    I. PRELIMINARY INFORMATION

    Organization Vision and Mission

    Organization Vision

Comprised of excellent culturally-oriented leaders rooted in Ignatian values andFilipino-Chinese traditions, Celadon envisions a Filipino-Chinese communitygeared towards nation building.

    OrganizationMission

At Ateneo Celadon, our mission is to be an organization that inspires todevelop purpose-driven leaders for nation building through social changeimbued with Filipino-Chinese principles. Our passion for leadershipdevelopment and cultural-rootedness enables us to create a positive social

impact in aspects that only Ateneo Celadon can.

Direction and Thrust for the School Year

    Organization Thrust for2014-2015

Ateneo Celadon aims to expand its reach and be of greater social significancethrough strategic externalization with the continued integration of Filipino-Chinese principles and traditions.

Last school year, Celadon focused on internal issues, which included revamping systems and

creating HR initiatives for member involvement. As such, this year we would like to build onthat, but focus more on an aspect that has plagued Celadon for year on year, which is the lack ofexternalization efforts. Celadon, as we know it, has been focused too much on itself that it hasbecome somewhat irrelevant to the greater community of Ateneans. It is not able to expandbecause it has not been reaching new markets or gaining new insights on what is happeningbeyond its walls. This is similar to what transpired in China back in the 1960s wherein they werepursuing isolationist policies.

To be able to expand and become “A Greater Celadon,” two things were important: namely,nation-building and externalization. We believe nation-building efforts are exceedingly importantso that we can become relevant and impactful to the Ateneo community. This is our way ofchanging age-old traditions and placing a modern, social twist to them in order to create apositive social impact in the Filipino-Chinese way. It is also our way on going back to ourfoundation, which is to create the nation-builders of tomorrow by using the Filipino-Chineseculture and heritage.

The second important factor in our thrust is externalization: specifically, externalization throughbuilding new partner organizations and companies in order to create grander projects with theincrease of support and resources. This externalization, however, should focus on two things: (1)business development and (2) social impact. By increasing partner organizations, we couldachieve more projects with the same amount of project managers. In addition, by increasingpartner companies, we could make our projects grander in scale to create a more significantimpact to members and nonmembers alike. Through externalization, as well, we are able to reachnew markets, thereby providing an avenue for our members to know more about the Celadon

    3

experience. Externalization also provides an avenue for nonmembers to know Celadon ingeneral, thereby piquing their interest in joining and being part of the Celadon community.

During the crafting of the thrust, we believed and continue to believe that Celadon is ready tocome out of its shell and regain its lost glory, making its way to becoming the best studentorganization in the Ateneo again.

    Organizational Chart

Ateneo Celadon accomplished its goals effectively for the A.Y. 2014-2015. It would not havebeen possible without the effective and efficient task management afforded by thedepartmentalized structure that the Executive Board has. Cultural Affairs, External Affairs,Financial Affairs, and Human Resources managed the projects under them well.

Communications and Publications delivered the promos and documentations with style.Corporate Relations threw in heavy support to obtain the marketing targets for the projects. Allsix departments achieved their function with the robust leadership from the President andExecutive Vice President.

Late last academic year, the organization underwent restructuring, especially in the ExecutiveBoard level. To bolster the strengths of the current structure, the Executive Board approved ofthe partition of the Communications and Publications department (CNP) into theCommunications department (COM) and the Publications department (PUB) respectively. Inorder to maintain the stability afforded by the current year’s structure, when a position for the

Vice President of Publications was opened, the Associate Vice President slots that were two

under the original CNP department were split between the two new ones. The overall result is anExecutive Board in the A.Y. 2015-2016 that is 19-men strong.

Key changes were as follows:1)  Division of the Communications and Publications (CNP) department into certain

departments into the Communications department (COM) and the Publicationsdepartment (PUB) respectively.

