1. Audience feedback What have I learnt from my audience feedback? By Avneet Gill EVALUATION POINT 3 2. My task For my A2 Media coursework I produced a 5 minute long short film, as a comedic documentary about culture I called the film IDENTITY. My target audience (or TA) was teenage girls aged 14-18 years. Although this is simply due to the fact that I personally feel as though females would be able to relate to my female protagonists. Having said this, my film does not exclude any particular gender, race or age group. To find out what consumers thought of my film, I conducted some research 3. Questions that I ASKED 1.) Overall opinion? If good, what did you like? If not so good, what could be improved? 2.) What did you think the meaning of my film was? (what have you learnt) 3.) What genre category do you think my film fits into? 4.) Would you say my film is comedic? (If so, why?) 5.) Did you have an opinion on culture before watching the film? If yes, has it changed? 4. What consumers said - (S.S): Liked the various camera angles, especially at the start. Also enjoyed the scenery of Dubai while driving in a car made the consumer feel as though they were a part of the material. - (E.Y): Thought the song by Iggy Azalea at the start fitted really well with the theme and gave the film an instant light-hearted feel. - (K.G) Thinks that the birds eye view camera angle in the middle of the film gave the viewer a clear look at the setting, allowing her to understand that the setting in this particular scene was a bedroom. - (Y.S): Said that the use of natural lighting and sound (technicality of realism) was great because it gave the film that documentary feel taking away the seriousness. Also liked the use of the handheld camera, claimed it also added to the light-hearted approach 5. What consumers said - (O.K): Said that she enjoyed the film but the ending could have been slightly more concluded she claimed that she was unsure whether the ending had actually arrived. - (J.S): Really liked the film, but to improve there could have been scenes where both protagonists were on the screen at the same time to emphasise their comparison. - (L.W): Says it could have been even better if different songs had been used for each character, that way the comparison of lifestyle at the start may have been a little more clearer. 6. What consumers said - (J.K): Says that she thought the meaning of the film was to promote all cultures and emphasise equality of all people - (O.B): Thinks that the meaning of the film is that everyone is the same, regardless of background - (A.S): Says that in his opinion the meaning of the film was to reinforce differences in lifestyle - (E.I): Cultural background determines your goals in life e.g. Raveena being represented as clever suggests she is ambitious and this could be a reflection of her Aisan up bringing as a character in the film 7. How I CONDUCTED MY ANSWERS - Interviews - Social media (twitter and Facebook) - Questionnaires . Interviews for me, were the best form of research in relation to audience feeback, as this way I could go in depth for the reasons people liked, disliked and understood (or not) my film. Overall I am so pleased with all of the responses that I received, because even questionably negative responses will only help me improve my filming skills for the future I am also very happy that everyone understood the meaning behind my film without anyone taking offense! 8. Thanks for watching
