We just obtained the authorization to hire two people

on a temporary basis:

• Claudette Moïse who will be managing the DLI unit and the

transition to new technology

• Chantal Ripp who will be monitoring the listserv, webminar,

moving to new technology, survival guide , DLI update, etc.


Since December 2010, two new institutions stopped

their subscription to the DLI:

• Niagara College

• Durham College

This brings the membership to 75

Follow-up with other colleges that did contact us

for information related to the DLI

Please note that E-STAT will be archived on

June 30, 2012. E-STAT will remain

accessible as is until June 30, 2013, but its

content will no longer be updated. It will be

discontinued July 1, 2013. We encourage

you to start using the free CANSIM database

and to visit the census portal for timely

information.

PUMFs have already been free since

beginning of 2011 but requires a licence first

CANSIM is free since February 1st 2012

Most of the data on the on StatCan Web site is

now free including Census and Geography –only

a few exceptions like Postal Code

Custom tabulations remains for a fee and Marie

Anderson will talk about this in the Census and

NHS presentation

Data obtained from the collection can be shared,

use commercially, put on Web sites as long as

you cite the source

This is what is outlined in the draft licence

distributed

PUMFs still requires a licence Non DLI users have to go to StatCan first to sign the licence

and then obtain the PUMFs required

DLI cannot share the data with non DLI members as it was

before

They can use the file on a commercial basis but they cannot

share the data file

Cannot use for commercial purposes

For now, remains as is

No new files until negotiations with Canada post will be

completed
