ENGINE

INTELLIGENT POWER MANAGEMENT FOR TRANSPORT AND PTO POWERNOTE:

Intelligent Power Management is basic equipment on wheel tractors and available as an option or downloadedthrough software as a field installed option for track tractors equipped with Tier 3/Stage IIIA engines. IntelligentPower Management is not available for Tier 2/Stage II engines.

Intelligent Power Management is used for many typical farming operations that use high-power rear PTO andtransport applications. Customers who are looking for increased power in non-stationary PTO and transportapplications will be interested in the Intelligent Power Management feature.

In high-power rear PTO applications such as forage harvesters, rototillers and beet or potato harvesting equipment orwhere heavy trailers, carts or implements are frequently transported, this feature will provide significant additionalcapabilities. This solution will improve productivity with more consistent ground speeds, quicker acceleration andthe ability to maintain desired transport speeds.

This factory installed option or field installed kit isavailable for locations where fuel quality can at times bein question. This kit will extend service intervals andhelp protect the tractor fuel system from damage if thefuel contains more water than the basic filteringequipment can handle on a continual basis.

The 60 micron stainless steel filter element must bebackflushed whenever the bowl is half full of water. Thefilter can be backflushed up to 5 times before the filtermust be removed and cleaned. Filter element must bereplaced when light is no longer visible through the filter.Replacement interval will vary depending on fuelquality.

REVERSING ALARM

Reversing alarm

To better accommodate governmental or commercialcustomers, a reversing alarm is available as a factory orfield installed attachment on select models. The alarmsounds whenever the transmission is placed in reverse.The alarm provides a high level of warning that thetractor is changing directions.

Air brake couplers

An optional trailer air brake system provides modulatedbraking of trailers equipped with pneumatic brakes usinga dual line circuit.

• A high capacity air brake compressor ensures quickbuild-up of reserve air pressure in response tobraking demand.

The air brake system provides the necessary componentsrequired to hook up to an implement equipped with airbrakes. It includes the compressor, tank, control valvesand couplers. The air brakes are actuated with either thetractor’s foot brake pedals or the independent controlswitch located on the CommandARMTM. Tractors with50 km/h transmissions require a trailer brake system (airand/or hydraulic), installed at the factory.

HYDRAULIC TRAILER BRAKES

Hydraulic trailer brake connector

Hydraulic trailer brakes provide modulated braking oftrailers equipped with hydraulic brakes for controlledbraking. The system utilises delay valves that actuate thetrailer brakes automatically immediately prior to thetractor braking.

• Connects directly to the tractor's hydraulic system• Does not require a separate oil reservoir

The hydraulic trailer brake kit provides the necessarycomponents that the brake system requires in order tohook up to an implement with high-pressure hydraulicbrakes.

This is achieved by using delay valves that actuate thetrailer brakes prior to tractor braking.

Tractors with 50 km/h transmissions require a trailerbrake system (air and/or hydraulic), installed at thefactory.

Foot-operated speed control

The foot-operated speed control increases productivity ofthe tractor/operator unit by allowing the operator bettercontrol of engine speed for loader work, manoeuvring intight spaces and transport. This option provides theoperator excellent modulation of engine speed on wheeltractors.

Infinitely Variable Transmission (AutoPowrTM/IVTTM)equipped tractors can have an automotive-type operationwith the use of foot throttle. This is especially useful intransport applications. Foot throttle and AutoClutchaction of the transmission are easily coordinated by theoperator for smooth operation.

Leather trim package

John Deere is pleased to offer the leather trim package.The cab package includes a leather heated seat, leatherinstructional seat, leather wrapped steering wheel andrear window decal.

The seat covering provides all the benefits of the currentComfortCommandTM seat, coupled with leather. Theaddition of a heater element provides three levels of heatintensity for increased comfort during long, cold days.The leather instructional seat provides an additional levelof comfort and detail. The leather-wrapped steeringwheel provides an element of detail and a larger grip forcustomers who enjoy the look and feel of leather on theirsteering wheel. Lastly, the rear window decal will belocated at the top of the rear cab window and willprovide some dispersion of light into the cab onextremely sunny days.

