Conroy Tractor in Mt. Pleasant, TX, has a long and proud history of supporting the FFA. At their 66th Anniversary celebra-

tion in October, they incorporated an FFA fundraiser into their festivities to benefit local FFA chapters. The event, which fea-tured live music and a barbecue, drew more than 2,000 people to the Titus County Fairgrounds, and raised nearly $40,000 – more than $3,500 for each of the eight local chapters. “These FFA members are our future cus-tomers,” says dealer principal Joel Conroy. “We noticed several years ago that the FFA is the first thing the schools cut as far as money is concerned and that’s one of the reasons we go all out to support them.” To raise money for their chapter, the FFA members sold tickets for a number of items, including a new rifle and a large YETI cooler, which were raffled off at the anniversary celebration. Each chapter kept the money they collected from selling the tickets. Addi-tionally, Conroy Tractor’s vendors generous-ly donated auction items and each chapter built a project that was sold to the highest bidder. Projects included cattle feeders, a blue hay fork, chairs and tables, a gun chest, and a trailer hay rack. All pro-ceeds went back to the FFA chapters. The dealership has held similar events during the past few years, but the sup-port goes back even farther. Conroy’s father, John A. Conroy, started the dealer-ship in 1950. A customer came into the dealership not long ago and said that he remembered Mr. Conroy driving him to Dallas when he was an FFA student in 1953 to compete in the tractor driving contest at the State Fair.

National FFA Week February 18 – 25, 2017 Each year, FFA chapters around the country celebrate National FFA Week. The week-long tradition began in 1947 when the National FFA Board of Directors designated the week of George Washington's birthday as National FFA Week in recognition of his legacy as an agriculturist and farmer. National FFA Week is a great opportunity to advocate for agricultural education and show your support for the FFA. Let your community know through advertising, social media or special events that your dealership is behind this important youth leadership organization. Want to tweet about National FFA Week? Use hashtag #FFAweek and share @NationalFFA Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat posts.

Nearly 2,000 people gathered at the Titus County Fairgrounds to celebrate Conroy Tractor’s 66th Anniversary. A raffle and auction held during the event raised nearly $40,000 for the FFA.

CFGA Leadership Award Presented at Annual Conference In its continued support of the hay and forage industry in Canada, New Holland partnered with the Canadian Forage and Grasslands Association (CFGA) as a Platinum Sponsor of the organization’s seventh annual conference, held November 15-17 in Winni-peg. This year’s conference theme, Grass and Green in 2016, celebrated the important role of Canadian forage and grassland managers to the country’s ag economy. The conference highlighted the role of forage and grassland as a critical foundation for sustaina-ble growth and development throughout Canada’s agriculture industry. The forage and grassland segment services numerous ag sectors, plays an important role in maintaining soil health and productivity, and provides goods and services that benefit all Canadians. The conference featured information on ad-vanced forage management, several virtual farm tours, an exhibition, student poster competition, and a pre-conference tour to SG&R Farms and the MBFI Research Farm. During the CFGA Awards Banquet, Doug Wray of Alberta was presented with the 2016 CFGA Leader-ship Award. Wray, a driving force in the formation of the CFGA, maintains a 225-plus cow operation with his wife, Linda. They have developed year-round grazing strategies on their farm.

Showing Customers You Care Just like providing excellent customer service, customer appreciation is a core value at Dinkel Implement in Norfolk and Schribner, NE. “We give away hundreds of gifts each year to thank our customers for their business,” says Office Manager Sherry Judy. This year, Dinkel gave a set of custom printed Dinkel glasses and New Holland hoodies to their loyal customers as Christmas gifts. Customers could choose from three different hoodie styles. One customer, the Schmit family, presented the dealership with a 5”x7” photo of their family proudly wearing their hoodies. The Schmits are longtime customers. In fact, in 1997 the patriarch of the family, Eugene Schmit, bought the 25,000th TR combine coming off the line at the Grand Is-land plant and brought his whole family along for the celebration. The combine was decked out with a special panel commemorating the event.

“Word has it, that panel is still in the Schmit’s possession,” says Sherry. “Goes to show just how important it is to keep loyal customers and let them know how much they are appreciated!”

Talk about a loyal New Holland family! The John Schmit family of McLean, NE, shows their New Holland pride.

The CFGA Leadership Award, which has been sponsored by New Holland for the past five years, recognizes individuals, groups or organizations that exemplify the goals of the CFGA and whose leadership has impact of national or international significance. Tyler Roberts, New Holland Territory Business Manag-er, represented New Holland at the Conference and presented the Leadership Award to Wray.

Dealer Sales Training in Saskatoon Provides Solid Base of Product Knowledge

For dealer sales representatives, a solid base of product knowledge is one of the main avenues to increasing

sales. It’s often the key to confidently pre-senting a product, overcoming objections, and completing the sale. This year’s Dealer Sales Training event on December 14 and 15 at the New Holland Training Center in Saskatoon covered all of these bases. “The trainers were very honest and upfront about the equipment,” says Ian Anhorn, sales-man, Linden Ag Centre, Linden, AB. “We were very happy to come back to the dealership with this training.” Anhorn attended the event with dealership owner and salesman Ken Toews. “We always make it a habit this time of year to attend this annual training,” says Anhorn. Approximately 170 Canadian dealer sales representatives attended the training where

product experts armed them with the product knowledge they need to effectively sell New Holland products when they return to their dealerships. Breakout sessions onT9/SmartTrax™ II, SP windrowers, CR and CX combines, air carts and seeding equipment, Guardian™ sprayers, and light con-struction equipment focused on the latest product updates as well as instruction on key features and benefits.

