IntroductionMaintaining a positive attitude even in difficult situations characteristic that will help students achieve success. Students need to learn to recognize the causes and effects of negative attitudes and see how those attitude affect others around them. They can then work toward changing negative attitude into healthy ones. Having a positive attitude equips students with the ability to learn and grow through their fears and frustration and interact appropriately with others.

What is Attitude?
An attitude is a predisposition to act or feel in a certain way toward a person or thing. Attitude are generally positive or negative views of person, place, thing, or event. This is often referred to as the attitude object. People can also be conflicted or ambivalent toward an object, meaning that they simultaneously possess both positive and negative attitudes towards the object in every situation.

Positive AttitudeIt means to keep a set ideas, values and thoughts that tend to look for the good, to advance, to overcome problems, to find the opportunities in every situation. A positive attitude is seeing the glass half full.

Affective component
Feeling (related to heart).
Based on physiological nervous reaction to
an object. Or situation or person.
This part of attitude is related to the statement which affects another person.

Behavioral intention An observable reaction (related to
movement).
E.g. to purchase a particular brand.The behavioral component refers to that part of attitude which reflects the intension of a person in short run or in long run.

Cognitive component Beliefs(related to mind)
What a person believes to be true about an
idea, event, activity or object.
It refers to that part of attitude which is related to a person’s thought, for example, “He says smoking is injurious to health”. Such type of idea of a person is called cognitive component of attitude.

1.Adjustment - Attitude help persons adjust to situation. -People seek out group acceptance in order to gain
praise or rewards and avoid punishment.
2.Ego defensive -Attitude are formed to protect the ‘ego’.