Note: When ordering the leather trim option inconjunction with ActiveSeatTM, it is important tonote that the ActiveSeat embroidery will not beincluded.

Sun shade, front pull-down

The pull-down shade for the front windshield improvesoperator visibility on sunny days by blocking the sun'sbright light and reducing glare. The pull-down sunshadeallows the operator flexibility in the amount of windowcoverage desired through an infinitely adjustable rangeof movement and more positive friction detents found ina scissors-style linkage.

A front sun shade is included in all deluxe and premiumCommandViewTM II cabs on 8R and 8RT SeriesTractors. Rear sunshades are also available.

The rear windshield washer and wiper can be installed on8R and 8RT Series Tractors that are equipped with thebasic CommandViewTM cab or the DeluxeCommandView cab. The kit includes a fluid reservoirand spray outlets for front and rear windows.

Locking the cab with an individual key, different fromthe standard ignition key, is helpful for many differentapplications of the tractor. John Deere therefore offersthe Security door lock field installation kit.

BATTERY DISCONNECT SWITCH

Install the battery disconnect switch to easily disconnect the batteries in preparation for long storage periods. Theswitch cuts off power to the entire tractor.

9-pin electrical connector on 8R and 8RT Series Tractors

The 9-pin electrical connector is required for use of theTouchSetTM depth control with implements that have thisfeature. The harness provides a position input to thetractor selective control valves enabling the TouchSetsystem.

This feature allows the operator to adjust height anddepth of compatible remote lift cylinders by using theTouchSet controls in the cab.

The rotary beacon light is installed to meet requirements in commercial or governmental applications. The rotating,high-intensity light rests securely within an amber-coloured safety lens. Both the light and lens are replaceable ifdamaged.

The rotary beacon light features a fully adjustable, double-clamp design to provide a rigid vertical support stem.

RADIO, DEERE/DELPHI SOUND SYSTEMSThe John Deere 8R and 8RT Series Tractors offer CAN (Controller Area Network) based factory or field installedradio options. There are 3 packages available: no radio and speakers, deluxe and premium. The deluxe and premiumradio packages offer several features, functions and controls for a wide variety of entertainment options andpowerful performance.

The radio packages for the 8R and 8RT Series Tractors are outlined as follows:

AUXILIARY HITCH LIFT ASSIST

Lift assist wheels are often used with heavy three point hitch mounted implements. The hitch auxiliary lift kit provideshydraulic power for use with the lift assist wheels. Using this feature, turning and transport are made easier.

The Low Stand-by Pressure Control Kit provides easyinstallation and operation of equipment using powerbeyond. After installing this kit, customers will be able tomanually adjust the standby pressure of the tractor to theapplication and electronically turn the load sense signalon or off from the cab.

As a further benefit, when the power beyond applicationis not needed, the valve can be turned off, reducingpower needed to operate the hydraulic pump andlowering fuel consumption.

AUXILIARY HYDRAULIC COUPLERS FOR MOTOR RETURN, SUMP AND POWER BEYONDEasy connection of implements

Attaching implement hydraulic hoses to locations on the tractor other than into an SCV has always been a challengeto know what kits are required for compatibility. Getting them installed in a timely manner can at times be confusingand time-consuming.

To assist in making connections to large seeding, spreading and other equipment where multiple connections arerequired, there are now factory installed auxiliary hydraulic couplers on wheel tractors.

Auxiliary sump coupler

For applications requiring low return oil back pressure 68 kPa (10 psi) or less, the sump coupler kit allows oil toreturn directly to reservoir (differential case) from hydraulic motor, bypassing the remote coupler and SCV. Whenconnecting motor case or seal return hose to coupler, make sure the hose end and coupler are clean.

Hydraulic motor return couplers

The hydraulic motor return couplers can be used as a coupler for return oil flow, from hydraulic orbital motors andother devices, to the tractor's low-pressure return port, labelled "R" on the tractor.

