Atmospheric or Aerial Perspective

• Leonardo called this “The Perspective of Disappearance”.

• The perception of depth in nature as enhanced by haze in the atmosphere.

• A technique of rendering depth or distance in art by modifying the tone or hue and distinctness of objects perceived as receding from the picture plane.

• Foreground, Middle ground, Background

• Color intensity is much greater closer to the viewer and tends to be more pale as it recedes.