    2)  In replacement of the CNP VP and CNP AVP, introduction of four next ExecutiveBoard positions: Vice President for Communications, Associate Vice President forCommunications, Vice President for Publications, and Associate Vice President forPublications

The rationale behind this move involves the following: workload, leadership, and influence. The workload within the original department was heavy, involving the disparate disciplines withinpromotion (i.e. graphic design, photography, web development) and publication (i.e. journalism, creative writing, layouting). Expanding the organization’s operations is a must, especially with theincoming 30th  year anniversary of Ateneo Celadon. Furthermore, the leadership needs tounderstand the various disciplines within the department under their supervision; therefore, there is no better way to go forward but a partition.

With this set-up in mind, the COM department can focus more with the informationdissemination and the public relations activities that are inherent with it. More attention can be

paid to the alternate avenues for communication that have not seen as much growth, such as theCeladon Website, EDSA Board, e-mail blasts, and newsletters. The PUB department, on the

  • 8/18/2019 Ateneo Celadon YES Report 2014-2015

    5/45

    4

other hand, can focus on promoting the organization’s events indirectly through timely articleposts and on documenting the events.

The publication will also write much content that will represent the voice of the Celadoneansand will pique the interest of Ateneans. The materials made in the new PUB department will alsobe published in print, extending the reach of the organization, as a method of fulfilling itsprimary function of spreading the Filipino-Chinese culture. The result is a potentially influentialtwo-pronged approach to greater visibility that bolsters what Ateneo Celadon stands for.

The revised organizational chart is as follows:

    II. EVALUATION OF THE EFFORTS

    Organization Development

    Goal: Project Management

To improve existing systemsthrough better projectimplementation and earlierplanning.

    Status:

    Not Achieved 1 2 3 4 5 Achieved

    Success Indicators:

    1.

To be able submit all proposals of the projects included in the Activities List beforeRecruitment Week.

    2.   To be able to receive reports and/or presentations from the project managers about theirfinal ideas, preparations, and plans at least two (2) weeks before the actual project date.

    3.   To be able to deliver constructive post-project evaluations of all projects within two (2) weeks after the project date implementation to assist not only the managers of theupcoming projects but also the next set of Executive Board.

    Explanation Impact on Participants

Generally, the organization was able to meet

almost all the goals laid out for the year.

Project proposals for all pre-planned events were all submitted to the Office of Student Activities before Recruitment Week. We havebeen the earliest among the rest of theorganizations in submitting theserequirements.

The organization remained consistent inhaving project managers present and consultto its Executive Board their plans for theprojects they are handling within two (2)

weeks prior to the event itself. These areusually integrated into the Executive Board’s

weekly meetings; however, some had to bescheduled on different days so as toaccommodate more project presentations andconsultations.

Constructive post-project evaluations weredone for all major projects, as well as mostminor projects. Though usually theseevaluations were accomplished past two (2)

The accomplishment and submission of project

proposals before Recruitment Week ensuredthat the process and execution of the project would be at the optimal efficiency andconvenience. With projects being plannedbeforehand, additional improvements weremade possible and cramming will not be muchof an issue.

With project managers required to give apresentation on their plans to the ExecutiveBoard two (2) weeks before the projectexecution date, there was an assurance thatprojects were aligned with the goals and thrustof the organization. The comments andsuggestions given from each department’sperspective also helped the project managersfurther improve the project by ensuring that itcan be impactful both to the members ofCeladon and the Ateneo community.

By having a complete set of in-depthevaluations of not only the major projects but as

well as the minor projects of the organization, the incoming Executive Board and project

    the delay.

managers will be able to have a strong gauge oftheir projects, guiding them to head them to

each project’s optimum potential. Provided withthese evaluations, project managers will haveaccess to information that will surely allow themto improve the previous projects and improvethem by making each bigger and moreinnovative.

    Recommendations:

    1.  Consistent updates through a clearer monitoring system to track the progress of projects.2.  Continually enforce the usage of the standard project evaluation template and

submission of the evaluations to the respective Executive Board members.

    Goal: Financial Management

To support Celadon’s efforts inpursuing its vision by raisingadditional financial capital.

new fundraising events.3.  For all actual net profit of projects be greater than the estimated budget. Subsequently,

net losses should be less than the estimated losses of projects.

