P.Berta,C.Kleiner,P.Marchand,E.Margaroli,S.Yener,atelierBA6_2018Beyond the center/periphery opposition, the City-Territory concept allows to read the dispersedcontemporary condition as a potential for the construction of a sustainable and innovative urbandimension,where thenotionof territorial recycling/reinvestmentreverses the idea thaturbanization isjustaprocessofwasteandconsidersit,instead,asa"stock"andareservoirofenergy.Intheframeofthe“Alpine-LemanCity-Territory“,avastinhabitedlandscapestretchingalongtheshoresof the Leman lake, from the plain of Chablais to the Arve Valley, the Atelier will focus on the "GrandGenève"metropolitanareaanditslandscape.Thislargetransboundarymetropolisisexperiencingtodayastrongdemographicgrowth,exertinganunprecedentedpressureon its soils, especially considering theroletheywillplayinthefuturefortheecosystemandfortheconstructionofanewformofcity.Here, particular topographic and hydrographic systems, equipment and infrastructural meshes,agriculturallandscapesintransformation,openspacesandheterogeneousresidentialtissueshavedrawnover time specific territorial structures, in some cases weak or discrete, that need today to be deeplyreinterpretedandre-imagined.Toreacttothechallengesposedbytheevolutionofa“natural”andproductivelandscape,inhabitedbyagrowing and increasingly diverse population and to question the idea and form of the contemporarywesternmetropolis,theAtelierproposes-throughtheproject-toconceivenewspacesfortheeverydaylife, based on the reinvention of traveling and living practices, on strategies aimed at opening new lifecyclesandatdensifyingandadaptingtheinhabitedlandscapetoclimatechange.
