TECHNOTEX-2013
Now a days exhibition/seminar program has become a platform to showcase
various product/services and innovations to the potential users, academicians,
consultants etc. Technotex is one such exhibition/seminar program organized
every year by FICCI.
Technotex-2013 was exhibition cum conference on technical textiles held from 17 th
to 19th Jan’13 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. It was organized by FICCI in association
with Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India. Program was inaugurated by Honorable
Minister for Commerce & Industry and Textiles Shri Anand Sharma. In total 90
exhibitors participated during the program.
The main aim of TECHNOTEX-2013 were to:
Understand and showcase the latest technological developments in
technical textiles
Project the status, facilities and services on R & D and quality control
available on technical textiles
Showcase the latest products, machinery, equipments &
developments in the industry
Make investors understand the needs of institutional buyers
Deliberate on measures required to bridge the raw material gap
Encourage domestic industry to explore the area of technical textiles
Increase awareness about applications of technical textiles amongst
consumers and user industry.
Different type of technical textile (like Agrotextiles, Protective textile, Geotextiles
and Medical textile etc.) manufacturers, traders, trading service providers and
testing service providers had exhibited their products and services. Govt. of
Karnataka, Ministry of Textiles appointed COE’s namely SITRA(COE-Meditech),
BTRA(COE-Geotech), NITRA (COE-Protech) ATIRA(COE-Composite), DKTE(COE-
Nonwovens), WRA(COE-Sportech) had also participated in the program.

SASMIRA’S PARTICIPATION
SASMIRA is a Centre of Excellence for Agrotech (COE-Agrotech) designated by
Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India. It is establishing a one stop solution to all, related
to Agrotextiles like farmers, industrialist, academicians etc. It has made up a
mission of creating awareness among the farmers about the Agrotextile products
and help them in its uses, so that productivity of agricultural produce can be
increased and use of scarce natural resources like water, land etc can be optimized.
SASMIRA has established state of the art Testing Laboratory, Agrotextile
Information & Training Center, Demonstration plant for the development of various
Agrotextile products like shade-nets, mulch fabrics- woven as well as non-woven
etc.
SASMIRA always strives to get opportunities to participate in exhibitions/seminar/
Workshop programs where in there is direct interaction with farmers, industrialists
and academicians etc. In the same line SASMIRA participated as a Centre of
Excellence for Agrotech at Technotex-2013 Exhibition (17th-19th Jan 2013). Variety
of Agrotextile samples like shade-nets, bird protection nets, mulch fabrics etc. were
displayed during the program. A brief write-up on different Agrotextile products its
uses, benefits and list of manufacturers was distributed to the visitors. Shade-net is
one of most important Agrotextile which has wide array of applications. A short
video film based on the applications of Agrotextiles for the farmers was shown to
the visitors, apart from Agrotextiles, Information on other area of activities like
R&D, Testing Services, Instrumentation & various Educational Programmes were
also displayed & distributed during the program. Approximately 150 visitors-
students, academicians, industrialists and potential entrepreneurs visited the
SASMIRA stall (Stall No: 98.1). Few Photographs of the program is present below in
Annexure-I. List of few specific visitors is annexed in Annexure –II. Visitors queries
were in the following categories.

Overall it was quite enriching experience for SASMIRA team and we hope for good
future opportunities to explore new avenues in the field of Agrotextiles and other
areas of Textiles.
