    SAFETY DURING MAINTENANCE

The owner is responsible for adequate training of thepersonnel maintaining the pumps. In principle allmaintenance has to be performed on a non-energisedpump. Observe the procedures as mentioned in themanual.

    ELECTRICAL SAFETY

Pumps must be plugged into an outlet that is properlyinstalled and grounded in accordance with all codesand ordinances. Never remove the grounding prongor modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adaptorplugs. Check with a qualified electrician if you are indoubt as to whether the outlet is properly grounded.Do not abuse the power cable. Never use the powercable to carry the pumps or pull the plug from anoutlet. Keep the power cable away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged power cablesincrease the risk of electric shock.Use a network protected by a ground fault circuitinterrupter.

    CONVERSION AND SPARE PARTS

Conversions are only allowed after written consent ofthe manufacturer. Always use original spare parts.Unauthorised conversion and / or the use of non-original spare parts will void any warranty claims.

    AUTHORISED PERSONNEL

Only people that have the right skills should beallowed to operate, adjust, perform maintenance orrepair on Atlas Copco equipment. It is the responsibility of management to appointoperators with the appropriate training and skill foreach category of job.Skill level 1: OperatorAn operator is trained in all aspects of operating theunit with the push-buttons, and is trained to know thesafety aspects.Skill level 2: Mechanical technicianA mechanical technician is trained to operate the unitthe same as the operator. In addition, the mechanicaltechnician is also trained to perform maintenance andrepair, as described in the instruction manual, and isallowed to change settings of the control and safetysystem. A mechanical technician does not work onlive electrical components.Skill level 3: Electrical technicianAn electrical technician is trained and has the samequalifications as both the operator and the mechanicaltechnician. In addition, the electrical technician maycarry out electrical repairs within the variousenclosures of the unit. This includes work on liveelectrical components.Skill level 4: Specialist from the manufacturerThis is a skilled specialist sent by the manufacturer orits agent to perform complex repairs or modificationsto the equipment. In general it is recommended that not more than twopeople operate the unit, more operators could lead tounsafe operating conditions.

    DANGERS WHEN NOT FOLLOWING SAFETYINSTRUCTIONS

Not observing the safety instructions may lead tpersonal injury, damage to the equipment anenvironmental hazards. Not observing the safetinstructions will void any warranty claim.

    UNINTENDED USE

The reliability of the pump is only guaranteed when itis used according the specifications in this manual. The limits as indicated are not to be exceeded underany circumstances.Do not use the pump to transport water for humanconsumption, for water well pumping or forinstallation in an explosive atmosphere. Caustic, slightly inflammable and other explosivesubstances such as petrol, petroleum, dilutednitrogen, greases, oils, salt water and waste waterfrom toilets as well as sludgy water that has a slowerflow capacity than water, should not be transportedusing the pump. The temperature of the transported fluids should notexceed 35°C.The appliance is not suitable for continuous pumpoperation or as a stationary installations (such as alifting device, fountain pump).

General descriptionWEDA dewatering pumps are electrical submersiblepumps for dewatering applications in constructionsites, industry, mining, tanks, pools etc. The rangeconsists of several dewatering pumps, all designed forthough pumping in demanding applications. Thecompact design and light weight make the pumpsvery versatile and easy to install. The design with outer jacket for cooling and motorprotector keeps the pump running safely undervarious conditions. The triple shaft seal assures a longlife time and the semi vortex wet end minimizesmaintenance.

Features:• Dry running capability. Motor protector.• Plug and pump. Built-in high torque capacitor.• Double mechanical shaft seals in silicon carbide.• Additional lip seal for extended life time of the

    primary seal.

WEDA 04 and 08 are compact versatile dewateringpumps for various pumping needs. The polyurethanesemi vortex impeller is designed to handle the waterin construction sites, manholes and industrial pits etc.with very low risk of clogging.

WEDA 04B, is a residual water pump that pumps athe way down to 1 mm. The rubber covered bottomplate avoids scratches or damage to tank or poobottoms. The 25 mm outlet comes with an one-toucnon-return valve, allowing to lift and move the pumwithout spilling or loosing suction. The pump must binstalled on a smooth surface.By changing the outlet to a 50 mm outlet, the pumcan be used as a regular dewatering pump.Suitable for emptying pools, tanks etc. and cleaninup after flooding where no pump sumps are available

    HOUSING AND SEAL CASING

The housing is made of steel and the seal casing imade of die cast aluminium.

    IMPELLER

The WEDA 04 and 08 pumps are equipped with polyurethane semi vortex impeller.

    OVERLOAD PROTECTION

The pump is supplied with an automatically resettinoverload protection.

    STOPPING

Take the plug out of the socket and take the pump outof the pump site. If the pump has been operating indirty water, allow it to run in clean water for a shortperiod or flush clean water through the discharge port.If clay, cement or other sticky dirt remain in the pumpthis may clog the impeller and seal area.

    Operating instructionsTRANSPORT

    STARTING

Check the power cable with mains plug for damagebefore every use. If the power cable is damaged, exchange it immediately.Check whether the power supply matches the ratingon the Dataplate.Check whether the fluid to be pumped matches thecharacteristics mentioned in section Technicaldetails.

Attach a suitable hose to the outlet and make sure it ithoroughly tightened. Avoid making excessive bendin delivery hoses or piping, as this may cause reduceflow.Run the electric cable so that sharp bends are avoideand there is no danger of the cable being pinched ootherwise being damaged. Take care that the pump is submerged before puttinthe plug in the socket. Never install the pump directlon a weak soil layer or muddy ground. The pump masink and mud/soil may enter the pump and reduce thflow. Check that the pump is pumping. In case the motor stops due to overload or a blockeimpeller, first pull the plug out of the socket beforremoving the pump from the pump site to check fowhy the pump has stopped. Remove the blockage, lethe pump cool down and resume pumping.

Always use the handle to lift the pump.Never use the power cable to lift ortransport the pump. Always be carefulnot to let it fall or bump it against thewall or other equipment.

The pump may not be used in anexplosive / inflammable environment orused to pump inflammable liquids!

If the pump is being used for pumpingwater out of a swimming pool:• nobody is allowed to be in the pool

during pumping,• the pump must be connected via a

residual current device having arated redidual operating current notexceeding 30 mA.

Never operate the pump without thstrainer.

    Maintenance

    EXTERNAL DAMAGE, LOOSE PARTS

Make sure that all screws, bolts and nuts are tight.Check the condition of the pump lifting handle andreplace if damaged or worn. Replace any external partthat appears worn or damaged.

    MOTOR INSULATION RESISTANCE

Use a 500 V DC Megger and measure the insulationbetween the phases and between any phase andground. Resistance values should be over 1 M ohm. Ifabnormal readings are obtained, immediately handthe pump in for repair. Also observe any local requirement regulations. Thestricter one will prevail.

    OIL

Check the condition of the oil to see if any wateleakage has occurred. Remove the oil plug. Take aoil sample using a pipette. Check for impurities anemulsification. (Oil must be clear.) If water intrusiohas occurred, check the seal and replace if necessaryRefill the seal chamber with fresh oil. Refer to sectioTechnical details for type and quantity of oil.
