3.2 Class & Structural Surveys (SPS)

We have a thorough knowledge of classification requirements and the structure of offshore oil and

gas facilities.

Classification societies such as ABS and DNV have for many years relied on external rope access

specialists to assist the attending surveyor during the class inspection of ships and offshore

structures. Our experience gained from working with various classification societies on many

different types of facilities allows us to plan and execute surveys that are completed safely, to a

high standard and with minimal disturbance to on-board operations.

We have been audited and certified by ABS and DNV GL as an external specialist and work closely

with their surveyors from the early stages of pre- survey planning, on site execution and final

analysis of inspection data.

Atec Verification - is also able to assist in rectifying outstanding class issues with our maintenance and repair capabilities that include structural steel and piping renewals.

4.3 Pressure Relief Valve & Pressure Gauge Testing

The safety valve shall be visually inspected for possible defects. If any defects/concerns, NDE shall

be performed according too applicable PRT. If heavy corrosion is observed, ultrasonic testing shall

be performed according to the applicable PRT.

The safety valve shall be installed in the test bench and its opening pressure checked. Based on the result of the first test of opening pressure, the schedule for testing or each safety

valve should be evaluated if the opening pressure is:

In excess of nominal +/- 1 bar for valves with pressure setting below 25 bar or in

excess of nominal +/- 5% for valves above 25 bar.

The safety valve shall be dismantled and inspected internally. The valve shall be adjusted to the

correct opening pressure and then tested for leakage (bubble test).

Leakage test: Fill up discharge side with water and observe the number of bubbles/minute at 3%

below opening pressure. (API-527).

After adjustment and/or repair the safety valve shall be sealed and marked with SFI number. Test

certificate shall be completed and filed. The safety valve shall be sealed with sealing wire and a

metal seal.

After certification of the valve in question, the master data for Certification and next Certification

shall be updated in the Preventative Maintenance System.

Our courses and customized training programs can significantly reduce COST and the potential for

catastrophic events, ensuring that everyone involved in Hazardous-Area Design, Installation, Maintenance or

Management has the required knowledge to ensure compliance and most importantly, SAFETY.

Eaton and ATEC have partnered to deliver CompEx training within Eaton’s Experience Center in

Houston, TX. Courses launch at the Experience Center in May.

COMPEX SCHEME • ExF – Foundation - Ex Foundation course is suited to

anyone involved in the hazardous-area industry. The training is designed to provide companies a method to raise hazardous-area awareness for their employees.

• Ex01–Ex04 –IEC Electrical/Instrumentation

Assessment -

The Ex01-Ex04 combines an underpinning knowledge

and practical assessment program, provided for

electrical Personnel who undertake the physical

installation and assembly of new ‘Ex’ equipment

and, who perform preventive maintenance and

inspections on previously installed equipment.

NEC 505/API•RP 14 FZ Ex01 – Ex04 – NEC Electrical/Instrumentation Assessment – The NEC505 Ex01-Ex04

combines an underpinning knowledge and practical assessment program, provided for electrical personnel who

undertake the physical installation and assembly of new ‘Ex’ equipment and, who perform preventive

maintenance and inspections on previously installed equipment. This is very similar to standard EX01-04 program

although additionally covers the NEC 505 Code of Practice for Zone 0, 1 & 2 locations.

NEC 500/API•RP 14 F (Pending Ex01 – Ex04) – NEC Electrical/Instrumentation Assessment - The NEC500

Ex01-Ex04 combines an underpinning knowledge and practical assessment program, provided for

electrical personnel who undertake the physical installation and assembly of new ‘Ex’ equipment and,

who perform preventive maintenance and inspections on previously installed equipment. This is very similar

locations.

Ex11– Mechanical - Ex11 meets the competency requirements for EN 13463 Parts 1, 5 & 6 for

operatives working with mechanical equipment. Since the introduction of ATEX (& DSEAR) users

must identify all possible ignition sources that could arise in hazardous areas, including non-

electrical (mechanical) items of equipment. The safety measures for non-electrical equipment used

in hazardous areas include not only the design of equipment, but also those aspects required for

safe selection, installation, maintenance, inspection and repair.

Ex12 – Design The Ex12 CompEx course is intended to give an in-depth awareness to the

candidate with regard to explosive atmospheres formed by gases, vapors, mists and combustible dusts.

It covers the application design and selection of electrical equipment, along with the requirements of IEC

60079-14: Electrical installations design, selection and erection, this includes but not limited to, the

selection of equipment, cabling and cable glands etc. Designed specifically for designers and applications

engineers.
