As part of Olympic and Paralympic history, we would like to outline our plans to once

again host this prestigious sporting competition.

Today, it is with emotion, and with passion, that I lay before you our hope and ambition to organize the Games of the 32nd Olympiad in Atlanta in 2020.

Atlanta's bid is that of friendship: a united, enthusiastic people who are rallying nationwide to host the Games. A City determined to place her excellence, her sites, her way of life and her experience in the organization of major sporting events to further the dreams and values of the Olympic spirit.

All Atlantans are ready, all Georgians are ready. They are eagerly awaiting your choice, your sovereign decision. Atlanta is longing to welcome athletes from all over the world, together with the entire Olympic family. We are united behind a collective, ethical and forward-looking project. A project combining innovation with respect for the environment.

Atlanta, as you know, is deeply committed to the values of the Olympic spirit. The values of peace, sharing, respect, friendship and dialogue among peoples and among cultures. Values also shared by us here in the South.Atlanta is intent on offering the world an unforgettable Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Our Concept & MotivationSince becoming part of the Olympic family, we have desired to host the Games again. The people of Atlanta, Georgia are eager to share our friendliness and warmth once more

Our concept is to have a Games that are fun, inspiring and memorable. Venues that are located within close proximity, an athletes village in the heart of the city and venues. Short travelling times for both athletes and spectators.

Our party will bring together sports and entertainment. Our dream will unite billions of sports fans from around the world.

Our city has had its critics, but here in the south we rise to become stronger and more successful.

The Games budgetThe Atlanta Bid Committee has made available $2.6 million for its bid campaign, this has

been raised mainly through sponsorship and Government funding

Atlanta 2020's budget for the Games is reasonably conservative, reasonable and feasible, it has been developed based on in-depth analysis and consulatation with leading Games experts.

An Atlanta Games would produce nearly $3.8 billion in revenues from ticket sales, sponsorship and other sources, offering substantial bennefits to the IOC and the Olympic movement. The Games expenditure budget of more than $3 billion includes sufficient funding to ensure an

outstanding Games experience for all Olympic constituant groups.

The Games budget includes ample financial contingency for any potential operating shortfall, and Atlanta 2020 has further secured a substantial OCOG financial shortfall guarantee from the City

of Atlanta. The City of Atlanta and its governmental partners have commited to provide government related services at no cost to ACOG.

The Games will be conducted in a favourable tax environment for ACOG, the IOC and their commercial partners.

As most venues and infrastructure are already in place, the financial aspects of our Games will be more sufficient and amply distributed to ensure a memorable Games.

IBC & MPCThe International Broadcasting Centre and Media Press Centre will both be located inside the Georgia World Congress Center. With ample space and state of the art technology, this will provide a comfortable and spacious setting in the heart of the city and main venues.

Atlanta 2020 recognizes that as the home of the Olympic and Paralympic media the IBC/MPC is the cornerstone for bringing the stories of athletic triumph and celebration to a global audience. That is why this is situated in the heart of the action. The Atlanta media trasnport will provide frequent and convinient access to the IBC/MPC. Scheduled services for the media will begin 14 days prior to the Opening Ceremony and 3 days after the Closing Ceremony

The centre will provide: more than 500 wireless network sites, an extensive state of the art fibre optic and cabled network, first class air conditioning and 6 back up generators.

Media Village & AccommodationThe Media Village will be loacted next to the Athletes Olympic Village and the new Atlanta Velodrome.

Each appartment will contain wireless broadband, phone connections and satelite television. En suite restroom facilities and kitchen areas will also be included.

The Olympic Garden will seperate the Athletes Village from the Media Village and will an ideal setting for press interviews and get togethers.

After the Olympic and Paralympic Games both villages will become affordable housing for the people of Atlanta as well as student accommodation for the city's colleges and universities.

HotelsAs a major world city, Atlanta has many a sufficient ammount of hotels to accommodate its visitors during the Games. From budget to luxury Atlanta has something for everyone.

