Lot 129 Original Oil on Canvas by the English artist Daniel Sherrin, 1868-1940. The son of John Sherrin, and the
father of R.D. Sherrin who were also artists, he lived on the East Coast of England near Whitstable,
often painting along the shores of Kent, Suffolk and Norfolk. His paintings were used for book
illustrations, and his works engraved. He was commissioned by King George V to paint Sandringham
and this painting still hangs in Buckingham Palace. During the first World War he designed the
recruitment posters for Kitchener's Army, which exist in the archives of the Imperial War museum.

2. Descriptions in this catalogue are meant as a guide only and are deemed to have been made to the best of our
knowledge. Buyers are therefore requested to examine the item before purchasing. No claims for damage,
misdescription, genuineness or authenticity of any lot will be entertained.
3. The highest bidder will be the purchaser and in the case of a dispute, the lot may be re-submitted and the
auctioneer’s decision will be final.
4. The auctioneer has the right to refuse any bid and place a reserve on any lot.
5. Until sold, goods remain the property and responsibility of the owner. From the time of the lot being sold, it will
become the responsibility of the buyer.
6. The ownership of a lot shall not pass to the bidder until the purchase price is paid in full.
7. All purchases must be collected within one working day after the auction unless previously agreed between the
Auctioneer or his representative and the buyer. Items not collected during this time may be placed in storage at
the buyers risk and expense and the buyer shall be responsible for all removal, storage and insurance charges

3. The Auctioneer will execute absentee bids as instructed in writing for the lowest possible price subject to other bids

4. The Auctioneer will accept absentee and telephone bidding (if approval granted prior to the auction) as a
convenience to clients, but will not be responsible for errors or failures to execute bids.
