ATD Practice Test Instructions

1) Go to www.td.org/skilltracker

2) Click on Start Now or Return to Your Assessment

3) If asked to login at this time, login with your td.org credentials

4) The first time you access the SkillTracker, you will be asked to register and select a “track”.

If you are pursuing the CPLP certification, select Advanced Practitioner track. If you are

pursuing the APTD certification, choose the Training Specialist or Instructional Design track.

5) After you register and select a track, click save and select ATD Practice Tests from the top

menu.

6) If you are a returning user, select ATD Practice Tests from the home page of the SkillTracker.

7) When you are ready to try the practice test, choose Practice Test for CPLP if you are

pursuing the CPLP and Practice Test for APTD if you are pursuing the APTD. It is a timed test

that will present you with 30 questions in 30 minutes for the APTD and 50 questions in 50

minutes for the CPLP test. The questions will relate to all the areas of expertise that are tested

on the actual exams.

8) When you are done with the exam, click View under View Summary to see your results by

area of expertise. The report will show you the percentage of questions you answered

correctly in that area of expertise.

9) Do not be alarmed if you score poorly the first time that you take the exam! Most people do

not do well on it the beginning.

10) To download a report with your answers and the correct answer, click on the Excel or PDF

icon on the Practice Test List screen to download a report.

11) The report will provide details by area of expertise and will highlight the questions you did

not answer correctly.

12) Aim for scoring ~80% overall before you take the actual exam. You can take the practice

exam as many times as you like. However, after taking it several times, you will start to

recognize some of the questions.
