Degree Program Description

The Graduate Diploma in TheologicalStudies is a one-year non-degreeprogram of study which aims is toprovide a basic introduction totheological studies. This program isintended for students who have noplans to pursue a career in theological

reflection, education or writing butwho desire personal enrichment andtraining in the art and skill oftheological reflection for use in theirpersonal ministry. Those whocomplete the program will be able to:

exegete the Bible according towsound hermeneutical principles,aided by the insight of Christiantradition, and in accordance withthe highest standards of academicscholarship.

do local theology by applying one'swown exegesis of the Bible to one'sown historical context in such a

way that holistic transformation iseffected within one's own social,political, and cultural spheres ofinfluence.

consistently model the disciplinedwand practical exercise of aninternally formed biblical holiness.

All who take the Graduate Diploma inTheological Studies program arerequired to complete 33 credit units,which include 27 credit units of core,

focus, and elective courses, as wellas the two prerequisite courses,Writing Academic Papers and Intro tothe Bible, which are 3 non-credit unitseach. These prerequisite courses,

however, may be validated.All credit units earned under theGraduate Diploma in TheologicalStudies program may be creditedtowards the Master of Arts inTheology degree.

All who take the Graduate Diploma inTheological Studies program arerequired to participate in at least oneCare Group session and attend theweekly Chapel services during thecourse of their study.