    Explanation Impact on Participants

This year has been great for Celadon’sfinancial and fundraising endeavors.

As of the most recent tally, the Office ofCorporate Relations of Celadon has garnereda total of PHP 156, 000 worth of cashsponsorships from various companies andorganizations. This is more than 90% morethan the goal of PHP 85,000 this year. Thereare still ongoing dealings with differentcompanies, and the possibility of getting moresponsors for our events are high. The successof these partnerships may be attributed to theutilization of a Yearlong and Semester-Long

(for both First and Second Semesters)Package.

Because of the inflows from new majorfundraising activities and sponsorships ofCeladon, its projects have been well-funded. In

addition to that, some projects have beenrevamped in order to make them self-sufficient.

The Corporate Relations Office has been verysuccessful and has set a new benchmark on thenumber of sponsors gathered by a singleorganization. The competence and dedication ofthe said office and its affiliates paved way to thissuccess. Because of this, projects gained moreattention from the Ateneo community and as

well as contributed to the success of these

projects. Projects were more impactful due tothe resources from the established partner

Aside from that, the Executive Office wasable to support the Corporate Relations

Department in closing PHP 198,000 worth ofcash sponsorships this year making the grandtotal PHP 354,000 worth of cash inflowsfrom partner companies. The goal wassurpassed by a score of 316%.

Net income from new fundraising events iscurrently at PHP 56,000.00. The target netincome for the year has been met. Newfundraising projects like the Mockingjay Part1 Movie Screening and Celadon Santa’s Attic

companies, which made the projects evengrander in scale.

Similarly, the continuous efforts of the Financedepartment to raise additional funds for theorganization have also been very successful.

Aside from the yearly fundraising projects likeShirt and Lanyard Selling and the upcomingRose Sale, which are highly internal and catersto the Ateneo community, the new fundraisingprojects focuses more on externalizing andtapping into the market outside of Ateneo. Thenew projects have also shown to be sustainable

for the coming years and will generate a steadyflow of income for the organization.

Sufficient financial resources from thesedepartments mean that projects will havesufficient funds in order to cover their expensesand make sure that projects will run smoothly.

    Recommendations:

    1.  Capitalize on the upcoming 30th year of Ateneo Celadon in order to draw the attention ofmore sponsors and new fundraising projects.

    2.

Continue offering yearlong and semester-long marketing packages to attract morecompanies.3.  Come up with more fundraising activities that will cater to a bigger market outside

     Ateneo.

    Goal: External Communication

    Explanation Impact on Participants

All the success indicators were met. This year, we have established the Celadon REACH

The Celadon REACH seven-part outreachprogram was able to impact several

Program, which is a 7 part outreach series. This is designed in line with our thrust and

core competency which is to contribute tonation building using Filipino-Chineseprinciples. Through the REACH Program, the organization aims to sustain severalpartner livelihoods and help them year onyear.

Celadon had 19 project tie-ups with differentorganizations this year. This is the mostnumber of partnerships Celadon had in its 29years of history. Most of these partnerships

centered on business development and socialimpact. Our external partnerships are with AFiCS, the Federation of Filipino-ChineseChamber of Commerce and Industry Inc(FFCCCII), Chinoy TV, Saint Jude Alumni

Association, Miss Chinatown Foundation,Manila Downtown YMCA Youth Club, andRotaract Club of Chinatown Manila. Internalpartnerships include Leong Center forChinese Studies, Ateneo MEcO, AFARM,

     Ateneo Assembly, Ateneo Speed, Ateneo

CoSA, ASEC, AJMA, MEA, Catalyst, LSOP,and AIESEC ADMU, Blue Consulting Groupamong others. This contributes to around 10internal and 9 external partnerships. Thereason behind the 19 partnerships was thegoal of increasing and extending the reach ofthe organization in order to cater moretowards our members and the Ateneocommunity.

Celadon had one alumni gathering for the

first semester last September 27, 2014 at theGreenhills Uno Seafood Restaurant. There were more than 40 participants in the event, which boasts by far the most number ofattendees in any alumni gathering of Celadon.

