University Highlighted Activities

GRAND OPENING of ABAC-NCUK International Foundation Year (A Guaranteed Route to Undergraduate Studies at UK's Leading Universities)

M.L. Panadda Diskul, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Education, presided over the launch of NCUK International Foundation Curriculum (Course). NCUK International Foundation Curriculum features the one-year readiness or preparatory study at Assumption University for students’ guaranteed access into the remaining three-year undergraduate studies in the UK's Leading Universities; i.e. University of Bristol, University of Birmingham, University of Leeds, University of Liverpool, University of Manchester, University of Sheffield, Sheffield Hallam University, Aston University, University of Kent, Queen Mary University of London and many other highly recognized universities. The launching ceremony took place on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at the Renaissance Hotel, Rajaprasong, Bangkok.

AU Fire Safety Drills and Evacuation Procedures

AU Annual Fire Drills and Evacuation Procedures (Workshop) for the academic year of 2017, was organized by the Legal and General Business Department, Office of the Vice President for Administrative Affairs for AU personnel from various departments. Conducted on March 17, 2017, the theoretical training session took place at Salle D’ Export (Assumption Hall), while the practical hands-on part was carried out at the car park area in front of Hall of Fame, Hua Mak Campus. Mr. Sompol Na-Songkhla, Vice President for Administrative Affairs, presided over the training program which was attended by a number of interested administrators, faculty members and staff.

Competition of Thai Social Manners and Etiquettes

AU Office of Thai Art and Culture, Student Affairs, organized the award presentation ceremony for “Thai Social Manners and Etiquettes” competition to winning students. “Kulayanee Sri Biotech” team fetched the top award which was presented by Rev. Bro. Anupat Petchara Yuttachai, Professor of the Order of St. Gabriel, on March 22, 2017 at SR101 Room, St. Raphael Hall, Assumption University, Suvarnabhumi Campus

Bank of Ayudhya PCL’s Cash Donation in Support of AU Students’ Activities

Mr. Dejanant Hiranyasthiti, Senior Vice President, and Department Head of Non-Profit Organization and Mr. Varayu Santavanond, Executive Relationship Manager, Non-Profit Organization, Bank of Ayudhya Public Co. Ltd., presented the 7th cash donation in the amount of 300,000 Baht towards AU’s students’ activities “University Innovative Leader Camp”. Rev. Bro. Dr. Sirichai Fonseka, Vice President for Student Affairs, accepted this generous financial contribution on March 20, 2017 at the Office of President for Student Affairs, Cathedral of Learning, Suvarnabhumi Campus.

AU International Night 2017

AU International Night 2017 was presided over by Rev. Bro. Dr. Amnuay Yoonprayong, Vice President for Moral Development Education. The fun-filled event featured various colorful dances, shows and cultural performances by students from different countries and international food fairs hosted by International Students Group (AUISG). One of the occasion’s highlights was the selection of Mr. and Ms. Internationals 2017. The celebration was to strengthen the relationships between Thai and international students.

Attendants were administrators, faculty members and students. The event took place on March 23, 2017 at the Thai Pavillion, Sala Chaturamuk Phaichit, Assumption University, Suvarnabhumi Campus.

AU International Night 2017

II CEO Forum

Dr. Somprot Sarakosas, President, Assumption University Alumni Association, organized a II CEO Forum, leading a group of AU alumni and graduate students on a study tour to Chonburi province on March 25, 2017. On this occasion, the visiting group attended a special lecture under the topic of “Direction of Thai Industry and Neighboring Countries’ Markets” (CLMV), delivered by Mr. Viboon Kromadit, Director and Chief Marketing Officer of Amata Corporation Public Company Limited, at AMATA Castle.

Fifth Dog Fashion Show“Bark in the Park - The Bohemian”

The Fifth Dog Fashion Show was organized by Dog Lovers Club under the theme “Bark in The Park - The Bohemian” on March 29, 2017 at Football Field, Assumption University Suvarnabhumi Campus. The fair was a social gathering of dog lovers to show off their dogs. Participating dogs got to taste various types of offered dog foods. Live concert was performed by music bands such as “Peach the previous”, “The 38 Years ago” and “O-Pavee” which enhanced the getting along well or familiarizing atmosphere with Bohemain dog type. Rev. Bro. Dr. Siricha Fonseka, Vice Rector for Student Affairs, presided over the show. As usual, Dog Lovers Club donated money, raised from the show, to charity.