Product breakout sessions focused on the latest improvements and competitive advantages of New Holland equipment.

New Holland Night Rocks at IIHA Junior Hockey World Championships

New Holland’s sponsorship of IIHA Junior Hockey pro-vided a great opportunity for brand exposure — and a lot of fun on and off the ice — during the IIHA World Junior Championships at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto. As part of the Score Four promotion, starting in Septem-ber, hockey fans were invited to go to their New Holland dealership to sign up for a chance to win four tickets, travel and accommodations to the games in Toronto December 27-29. The lucky winner was Brian Corkum, a customer of McCauley Equipment Sales in Orillia, ON. “It was an awesome experience,” he says. “I even got to help present the sticks to the MVPs at the end of one of the games. I was a little nervous, but it was really exciting.” December 28 was New Holland Night at the games. The first 5,000 fans received New Holland crazy hair, four fans were selected from the stands to participate in a pedal tractor race, and New Holland helped present the MVP awards following the game. At the New Holland suite, New Holland also hosted more than a dozen VIP customers who were invited by their dealers.

Innovative Ideas and Strategies Shared at Precision Farming Conference

New Holland’s Precision Farm-ing Conference, held in Phoenix, AZ, from December 7-9, focused on best practices, strategies and

tactics for dealers looking to increase their business through precision farming expertise. Participants went through 12 sessions that covered the entire precision farming business at their dealerships. Several cours-es dealt with new product releases while others dealt with customer relations and service. Two highlights of the Precision Farming Conference were the RTK+ and telematics session and a roundtable discus-sion. The roundtable was an open dialog session where participants shared their thoughts about current and future needs and provided direction to the brand on how they would like to see PLM™ progress and what would help them grow their precision farming business. New Holland Vice President Bret Lieberman was the keynote speaker, and also on hand to present the awards in the PLM™ Innovation and Success Contest. For the contest, dealers were invited to submit new and innovative ideas they have implemented in their Precision Farming Business Plans. Watch for interviews with the PLM Inno-vation & Success award-winning dealers in upcoming issues of the Dealer News.

New Holland Wins Four AE50 Awards from ASABE for Product Innovations

The American Society of Agricultural and Biologi-cal Engineers (ASABE) has named four New Holland products as winners of the 2017 AE50 awards. AE50 awards honor the year’s 50 most innovative designs in engineering products or systems for the food and agriculture industries. The winners are:

The IntelliBale™ system automates the tractor and baling control functions, reducing operator fatigue and fuel consumption and enables the baler to control the tractor’s forward motion, bale wrapping, bale ejection, and tailgate closing.

SmartTrax™ with Flex Technology for CR or CX combines offers an alternative to traction tires to reduce ground compaction and improve operator comfort.

CX/CR combines with the Everest Leveling System give operators a new way to experience combine technology in extremely hilly conditions. The I2J Everest Leveling System is a stand-alone kit that converts the harvester from a standard combine into an expert hill-climbing machine.

The T7 Heavy-Duty Enhanced Engine Brake fea-ture is designed to increase the durability of the tractor and trailed equipment’s brakes when decelerating or holding a speed while descend-ing a gradient.

NJPA Leads to Increase in Sales & Profit

In an effort to increase sales, Clinton Tractor & Implement in Clinton, NY, decided to revisit a target market that had proved fruitful in the past. They shifted their focus to municipali-

ties and educational facilities, two market segments where there has been a recent influx of purchasing. Clinton Tractor owner Greg Calidonna tells the story: “With education and government entities, as well as non-public schools and non-profit organizations, being able to purchase on state contract through NJPA we decided this was the perfect market to revisit. In the past, these associations were forced to go through a rigorous bidding process, which proved to be time-consuming and didn’t always provide them with the right equipment for the job. “As the late astronaut John Glenn wrote, ‘I guess the question I'm asked most often is: When you were sitting in that capsule listening to the countdown, how did you feel?" Well, the answer to that one is easy. I felt exactly how you would feel if you were getting ready to launch and knew you were sitting on top of two million parts — all built by the lowest bidder on a government contract.’ “This was our governmental agencies’ biggest complaint in the past: they had to buy from the lowest bidder and always received the lowest service because of it. “Our biggest problem now was to find a way in which to convene all of these organizations in order to provide them with the necessary NJPA buying infor-mation. We decided to hold a luncheon to accommodate each association. Our marketing team designed hard copy and electronic invitations in order to reach out to all those that applied within our company sales territory. In addition, we contacted everyone on our list by phone in order to extend a more personal invitation. “With a number of vendors on hand, as well as a representative from Greg Haglin’s team (GST), Bob Stanton spoke on the benefits of NJPA cooperative pur-chasing and addressed nearly 100 people in attendance. By providing food as well as an equipment walk-through with our vendors, we were able to establish approximately 20 leads on new equipment purchases. Additionally our other equipment gained exposure that it would not have received otherwise.”

“Informing schools,

non-profits and

government entities on

how to use NJPA to

purchase equipment

has led to an increase

in sales volume and

profitability at our

dealership.”
