Since our last business meeting:
• The new C&BL was passed. • Appointed David Knights as our new Recruitment and
Retention Secretary. • Appointed T.J. Misiolek as the new 2nd VP. • Mailed out the rest of 2017’s 25-year Member pins. • Designed and implemented a new ”Member of the Year”
award.• Started project to re-work and update our web site.

The 2016/2017 Financial Report was published in the May-June 2018 Journal.Our financial position is strong and improved over the previous year, coming close to break-even.

Improvements made: • PayPal has made it easier for members, advertisers and vendors to
make payments • New credit card and banking relationships are saving us money.
Fees so far this year are $3,100 compared with $4,500 for the first six months of 2017
• Providing comprehensive financial reporting to Eboard and convention team
• Created new budgeting tools for convention hosts • Closed out 2017 convention books in 2017- fastest in 3 years
On the horizon: • Continue to improve support for convention staff • Investigate auto-renewal option to increase member

Reviewer Corps:• In 2017, we posted 880 reviews. 2018 has slowed down a bit, we’re on a run rate of approx.
625 reviews at current pace• Reviewers’ Corps headcount is 107, of which 85 are active. Always room for more!• We continue to build visibility for IPMS/USA when manufacturers such as Casemate Publishing,
Hasegawa, Specialty Press and AMK post our IPMS/USA-branded reviews to their web pages.• Working with new suppliers for review items and information. This year we have added Micro-
Mir, Master Details, Coastal Kits, Omega Models, Dora Wings, AOA Decals, Furball Aero Design, Coastal Kits, restarted MENG, Airfix and Fisher Models, and have several others in the works.
• Big News – we established a Members-only 15% discount program with Micro-Mark, and they have started sending us review products as well.
• Supplied the Journal with several build reviews this year.

• The 2017 National Convention (Omaha) closed out with a $33,898 total profit, with $16,949 going to IPMS/USA. It was the fourth most-profitable convention to date.•I am working with Chattanooga to assure a great National Convention experience for our members in 2019. •We have one solid bid for the 2020 National Convention; I will work diligently throughout this year to elicit bids for 2021 - please stay tuned. •I am currently working to update the National Convention Bid Parameters guidebook with an eye toward making the process more “user friendly” for planners to enable them to bid on and produce successful conventions in the future.

There are 168 shows planned for 2018
50% of Chapters request show liability insurance through the IPMS/USA at an
average savings of $500/event. Money saved by being a chartered IPMS/USA chapter.
Newsletters
Thirty IPMS/USA chapter newsletters have been distributed electronically to over 150 member contacts
this year.

• Have absorbed the duties of Director of Foreign Liaison that was eliminated in the new C&BL and am in contact with various IPMS groups worldwide
• The online Hobby Shop Listing continues to grow (51 shops listed so far) but continues to need more member participation to cover more areas of the country
• Became the official keeper of the Special Interest Group (SIG) list. Responsible for adding new groups and removing ones that are no longer active
Recruitment and Retention Secretary
David Knights• Membership is up over 4% since this position was established last year.• Have reached out to chapter contacts to encourage local recruitment. • IPMS/USA recruiting tables have been set up at a number of local and
regional shows.• Searching for ways to establish additional programs to help with
membership recruitment and add to membership value.• Looking for and willing to accept any and all help.
Publications Director/HistorianJames Pearsall
• We have appointed Bill Whipple as Journal Ad Manager. Thank you to Doug Reed, the previous Ad Manager, for his good work.
• Advertising billing for the last two Journals has been slowed due to the changeover. Hopefully we will be able to get it back on schedule soon.
• The Journal continues to be an outstanding publication, thanks to the work of John Heck and Chris Bucholz.
• As historian, I continue to collect newsletters from those chapters that send them to me.
• I have received about one request per month for articles from the Quarterly and Update.