AFRICAN NIGHT 2017

Assumption University African Students Community organized AFRICAN NIGHT 2017 “AMANDLA Proudly African” providing the opportunity for all students from African continent to socialize, be familiar, share ideas and join in activities expressing common African arts and cultures. A guest of honor during this social event which took place on March 30, 2017 at Albert Hall, Suvarnabhumi Campus, was Rev. Bro. Dr. Amnuay Yoonprayong, Vice President for Moral Development Education.

Thai Art and Cultural PRESERVATION DAY

Office of Thai Art and Culture, Student Affairs, organized the art and cultural preservation days during April 3-5, 2017 at the Shopping Plaza, Cathedral of Learning, Suvarnabhumi Campus. Thai local products reflecting intellectual heritage including a number of royal ones under the patronage of H.M. Queen Sirikit, were on sales by a number of shops & booths. Other notable quality merchandises included Thai herbal products from Chaophya Abhaibhubejhr Clinic

and a variety of items displayed by Araya shop from Phetchburi province, Saowabha Vocational College as well as Thai miniature mobile museum. The event presided over by Rev. Bro. Anupat Petchara Yuttachai, Professor of the Order of St. Gabriel, is aimed towards creating the awareness and eliciting support among AU personnel: faculty members, staff and students in sustainably preserving the precious local Thai products, art, culture and heritage being handed down to us by our genius forefathers.

AU Confucius Institute joining AU family during Songkran festival 2017

Ms. Siriluk Chaiprompasit and Mr. Zhao Peigin, Thai and Chinese Directors of AU Confucius Institute (CIAU) joined AU family during the celebrative traditional, Songkran Festival 2017 which was organized on April 12, 2017 at the Thai Pavillion, Assumption University, Suvarnabhumi Campus.

AU Celebration of Songkran Festival 2017

AU Songkran Festival 2017 was fully celebrated observing the traditional Thai ways of practice. Organized by the Office of Thai Art and Culture, Students Affairs, on April 12, 2017 at the Thai Pavillion, Suvarnabhumi Campus, a number of administrators, faculty members, staff and students paid their respects to Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran, President-Rector Magnificus, Rev. Bro. Dr. Prathip M. Komolmas, President Emeritus, Vice Presidents and other senior respectable figures, by pouring lustral water on their hands which was followed by their giving of the best wishes & blessings for the joyful Thai New Year. The other celebrative highlights included various Thai cultural dances and colorful, traditional attire & costumes display.

Mass at the Chapel of St. Louis Marie de Montfort

The Tricentennial Feast Day of St. Louis Marie de Montfort was celebrated on April 28, 2017 at Suvarnabhumi Campus, with a Holy Mass at the Chapel of St. Louis Marie de Montfort. H.E. Archbishop Paul Tschang In-Nam, Apostolic Nuncio was the main Celebrant. A lunch was hosted by the Rector Magnificus at the John XXIII Conference Center. The festive occasion was attended by Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran, Rector Magnificus, Rev. Dr. Prathip M. Komolmas, Rector Emeritus, Member of the Montfortian Brothers of St. Gabriel in Thailand, Assumption University Alumni, Faculty member, students and distinguished guests.

Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).Establishing Manpower & AU Career Training Center.

Mr. Simon Matthews, Country Manager, Middle East and Vietnam, Manpower Group Thailand (3rd left) and Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran, President - Rector Magnificus (Third right) reached an agreement during the MOU signing ceremony; establishing the Manpower and ABAC Career Training Center. Such an effort is to create the link between educational institutes and job

market and the development of overall job information center. This is also to reduce the country’s burden in this area and for the new graduates to find the right jobs best suited for their appropriate qualifications. Dr. Uree Cheasakul, Dean, Martin de Tours School of Management and Economics, administrators and faculty members witnessed the event which took place on March 1, 2017 at Wiset Srisamut Room, Cathedral of Learning, Assumption University, Suvarnabhumi Campus.

