MANAGEMENT SEMINAR TRACK -- 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

GOLF TOURNAMENTSponsored by Toledo Trans-Kit

October 30 - November 2, 2008 7ATRA’s Powertrain Expo 20086

Get ’em In The DoorThe 2008 ATRA Powertrain Expo management program is based in large part on the discussions on ATRA’s What’s Working forum. The What’s Working forum offers transmission business owners a place to discuss problems and solutions with other business owners facing the same issues. This year’s management training is designed to address those issues and help you build an action plan to bring more customers to your business.

Each day has a specific theme, starting with discussions on the state of the industry, your business model, data tracking and analysis, business planning, employee relations, and what your customers really think about automotive repair and what influences their decisions when it comes to fixing their car. Next, we’ll cover advertising strategies and marketing plans that’ll get the attention of perspective customers, followed by ways to turn them into customers. Finally, one of the most often overlooked topics: car delivery that turns your customers into sales agents.

Business is great... somewhere in your town— Be a part of it!

ATRA MEMBER MEETING — 7:30 am - 8:30 am ATRA Member MeetingHave you agonized over how to compete with the dealers? Let ATRA show you the results of our member poll. Stop by the annual ATRA Member Meeting and voice your opinion. At the end of the meeting you will feel a sense of relief by knowing what ATRA is doing to move forward with the industry trends.

Customer ContactsFriday’s sessions are designed to help you reach perspective customers. We’ll look at a wide range of marketing

and advertising methods so you can develop a plan that works best for you.

9:00 am - 12:30 pm

Grassroots Marketing So many times when we think of marketing our companies, the emphasis is on broad reaching media- but what about “ground zero”? Start in your own business neighborhood with community events and local sponsorships- you will be amazed at your ROI. And according to our most recent focus group studies this type of marketing drives trust within your existing and potential customer base.

Media Magic You might know what you want to say to potential customers, but do you know how to say it? In this workshop, we have invited a professional marketing/media company specializing in the automotive aftermarket to demonstrate some key points to consider in preparing your advertising message. Roadmap’s client list reads as a who’s who in the automotive world: From Roush-Fenway motorsports, Ford, NASCAR, to Nissan, Bosch and other world-class companies. One 90 minute consultation with this firm costs their clients literally thousands of dollars – money well spent too- but it is yours for just the cost of registration!

October 30 - November 2, 2008 9ATRA’s Powertrain Expo 20088

Creating A CustomerYou have an effective marketing plan but then what? Saturday’s sessions are designed to

help you turn “contacts” into “customers”.

9:00 am - 12:30 pm

Somebody Get The Phone!Unlike any phone procedure seminar you have ever attended before–why? Because this session is again, built on what your potential customers are thinking about when they call your shop. We know, because we asked them. What you thought you knew about your shop’s phone might go right out the window after this ground-breaking Expo session. If you want to generate more sales than you ever dreamed possible- then somebody better get the phone!

The Customer Encounter CE Up to this point on our collective journey towards getting more customers in your shop, we have focused on differentiating your shop from everyone else’s. In this session we look at the next step; the initial face-to-face contact of your potential customer. Learn processes and techniques guaranteed to reaffirm your potential customer’s decision. Here is where the rubber meets the road and you continue to earn that trust factor, so important to your customer base. Do this right and you enjoy the dividends that we call referrals or Word of Mouth. Do it wrong, and be prepared to suffer the damaging consequences that are sure to follow. This is the make-or-break stage of creating new customers and another seminar first at Expo.

October 30 - November 2, 2008 11ATRA’s Powertrain Expo 200810

After The Sale Referrals are the most frequent method potential customer’s use for selecting an automotive repair shop. What you do and say after the sale has a huge impact on your ability to reach and create new customers.

9:00 am - 12:00 pm

The Car DeliveryDelivering the car may seem like the end of this sale, but it’s really the beginning of new sales. This is an often forgotten phase of creating and retaining great customers, but it’s one that the most successful in our industry acknowledge as being the most important. We’ll look at ways you can make your customers feel good about their decision to be your customer.

Staying In Contact These days, customers are looking to get more from an automotive repair shop than just getting their car fixed. They want the security of knowing you’ll be there if there’s a problem. Regular reminder and courtesy notices are a great way to let them know you’re still there… thinking of them. We’ll cover several ways to stay in contact and build your customer base.