Our city has more hotels now that it did for the Centenial Games in 1996. Plans have already been given the go ahead for the construction of a hotel resort near Stone Mountain Park and also a 30 storey hotel in the heart of the city centre.

Other Accommodation

Apart from our wide choice of hotels, the city of Atlanta also has many self serviced appartments at very affordable prices.

Georgia State University Student accommodation will also be available for cheap lets during the Games, giving a close city location and friendly environment.

There are a number of hotels situated at Atlanta International Airport, and throughout the state of Georgia.

All of our visitors will be treated with first class hospitality and receive our famous southen warm welcome.

Transport Infrastructure

The city of Atlanta is served well with many transport links. All major US Motorways run past the city making it accessible by road.

The MARTA Network combines busses and rail to provide a frequent and well covered public transport system. There are stops very close to evey venue within the city.

An additional line would be built to encompass the area where the new velodrome, athletes and media villages will be situated.

A special Olympics timetable will be in operation, which will be able to transport visitors fast and frequently, bypassing any traffic congestion by useage of designated lanes, and extra rail services.

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport

Atlanta Airport is the busiest in the world for passenger numbers, we fly to dozens of international destinations.

Major airlines and businesses are located here and this is the arrival gate to our amazing city.

The Airport, which has 5 runways is located 10 miles from the city centre. This can take between 10 and 20 minutes depending on traffic, come 2020, a designated bus lane will shorten this distance. There is also a MARTA station here waiting to speed you to the city.

Games transport & Travelling

The Beltline Project would encircle the city of Atlanta with a redeveloped light rail system that would enable people to get around easily and more efficiently. We aim to have this completed in time for the Games and would be a vital asset in transporting visitors and fans to Games venues. The line would also connect with the existing MARTA lines for consistency and ease.

The Atlanta Gold Network of busses would be dedicated to the Games and have their own lanes for quicker journey times to and fro venues. Travelling times in the city itself would be short. To the Stone Mountain venues estimated time would be 20/30 mins and 40/50 mins for Lake Lanier.

Population & MeteorologyAs of 2008 Atlanta has a population of nearly 550,000. People from all races, religions and cultures have made our city their home. The racial makeup of the city was 56.8% black, 37.7% white, 2% Asian, 0.2% American Indian, 2.3% from other races, and 1.1% from two or more races; 4.7% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. The city of Atlanta also has one of the highest LGBT populations per capita. It ranks 3rd of all major cities, behind San Francisco and slightly behind Seattle, with 12.8% of the city's total population recognizing themselves as gay, lesbian, or bisexual. A truly multicultural city.

Hosting experience1996 saw the city of Atlanta host

the Centenial Olympic Games and the 1996 Paralympic Games

These Games confirmed Atlanata as a first class sporting city. Over the 16 days we saw athletes live their dreams. From our spectacular and fitting opening ceremony under our warm southern sunset, to the fun and laughter of our Jazzy closing ceremony.

World records were broken and life long friendships made.

The Games changed our city, provided sports venues for our citizens. We welcomed the world and with that experience and knowledge, we know that we can provide a successful Games experience.

Atlanta has also hosted two Superbowl Finals, in 1994 and 2000. These again were successful and seen thousands of visitors descend on the city. The magnificent Georgia Dome, the setting for these memorable events and spectacular half time shows, one of these produced by no other than Disney.

In 2007 we welcomed players from all over the United States for the NCAA Basketball Championships. An honour that we again will have in 2013 when the Championships return to the Phillips Arena.

In 2011 the Georgia Dome will play host to Wretlemania, an event that has produced Olympic athletes in the past, once more thousnads will come to Atlanta and will receive our best hospitality and welcome.

On a daily basis Atlanta is hosting sports events, we have socce, baseball, ice hockey, swimming, track and field, basketball to name a few, being played here. We love sport, we are hungry for more.