There will be another alumni gathering thiscoming February 28, 2015, and we areexpecting to have more than 50 participants.

communities such as Payatas, Lupang Arenda, and Corazon de Jesus among others. Around 80

of our members were able to participate in thedifferent programs. Celadon REACH wassuccessful in ingraining in them the value ofhelping others and creating shared valuethrough modern Filipino-Chinese practices, such as entrepreneurship. As of the writing ofthis report, the REACH Program was able toimpact more than 550 people outside the

Ateneo. This outreach series serves an avenuefor them to realize the slogan of Celadon, whichis nation building through culture.

The Alumni Gatherings helped the alumni andthe volunteers to interact and create a long-lasting relations with each other. This helpedthe alumni impart their knowledge to theyounger generations and also contribute to itsfinances through the solicitation of supportfrom them.

Our partnerships, which focused on (1)business development and (2) social impact,

gave our members additional avenues to realizetheir leadership potential through the modernFilipino-Chinese culture of entrepreneurship.

Through these partnerships, we were able toimmerse our members and nonmembers alikeon what it means to do nation building throughculture.

    Recommendations:

    1.  Maintain the momentum of having a lot of outreaches, but try to focus on key

communities so that the effects will be better and be more sustainable.2.

Be more aggressive in getting good partnerships outside Ateneo.

    3.  Continue to have at least two alumni gatherings for the year so that the currentCeladoneans can still have the opportunity to build relations with the alumni and also

create an avenue wherein the alumni can financially support the organization.

    Core Competencies

Goal: Emphasis on Nation Building throughSocial Change Imbued with Filipino-Chinese

     Traditions and Principles

To develop Celadonean leaders into becoming

catalysts of change in the greater Philippine societyintegrated with the different aspects of Filipino-Chinese traditions and principles.

    Success Indicators:

    1.   To have at least seventy-five (75) Celadon members in total attend all the outreach-related

    projects of the Ateneo Celadon.

    2.   To have at least two hundred (200) people attend each Financial Summit of Ateneo Celadon

for developing nationwide financial literacy in the greater Philippine community.

    3.

To be able to organize at least three (10) training modules throughout the year with at leasttwenty (20) participants each.

    Explanation Impact on Participants

Our first core competency is exhibited in thesenewly established projects namely the REACHProgram, the Business Summits, and the increase in

Training Modules we have this year.

For our REACH Program, 84 of our membersattended the series with the first two outreaches

having the most number of participants. Thedecline of participants over the rest of the outreachseries can be attributed to other major Celadonprojects getting some of the participants andacademic fatigue. However, this number is asig nificant increase from last year’s number ofapproximately 20 participants in total. This markeda 320% increase in member participation in oursocio-civic actions.

Instead of having the financial summit this year,

Celadon made the Taipan National Business

The REACH Program was able toprovide our members a perspective onhow it is to create value for othersthrough modern Filipino-Chinese culturesuch as entrepreneurship. By using whatthey learned from their classes, they wereable to apply it in our partner

communities, and as such, find a way tobe of social significance through the useof their inherent heritage.

This application of their knowledge iscomplemented by our several businesssummits and seminars. Events like the

Taipan Summit, NSEC, SCBYF,Marketing and Finance Seminars haveallowed our members and the outsidecommunity as a whole to develop their

skills in these fields. They are able to

Summit, the Social Change through Business YouthForum (SCBYF), and the National Social

Enterprise Congress (NSEC) to align it more to ourthrust which is nation building and externalization. All of these projects are collaboration and exhibit asocial significance. The Taipan Summit and theNational Social Enterprise Congress (NSEC) bothgarnered more than 200 participants eachnationwide while the other one garnered over 100participants.

