undersigned had anothei , meet-ing scheduled for later in the day and therefore was a bit pressed for time.)

2, At the 1030 meeting, AECASSOWARY 6 produced a letter he had gotten fromLyubomyr ORTINSKYY which the latter had received from Joseph KRUTIY. (This letterwas sent to headquarters in EGMA-22732), The letter was mailed from East Berlinand contained in it, among other things, a request that ORTINSKYY return to theUkraine as KRUTIY had done. The letter contained two return addresses (in theletter itself), one in East Berlin and the other in Kiev. AECASSOWARY 6 said thatAECASSOWARY 8 had also received a letter from KRUTIY4

3. AECASSOWARY 6 requested that the letter be shown to AECASSOWARY 2; whohas maintained an interest in the KRUTIY defection and his subsequent actions re-garding an attempt to lure back to the homeland key Ukrainian emigre personnel.

4. COMMENT: Our local hail intercept channels produced a copy of the abovementicned letter on 8 August 56.

5, AECASSOWARY 6 mentioned that the H1LZ documents, publicly released on20 and 24 July, were still being publicized by both Ukrainian and other papers; Hesaid that certain Viennese papers had devoted much space to the HILZ docaments.AECASSOWARY 6 said he would furnish us with clippings in the near future.

1. Since the undersigned was pressed for time, he requested AECASSOWARY 6to meet him at a cafe. During the ensuing lunch, the following business wastransacted:

a. Returned to AECASSOWARY 6 the letter LyUbomyrfrom Joseph KRUTIY and told him that the original waswith a request that it be shown to AECASSOWARY 2. Thethat a comparison of the handwriting with other KRUTIYletter was written by KRUTIY.

b. The undersigned told AECASSOWARY 6 we learned recently that aFrenchman (see EGMA-22737) who once served in a Soviet prison camp with theson of AECAWNPORE 4 received a letter from Yuriy (AECAWNPORE kla son) inwhich he asked the Frenchman to help him locate his aunt. AECASSOWARY 6showed great interest in the news and requested that we try to obtain ad-ditional information about the Frenchman and whether we could arrange forone of the AECASSOWARIES to debrief the Frenchman. AECASSOWARY 6 felt thatthe Frenchman could shed some light on the death of AECAWMPORE 4, etc. Theundersigned told AECASSOWARY 6 he would do that he could in this respectand would let him know.

c, The undersigned asked AECASSOWARY 6 about the results of the meet-ing held by the committee selected to exploit the HILZ documents. He saidthat nothing conclUsive was decided since there was much discussion on theaction to be taken. He said that the UNA and URDP did not attend the meet-ing. He said the committee is to meet again n about a weak.

4. The above information is of possible interest in the case of the YuriyKAPUSTINSKYY who was apprehended by CIC while making a pitch in behalf of the RISto Modest RIPETSKYY during March 1956.