Use of this connector specifically in the return to sump port position is for hydraulic components that require a"leak-off line" connection to the tractor. Components and implements that require this typically are larger orbitalmotors that require a drain for seal protection. The connector in the sump port is not to be used to carry return flowfrom a function to the tractor.

Power beyond couplers

Power beyond provides live hydraulic power to equipment. This kit supplies oil pressure to implements when theengine is running.

Any implement using power beyond must have a way to control oil flow. Use an independent control valve that ispressure and flow compensating (supplied separately) to control the oil flow rate from this coupler set.

The auxiliary hydraulic optional equipment includes the following:

A - Load sense coupler

B and C - Power beyond couplers - pressure (B) and return (C)

C - Hydraulic motor return couplers

D - Auxiliary sump coupler, flat face coupler for motor case drains used in planters and seeders

Note: For 8R and 8RT Series Tractors configured with 3 SCVs, a low standby pressure kit may be needed whenoperating planters with variable rate drive requiring 4 SCVs.

Auxiliary reservoir kit

The auxiliary reservoir kit for 8R and 8030 Series WheelTractors provides an additional 18.9 l capacity forhydraulic oil to ensure that the tractor has enoughhydraulic oil to fill the cylinders and lift large dumpwagons. It is designed for customer applications usinglarge single-acting cylinders or needing large hydraulicoil flow in a short period of time. Examples of commonapplications benefiting from the kit are large dumpwagons and beet or potato harvesters running at lowerengine rpm's.

The kit will only be available as a field installed kit tomeet the needs of specific customer applications and isnot needed for ordinary hydraulic operations.

REAR EH-SCV SINGLE LEVER CONTROL (JOYSTICK)

The Single-Lever Control (Joystick) Kit allows operationof the tractor's 3rd and 4th SCVs with the Joystick, toprovide an additional means of raising/loweringimplements, trailers or any other hydraulically poweredimplements.

The Joystick connects to the CommandARM and can beenable/disabled through the CommandCenter. Thesingle-lever control includes single-lever control, wiring,and bracket for CommandARMTM. The electronicjoystick mounts on the end of the CommandARMTM andplugs into the CommandARM controller.

Joystick operation:

Operator's hand must be placed between joystick andsafety flap on right side of joystick. Safety lockout rockerswitch is located at the front of the joystick base. The 3rdfunction is controlled by the buttons on the top of thejoystick.

Tractor requires four SCVs for joystick compatibility.

Up to 22 weights with 50 kg each can be installed to thefront weight support on one tractor. These would be 11on the left side (L38449) and 11 on the right side(L38450). These are up to 1100 kg additional ballastingto the front axle.

The trailer coupling front weight kit includes 2 specialcoupling weights weighing 50 kg each that can be usedwithin a front weight package to create a trailer coupling.The total kit weighs 100 kg.

The front weight support weighs 173 kg and has a 22-weight carrying capacity. Each front suitcase weightweighs approximately 47 kg.

Front idler weights

The optional front fenders for Mechanical Front WheelDrive (MFWD) or Independent Link SuspensionTM (ILS)help protect the operator station from mud and debris.There are two full-coverage front fenders offered:

The narrow fender design features 480 mm width frontfenders for tyres that are 420 mm in section width or less.

The wide fender design features 620 mm width frontfenders for tyres that are 480 mm in section width ormore.

Both fenders feature a full range of adjustments toaccommodate a variety of tread settings. A spring allowsthe fender bracket to bump the tractor frame and thenswivel, allowing for tighter turns. All fenders are madefrom heavy-duty polymers for high durability and longlife and offer UV protection for fade resistance.

Note: Fenders will only cover the inner tyre on tractorsequipped with front duals.

Extra width rear fender extensions

Extra width rear fender extensions are designed toprovide optimum mud control by increasing the coverageof the rear tyres in all directions. The fender extensionprovides an overall width coverage of 2.75 m.

Most important, the fender increases the coverage overthe rear of the tyre, decreasing the amount of mudbuildup on the CommandViewTM cab's windows, SCVstack, hitch and drawbar.

The extra width rear fender extensions are available asfactory installed or as a field installed attachment.
