Our faith developmentprogram includes:U Daily Religious Education and Classroom Prayer Students attend daily Theology classes, which begin

with prayer, to strengthen the formation of a personal relationship with God.

U Eucharistic Liturgies and the Sacrament of Reconciliation

Daily Mass is offered in our Chapel, and all students attend a school-wide Mass monthly. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is available weekly, and also school-wide during the seasons of Advent and Lent.

U Yearly Class Retreat Opportunities Upperclassmen are selected and trained by our faculty

to plan and lead several retreats each year. These retreats are offered by grade level, and invite the students to discover and then deepen, their relationship with God through our Catholic Faith.

U Service Commitment Serving others is an essential part of our call to follow

Jesus Christ. The service program is an integral part of campus life and students are encouraged to complete 100 community service hours throughout their 4 years.

U Ministry Opportunities Various ministry clubs offer students the ability to serve

in areas of personal interest, such as with Respect Life, Best Buddies, the Exceptional Theater Company, the elderly, and local poverty relief organizations. School-wide food and toy collections are led by students to benefit local charities.

As part of our Campus Ministry program, Archbishop McCarthy High School provides our students the opportunity to serve as part of a Mission in various locations.

“It (the Church) invites us to consider the missio ad gentes (mission activity of the Church) as a great, immense work of mercy, both spiritual and material. On this World Mission Sunday, all of us are invited to “go out” as missionary disciples, each generously offering their talents, creativity, wisdom and experience in order to bring the message of God’s tenderness and compassion to the entire human family.” (Message of Pope Francis for World Mission Day 2016)

As students learn to serve, they also serve to learn – about the needs of others, and about their vocation of living the Gospel as a disciple of Jesus Christ.

In-House Test PrepWith college degrees becoming increasingly more important, and our society and colleges becoming more selective and competitive, we have seen an increase in the number of students who request information on SAT/ACT preparation. As these SAT and/or ACT scores are an important determining factor in college admissions decisions, we want our students to gain the confidence and skills to achieve higher scores. To help our students achieve this goal, we have planned in-house test preparation opportunities.

AthleticsMaverick teams have a rich history of excellence on and off the playing field.

One of the primary goals of our athletic program is to accentuate the development of the whole student and help them achieve a personal level of excellence in the

areas of academics, fitness, teamwork, commitment, respect for others and sportsmanship. Currently, we field 33 varsity, 19 junior varsity, 2 freshman and

2 club teams. Over the past 21 years our varsity teams have won 93 district team titles, 35 regional team titles, 10 team state championships (seven in baseball, two

in women’s golf and one in men’s volleyball), 7 team state runner-up and 9 individual state championships. At the national level, our baseball team has won two National Titles, one FCDA National Championship in Dance, and two individual National Champions in wrestling. Throughout our school’s history, the varsity sports

program has maintained a winning percentage of close to 70%.

Last year our varsity teams once again ranked as one of the top 1A to 6A programs in Broward County as we posted an overall record of 382 wins, 217 losses and 1 tie.

Academically, our fall, winter and spring teams were named FHSAA Overall 6A Team Academic Champions. Teams being named FHSAA 6A Academic Team

Champions were football; women’s volleyball, basketball and soccer; men’s soccer and basketball; and competition cheerleading. Overall, our varsity teams averaged

an un-weighted GPA of a 3.0 or higher. The athletic department is very proud of these accomplishments, as our coaches work hard to maintain the values and

philosophies of the school. Our summer sports camps have grown to be some of the best in Broward County. We offer camps in baseball, basketball, dance, soccer,

volleyball and wrestling.

Individually, over the last 21 years, 223 of our athletes have earned First Team All-County Honors in a variety of sports by the local media, and 245 have signed college scholarships to continue both

their academic and athletic careers.
