Important Updates

• Water conditions We have taken advice from Australian Bureau of Meteorology,

local professional life guards, and the Mooloolaba Surf Club on surf

conditions.

Forecast is for no adverse conditions on the swim course for

Sunday. No change to swim course likely.

We will continue to monitor and advise one hour prior to race start

on Sunday if this changes.

Check-in procedures

Check-in at Registration• Accreditation – wrist band in race pack must be worn at

all times

• Uniform check (name, country, sponsor logos, ITU logo, zippers) – photos taken of each uniform. Wearing other uniform during the race = DQF

• Run cap check Maximum one logo, maximum height 4cm and total area 20cm2

• Body marking check Decals in packet on arms

Transition Area

• Helmet check: new rule on branding

• Helmet on bike: Don’t leave your helmet fastened in the transition.

Time penalty = 15 seconds in TA1

Pre-start Procedure

Athlete Line up:

• 10 minutes before start

• Line up adjacent to the start

• Move to the start line - line on sand, no pontoon or

numbered spaces.

• Select your position and stay behind the line!

Athlete blocking more than one position = DQF

Start Procedure

Athletes in position:

• The start can be given any time after “On your

mark”

• Air horn blast

• The race starts

Athletes not moving forward at the start will receive

a time penalty of 15 seconds in TA1.

False Start Procedures

False start with many athletes:

• Several horn blasts

• Boards will move in front of you

• Everyone goes back to his / her original spot

Valid start with early starters:

• If a few athletes start before the horn and everyone

else starts with the horn, the false starter(s) receive

a time penalty of 15 seconds in TA1.

• During the time penalty athlete can not take any

equipment!

Run Penalty Box

Rule interpretation

Mount after the mount line: It has to be one contact of the athlete foot

with the floor after the mount line. If this contact doesn’t occur the action

is considered as mount the bike before the mount line.

Dismount before the dismount line: It has to be one contact of the athlete

foot with the floor before the dismount line. If this contact doesn’t occur

the action is considered as dismount the bike before the dismount line.

Discharge or store your equipment inside your designated area:

Leaving the equipment s(swim cap, googles, helmet, etc.) in the

designated box.

Rack the bike inside your own space: In case of Traditional bike rack,

the bike must be racked with both sides of the handlebar or the seatpost

with 0,5m to the name plate.

If during mount or dismount an athlete loses their shoe/s: or other

equipment, the items will be collected by TOS. No penalty appies.

Post-race Procedures

• “Mixed Zone” - immediately after finish 1, 2, 3 finishers

MUST be available for ceremony

• Bike checkout from transition – approx 11:20

• ITU Medal Ceremony – immediately after Oceania

races adjacent to finish line.

• Dress up – race uniform or country clothing

• Hats / visors allowed on podium, if approved.

• Please follow the ambush marketing rules

• Award ceremony – at 2.30 at The Wharf

• Prize money will be electronically transferred post

event.

Ambush Marketing Rules

• Ambush marketing is defined as:

“Deliberately using the opportunity of live television

and media photographers to acquire additional

exposure for your sponsor product, apparel or brand.”

• The consequence for this behavior is:

1. The athlete will immediately forfeit their prize money

for that event

Post-race Procedures

Anti-Doping Control

• Photo ID is needed for every athlete to have ready for

Doping Control

Medical

• Only team medical officials area allowed in this area in

case there is an athlete from their team. Every NF can

have 1 team medical upgade pass, but only for team

doctors. Team doctors must be registered through ITU

system.

2015 Competition Rule Update

• Section 2.8 b) – any kind of propaganda (religious,

political, racial, etc) will not be accepted

• Section 2.12 – exceptional conditions at an event

• Section 5.2 e) (ii) – helmet must be used in all

official activities when the athlete rides the bike:

competition, familiarisation, training sessions

• Section 6.1 a) v) – barefoot running is allowed

2015 Competition Rule Update

• Section 6.2 a) – an athlete will be judged as

finished the moment any part of their torso crosses

a vertical line extending from the leading edge of the

finish line

• Section 7.1 b) – racking the bikes in transition

• Section 7.1 g) – clarification in cases athletes lose

their equipment on mount / dismount line

• Appendix F – There is no limitation in displaying

manufacturers or sponsors on the helmet, but it has

to be custom made or as manufactured. Any added

stickers of sponsors or manufacturers will be

removed.