Lastly, we were able to organize 13 trainingmodules for our members. Among which include

the Junior Manager Program, the LeadershipDevelopment Program, and the MarketingExecutives Program. The Junior Manager Programhad over 60 participants, which is a 36% increaseand the Leadership Development Program had 64participants, which is a 45% increase from last year.

harness these skills with an added socialmission, which is to create shared value

for the communities and marginalizedpeople. These events not only build ourmembers to be game changers oftomorrow, but also make us relevant tothe Ateneo community by showcasingmodern Filipino-Chinese culture that hasa positive social impact.

Lastly, the various training modulesCeladon held this year was aimed todevelop our members’ leadership potential

to back up their social mission. Throughthese trainings, Celadoneans greatlyimproved their confidence andcommunication skills, which are vital forthem to become leaders of theorganization, thereby being able tosupport the organization in its thrust.

    Recommendations:

    1.  Increase the number of outreaches so that more members are able to attend and

experience what it means to help through their Filipino-Chinese culture.

    2.

Further improve the quality of existing national conferences to reach out to more peopleand thus, be able to create a greater social impact.

    3.  Continue redefining on what it means to be “modern.” Modern Filipino-Chinese culture

is what it means to be relevant and to be able to cut across boundaries to create positive

    social impact.

Goal: Exposure and Involvement of ModernFilipino-Chinese Culture into the GreaterPhilippine Society

To promote a better understanding andappreciation of the relevance of modern Filipino-Chinese culture in the context of today’s Philippinesociety by providing external stakeholders avenues.

    Success Indicators:

    1.

To be able to organize at least a five (5) part series that will introduce and raise awarenesson the different Chinese cultural traditions and events to the greater Ateneo community.

    2.   To be able to gather at least fifty (50) Ateneans to participate in an Ateneo-wide Celadon

event that aims to share traditional Filipino-Chinese culture that is celebrated with a modern

    twist.

    3.   To be able to organize a school-wide event that promotes and encourages having good

values rooted in the traditional Chinese experience, for the benefit of the Filipino

    community.

Explanation Impact on ParticipantsOur second core competency is seen throughour increased efforts in making Filipino-Chinese Culture relevant and visible to peopleoutside the organization. First is the mediaexposure by revamping our website andnewsletter so that we can raise awareness ofthe various Filipino-Chinese traditions.Besides that, we are re-launching ourmagazine and renaming it Elements as anadded means of raising awareness of the

    organization’s advocacies in the Ateneocampus.

Besides media communication tools, we haveestablished several new projects, such as the

Taipan Summit, NSEC, and SCBYF as ameans to share Filipino-Chinese Tradition

with a modern twist. This complements ourexisting projects, such as the Mid-AutumnFestival and Spring Film Festival, which wemade bigger through an increase in budget in

order to create a bigger impact to both ourmembers and nonmembers. All of theseprojects contributed to more than 1,000nonmembers participating in our projects thisyear. This is a significant increase from lastyear’s figures.

Lastly, we had the Teachers’ Appreciation Week, which is an annual schoolwide eventthat encourages having good values directedtowards the faculty and staff of the LS

Community, which is in line with theConfucian teachings. This is also in

The impact of these projects is namely theincrease in relevance and the greaterunderstanding of the organization. It enabledthe Ateneo community and those outside

Ateneo to realize that Celadon is not just aboutcelebrating age-old traditions, but it is alsoabout transcending itself towards what ismodern and what is impactful. This is to showthat Celadon, through its projects, can alsomake a difference in society using the Filipino-

Chinese traditions, which are inherent in itsmembers and projects.

Because of the huge success and increased scaleof these projects, more people both inside andoutside Ateneo are now more aware of Celadonand its activities. More people are now aware onhow they can positively create an impact tosociety using the traditions and principles weadvocate.

These projects have shown that the Filipino-Chinese Culture is rooted on significant positivesocial values. Projects and initiatives this yearshow that Celadon has gone beyond what isnormal and what is stereotypical to create asocial change that will benefit our members andnon-members, and thus contribute to building a“Greater Philippine Society.”

