Audience Feedback Results My intended target audience is a very diverse group of people in age and gender and therefore the first two questions allow me to establish whether it reached out to them. As the above graph on the right hand side shows I received a fairly equal gender balance which I’m satisfied with as it means I’ll receive both an honest viewpoint and valuable input from both parties. Overall the majority of my respondents based on age were either 16-18 (50%) or 35+ (42%) with only 8% being under 15. These results provide me with mixed feelings; on one hand those over the age of 35 will most likely have families and those under 18 will still be living at home meaning they’ll sit together with parents of an evening to watch a movie, which is my intended audience. However on the other hand, I have no input from the ‘younger generation families’ making the survey slightly biased. My intended target audience is a very diverse group of people in age and gender and therefore the first two questions allow me to establish whether it reached out to them. Another aspect I did not consider when designing the survey was whether those over the age 25 even had a family of their own, meaning that my older respondents may not even be my target core demographic.

Early on during the pre-production stages I decided that my core demographic would be those between the C1 to E grade social classification, based on my research into the viewing figures of TV shows and movies that followed a similar theme to my own product. Therefore I’m satisfied with the response to this particular question as 91% of respondents fit within this classification, meaning my target social demographic- even though they may not have families- are the ones responding.

The following question allowed me to determine whether I had conveyed the right visual and audio aspects in order for people to distinguish the genre of movie my title sequence is representing. Based on the following results I’m satisfied that I incorporated the correct elements in order for it to be apparent as 92% of respondents answered correctly. On the other hand however, I may have incorporated other optional answers that would not even be considered and should have therefore made it an open ended question in order to get a fair opinion. This is based on the fact that 35% believed it to be aimed at teens between the ages of 14-19 even though the answer was supplied within the genre they chose to go for in the previous question. Overall 42% of people believed it to be aimed at those under 19 meaning that I’ve not designed it in such a way that it would appeal to their age group.

When designing my sequence I wanted the audio aspect to relate to both the theme of the movie as well as the visual elements in such a way that it was relatable to what the audience were seeing. Therefore I’m satisfied with the result of this question as 100% of respondents believed it conveyed the genre I was intending to represent. Overall most people agreed that it ‘set the mood and was a positive representation of the genre’. However a few people believed that although it suited the genre it was slightly melancholic and could have been slightly more upbeat- although I’ll take this all into consideration, it was not my original intention when designing the sequence.

During the primary research stages I discovered that subjects believed a sequence of two minutes or less to be a suitable; keeping this in mind I designed my product to be 120 seconds exact. Having done so, I wanted to find out whether respondents still found this to be true. Overall I’m satisfied with the results as 85% believed it be the perfect length, whilst only 15% were dissatisfied. Keeping in mind the results from my primary research in regards, 15% equates to the same number of people who do not enjoy title sequences.

The following question I believe to be the most important- a good sequence that has met the needs of the audience will leave them wanting more and with a desire to continue watching the movie in which it conveys. Overall 71% said yes whilst the other 29% were either unsure or said maybe. Looking back on my survey these are two very similar answers and I therefore should have only incorporated one in order to gather more straightforward results. Aspects that I have to consider for those 29% are whether they were my target

audience and they were left dissatisfied or if I had asked a few of the wrong people that do not fit in with the targeted demographic. The 71% which did say yes is a positive result as it means that my product has met its intentions in order to satisfy audiences.
