I conducted a target audience questionnaire before production which consisted of 10 questions from a primary source to come to a decision on our audience.

Questions included were;

Do you prefer conventional or unconventional movies? What would you expect from a gangster opening? What type of film genre’s are you into? What gender are you? What age category are you? What is your occupation? How much do you earn? What type of media do you use? How many time do you go to the cinema? What do you do for leisure?

The results for the questions that helped us to identify what target audience we would be attracting was collected in the form of graphs (pie charts).

I noticed that the questions with the answers suited to identify the audience were;

Genre of film preferred Gender Earnings Type of media

The focus group survey involved getting Qualitive research. Since most of our ideas were formed from Goodfella’s, as a group we thought it would be better to get research of people’s thoughts and feelings towards its opening.

We asked questions based on Genre, Characters, Sound, Titling, Storyline and Mise En Scene. The focus group survey helped us to get a better perspective of our chosen genre from different perspectives. Most answers given were generally the same.

Having looked at audience answers, I came to a conclusion and that the gangster genre showed some popularity.

60% of males took my target audience questionnaire, T.V was one of the biggest media sources used and the earnings showed that our audience received low income. I then realised that our target audience would be more males than females, people of low earnings (since our ideas was for it to be a low budget gritty British gangster film) and people who watch T.V.