III. BEST EFFORTS FOR THE SCHOOL YEAR

    Organization Development Effort

    Name of theEffort

     Taipan National Business Summit

    Description ofthe Effort

In partnership with Ateneo Junior Marketing Association, Ateneo Celadondeveloped the Taipan National Business Leaders Summit. It is a whole dayconference that gathered over 400 student leaders from high schools andcolleges from around the country in order to learn from the biggest andesteemed names in the Filipino-Chinese business community. The themefor this year was “Rising through Business Innovations, “ and the speakersdiscussed how they made it on top and how they contributed not only to

the growth of their companies, but also to that of the nation.

On its premier year, the Taipan National Business Leader Summit boastedof a highly diverse mix of business leaders in their respective fields. Thespeakers included the following: Kenneth Yang, the President and CEO ofGolden Arches Development Corp (McDonalds); Francis Kong, one ofthe top motivational speakers of the country; Johnlu Koa, Founder andCEO of The French Baker; Jonathan Gotianum, Director and Chairman ofFilinvest Development Corporation; and Ana Melissa Yao, the ManagingDirector of Richprime Global, Inc.

    Objectives

The goal of this project was to promote the values of excellence and

innovation through sustainable development. As opposed to the usualnotion of seeing the corporate  world’s practices as corrupt and immoral, the project was organized in the hopes of showing that those who work inthis particular field actually have many opportunities to contribute tosociety. The conference’s aim was to mold the student leaders of today intobecoming the business leaders and national builders of tomorrow that willhelp uplift the country through sound business practices and innovations.

    Results andEvaluation

The results of the project are very positive. After over 6 months ofpreparation, the project was executed well, as it was able to welcome over400 national participants. The 5 speakers were the top businessmen andbusinesswomen of their respective fields. The project’s reach was extensivedue to its utilization of the following media: print (Manila Bulletin andBusinessWorld), TV (ChinoyTV), radio (Magic 89.9), and social media. Theproject was also effective in member development, as it was able to givethe over 70 core members an opportunity to work on such a large-scalenational conference. Finally, the project was not only a great learningexperience for both the core team and for the participants, but it was alsoable to generate over PHP 100,000 in profit for both AJMA and Celadon, respectively.

    Core Competencies Effort

    Name of theEffort Mid-Autumn Festival

    Description ofthe Effort

The Mid-Autumn Festival is a Filipino-Chinese tradition that is celebratedevery year in the Philippines and around the world. The unique aspect ofthe Chinoy MAF is on how it has assimilated itself into the Philippinesetting. This year’s festival  was divided into two parts. The first being aChinatown set-up that was situated in the Zen Garden. The second was theCulminating Dice Game, which was held in the Leong Hall Roofdeck.

The Chinatown set-up showcased the Mid-Autumn tradition by setting-upbooths and activities that related to the mythological story of the festival

itself. The activities all aimed to increase knowledge, awareness, andinterest on what MAF is, and on how the Filipino-Chinese communitycelebrates it. The culminating celebration of the Dice Game provided themembers of the Ateneo community a chance to bond, eat a delicious buffetdinner, and win quality prizes from the game and raffle.

    Objectives

The project aims to provide interactive activities that will foster positiveand deeper awareness, understanding, and appreciation of Filipino-Chineseculture and way of life. Likewise, it also aims to form and promote acontemporary Chinoy culture that is more relevant to Filipino society. Andfinally, it aims to provide a venue wherein the entire Ateneo communitycan bond and have fun at the same time.

    Results and

    Evaluation

The results of the Mid-Autumn Festival this year are positive. During themorning event, people were effectively engaged in the different activitiesthat the booths provided. Since the activities in the booths were related tothe reason behind MAF, the participation of people was able to strike twobirds with one stone. At one end, the project was able to reach out to asmany people as possible. On the other, these people either learned more ordeepened their knowledge and or appreciation for Filipino-Chinese cultureand tradition. To add, this year’s event had a number of sponsors— bothcash and x-deal alike. MAF was able to maximize these sponsorships byusing x-deals as prizes and using cash as a means to fund the project itself.