MOU in Educational Cooperation between Assumption University and Paris American Academy

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), initiating educational cooperation, was signed by Assumption University and Paris American Academy. The signing ceremony was carried out by Mr. Peter Charles Carman, President of The Paris American Academy and AU Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran, President - Rector Magnificus, witnessed by Dr. Uree Cheasakul, Dean, Martin de Tours School of Management and Economics. The occasion took place on March 23, 2017 at Wisetsrisamut Room, Cathedral of Learning, Suvarnabhumi Campus. The day ended with “the Timeless in Paris Fashion Show” conducted at the Fountain Open Space Area in the afternoon on the same day.

Faculty Activities

Press Conference of "Music Summer Camp''Jointly organized by AU School of Music and Muzik Move for Enhancing Musicology Study

A press conference was held announcing the cooperation between Department of Music Business, School of Music, Assumption University and Music

Move Entertainment. Present during the occasion were Dr. Vindhai Cocrakul, Dean, AU School of Music and Mr. Vudtinun Bhirombhakdi, Managing Director, Music Move Entertainment. This special program was emceed by Kane from Zeal band. The event took place on March 27, 2017 at Salle D' Expo, Assumption Hall, which was also joined by celebrities, and a special performance by Pause was Conducted.

AU School of Arts’ Last Orientation (2/2016 Semester)

School of Theodore Maria of Arts, ,Assumption University, organized the last orientation for its students marking 2/2016 Semester. A special guest of honor during the occasion, which took place on April 7, 2017 at the Amari Watergate Bangkok Hotel, was Rev. Bro. Dr. Prathip M. Komolmas, Presi-dent Emeritus, who presided over the event. Other attendants included Dr. Chayada Thanavisuth, Dean, Theodore Maria School of Arts, department heads and other faculty members.

Charity Walk “Treading the Father’s Foot Paths”

A charity walk following the Father’s Foot Paths was conducted on April 12, 2017 by Theodore Maria School of Arts, Assumption University. This walk for a worthy cause kicking off at the Thai Pavillion, Suvarnabhumi Campus, was presided over by Rev. Bro. Dr. Amnuay Yoonprayong, Vice President for Moral Development Education. Dr. Chayada Thanavisuth, Dean, Theodore Maria School of Arts, faculty members, staff and students also joined in the activities.

Thai Culture Promoting Event

The Thai culture promoting event, organized by Theodore Maria School of Arts, was highlighted by the lucky draw (trees) for various prizes and items as well as the display of traditional Thai dresses and dances. Organized on April 12, 2017 at the AU plaza, Cathedral of Learning, Assumption University, Suvarnabhumi Campus, Dr. Chayada Thanavisuth, Dean, Theodore Maria School of Arts, led the other faculty members, staff and students joining this fun-filled and joyous activities promoting Thai art and culture.

AU Students Winning L'Oreal Brandstorm 2017 (Competition)

Congratulations to AU Student Teams from Martin de Tours School of Management and Econom-ics(MSME) for winning the two highly enviable awards out of the three available awards from L'Oreal Brand-storm 2017: the First Prize (100,000 bht) won by IBM Team and CSR Award (20,000 bht) won by Marketing Team. These two AU teams emerged as the five finalists among other public university entry teams and finally grabbing such top prizes. For this year, the winning teams need to pass regional competition to be qualified to join the world competition in Paris.

A dinner party was hosted by AU’s Center for Sports and Physical Fitness (Students A�airs) to congratulate about 172 athletes and sta� coaches who took part in the 44th Suranaree University Games. Participating in about 17 types of sports, AU athletes achieved fame and recognition winning a total number of 19 prestigious medals: 3 Golds, 3 Silvers, 12 Bronzes including a gold medal for a new type of sports of male body building display. The dinner recently held at Jonn Paul II Sports Center, was joined by many high-ranking administrators and presided over by Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran, President - Rector Magni�cus, who warmly congratulated the sports teams.
