Lot 129 Original Oil on Canvas by the English artist Daniel Sherrin, 1868-1940. The son of John Sherrin, and the

father of R.D. Sherrin who were also artists, he lived on the East Coast of England near Whitstable,

often painting along the shores of Kent, Suffolk and Norfolk. His paintings were used for book

illustrations, and his works engraved. He was commissioned by King George V to paint Sandringham

and this painting still hangs in Buckingham Palace. During the first World War he designed the

recruitment posters for Kitchener's Army, which exist in the archives of the Imperial War museum.

but was mainly self taught. He contributed to 'The Bulletin', and 'Smith's Weekly' and his comic strips

included 'Andy', 'Saltbush Bill' and 'Wichetty's Tribe'.Signed and dedicated to the Potts family

1. Buyers are reminded that there is a Buyer’s premium of 12% inclusive of GST payable on the hammer price of each

lot.

2. Descriptions in this catalogue are meant as a guide only and are deemed to have been made to the best of our

knowledge. Buyers are therefore requested to examine the item before purchasing. No claims for damage,

misdescription, genuineness or authenticity of any lot will be entertained.

3. The highest bidder will be the purchaser and in the case of a dispute, the lot may be re-submitted and the

auctioneer’s decision will be final.

4. The auctioneer has the right to refuse any bid and place a reserve on any lot.

5. Until sold, goods remain the property and responsibility of the owner. From the time of the lot being sold, it will

become the responsibility of the buyer.

6. The ownership of a lot shall not pass to the bidder until the purchase price is paid in full.

7. All purchases must be collected within one working day after the auction unless previously agreed between the

Auctioneer or his representative and the buyer. Items not collected during this time may be placed in storage at

the buyers risk and expense and the buyer shall be responsible for all removal, storage and insurance charges

incurred.

8. All buyers or members of the public enter the auction rooms entirely at their own risk.

9. Offers can be submitted at the termination of the auction on any items passed in and may be accepted at the

discretion of the Auctioneer.

GST Buyers Premium including GST is 12% of the final bid price. GST is 10% of the Buyer’s Premium equaling 1.09%

3. The Auctioneer will execute absentee bids as instructed in writing for the lowest possible price subject to other bids

on the floor. In the event of identical bids, the first bid received will take precedence.

4. The Auctioneer will accept absentee and telephone bidding (if approval granted prior to the auction) as a

convenience to clients, but will not be responsible for errors or failures to execute bids.

5. Prospective buyers may bid by telephone during the course of the auction. Arrangements for this service must be

confirmed prior to the auction.