A major improvement with this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival is the

considerable improvement in the culminating night. For one, the event’s250 tickets were quickly sold out before the event even culminated.Second, the prizes this year have greatly improved. These prizes includedLock & Lock containers, various brands of chips and drinks, bluetoothspeakers, and a grand prize of a brand new, top-of-the-line Xiaomi Mi3cellphone. Amidst the mountain of expenses, the project was able to earnmoney that helped fund the upcoming projects of Ateneo Celadon. Toconclude, this year’s MAF was able to touch the lives of various Ateneansby providing them a venue to bond, dine, and have fun both in the week-long and culminating event. Considering all these, Mid-Autumn Festival2014 was surely a successful event.

    Synergy Effort

Name of theEffort  Teacher’s Appreciation Week

    Description ofthe Effort

Teacher’s Appreciation Week is an annual activity that the Filipino-Chinesecommunity celebrates to commemorate the life of China’s greatest teacher,Confucius. In the case of Ateneo Celadon, TAW is an effort to showgratitude to the mentors, and educators who have guided their students intheir journey in the Loyola Schools. This year, TAW made a number ofchanges to the way of celebrating the occasion.

The token that was given to the teachers was a school specific (SOH,SOM, SOSE, SOSS) lanyard. The lanyard design focused more on the

school identity, rather than on the Celadon branding. In this light, TAWthis year wanted to give a token that was more genuine in showingappreciation. The special awards that this year’s TAW crafted leaned moretowards characteristics exhibited by certain characters in the movie Kung-fu Panda. In this light, Teacher’s Appreciation Week returned to its verycore of being an occasion celebrated with a culturally Chinese undertone.

    Objectives

The project aims to increase the awareness of the Ateneo communityregarding the life, virtues, and teachings of Confucius. Along with this, italso aims to provide students with an avenue to express their gratitudethrough votes and gifts. Finally, it aims to engage the Ateneo community toa festive occasion that is both culturally rooted, and socially relevant.

    Results andEvaluation

The results of Teacher’s Appreciation were quite positive. During thedistribution of tokens, Ateneo Celadon was able to prepare all of thetokens a few days before the actual distribution of gifts. In terms of theactual distribution, a manageable system was set-up to help facilitate amethod that helped with both inventory and accountability. Thedistribution of the lanyards was made possible through the efforts of thedifferent people Celadonean and non-Celadonean, who wanted to giveback to their professors. At the end of the week, all the professors of theLoyola Schools were given a token.

To add, special awards were also given to professors who were nominated

and voted for by the general student population. These awards did not justcome in the form of certificates; some professors also received giftcertificates (GCs), notebooks, and the like, from our different sponsors.

TAW basically used the sponsorships to either spend for the tokens, or touse the ex-deals as special tokens. Among the unique trademarks of thisyear's TAW is the concept of “Teachers of Ateneo,” which garneredmassive attention in social media. It is basically patterned to “Humans ofNew York” and teachers were interviewed on different aspects about theirlives. Quotations and pictures of professors receiving the token and awardsserved a function as an advertisement for the event itself.

The presence of Confucius was also given extra effort to this year. Celadonposted different quotes and trivia about Confucius regularly to inform

everyone the rationale behind the celebration, which is actually because ofConfucius’ birthday. To end, the most important token of gratitude that

the professors received were the school lanyards that the organization gaveto them. A number of professors actually enjoy wearing the lanyards on adaily basis and one can really see them around campus. Surely, Teachers

Appreciation Week was quite a success in its own right and had asignificant impact in the LS community as well.

    IV. CONCLUSION

At the end of its 29 th year, Celadon is now truly “A Greater Celadon” because of the thrust anddirection implemented by the leadership this year. We have achieved new and greater heightsbecause of several innovations and initiatives that were established this year. This year, we havestrengthened internal member development. Because of this, we have had a record breaking900+ members, which is the most in Celadon history. Adding to that, we have around 90+project elites, which is also the highest in history. We created the Executive Office as well, whichis directly under the President and Executive Vice President, to spearhead new initiativespertaining to the thrust of the organization.

For membership involvement, the Executive Office made the Celadon Choir, CeladonBasketball Team, and the Celadon Dance Troupe to give our members a role in the organization.

This is to supplement current HR initiatives to boost their morale and loyalty to theorganization. We also made our existing projects grander in scale, which is clearly seen in ourprojects such as the Mid- Autumn Festival and Teachers’ Appreciation Week to cater towards ourincreased membership. There is also a planned team/coalition for Sanggunian affairs, which hasbeen shelved due to lack of manpower.

Besides membership development, we were able to become relevant to the Ateneo and outsidecommunity as well. As said earlier, we established several groundbreaking social businesssummits (Taipan, NSEC, SCYBF) and the REACH Program to enable us to realize this goal andcreate a positive impact to the community. We also have supported initiatives such as AFARMand the like to showcase our intention in becoming relevant and of social significance.

Lastly, externalization was at its height in this term. A total of 19 inter-organizationalpartnerships, the most in Celadon history, were achieved this year. This has allowed us tosignificantly increase our reach and expose us to more people. This has also allowed us to followthrough on our thrust with most of the partnerships being socially relevant. Partnerships withthese organizations have allowed us to create the FedRun, which is the first run we have co-organized and brought in a total of 13,000 runners. Besides FedRun, it has allowed us to createhigh school chapters, which were never done before. Complementing this with our revampedonline tools and our re-launched magazine, we believe that we were able to share our advocacyeffectively and give our members various chances to develop themselves as well.

This year truly has been a year of strong growth and strong initiatives. Celadon is no longer asleeping dragon but a dragon ready to become of greater purpose. Hopefully, with thisexpansion of capabilities and resources, Celadon will be closer in achieving its vision in creatingthe luminaries and game changers of tomorrow through modern Filipino-Chinese principles andtraditions.

Amin, Chelsea T. (comments on the activity) — session 1The GD enabled us to cooperate with each other and at the same time communicate with people outside our group. It was a pretty good activity. :)

Lee, Abegail Joy Y. (comments on the activity) — session 1I liked the group activities, I get to interact with my fellow JuMPers. The game enabled everyone to be productivewith each person's role. The processing and synthesis in the end was also very worth it.

Ang, Princess C. (comments on the activity) — session 2I really liked Mr. Tan's talk. It made me look at my college life at a different angle. It was very inspiring

David, Rainier U. (comments on the activity) — session 2The activities provided a balance of both fun and professionalism, with the talk of Alvin Tan and the presentationof the team names. Alvin Tan's talk was inspirational and at the same time, provided a holistic perspective onwhat it is to be a leader. The team name introduction also provided a healthy dose of laughter and comic reliefneeded for a long day in school.

Montenegro, Regina Ysabel (comments on the activity) — session #3The department talks were very helpful as it gave us more insights about the structure and the activities held byCeladon. It's my first year as a part of the org and I wish to be very active, so I know I'll need it :))The Marketing Game was fun =)) It was kind of embarrassing, having to judge my co-JuMPer guys, but I thinkthat through the activity, we got a more in-depth understanding of what the companies would feel about the people

who call for sponsorships, and gained more understanding as well on what it takes to be a good sponsor caller :)

Lee, Audrey B. (comments on the activity) — session #3It was good to finally know more about the different departments of Celadon, plus it made me more interested insome projects :)

Young, Ezra Jedd, L. (comments on the activity) — session 4The systems talk was one of the things I joined JuMP for, so it was a good activity, and the budget bidding gamewas pretty exciting, so the choice of activities was good.

Chung, Aleena Lexine Y. (comments on the activity) — session 4

The activities helped us learn how to budget our money and how to formulate strategies to save more.

Tiu, Jennifer Ann L. (comments on the activity) — session 5the discussing with group-mates and mission impossible was fun :)) the consultations helped us learn too :)

Ang, Justin Clifford Chong (comments on the activity) — session 5The games was interestingly hard. I also liked the consultation period where we learned how things worked from aleader of those certain events.

Young, Ezra Jedd L. (comments on the activity) — session 6There's value in learning through experience, and that's why the amazing race really genuinely helped the JuMPers
