MILESTONES Kamla Nehru Institute of technology Sultanpur was established by Late Babu K.N.gy p ySingh (the then Dy. Irrigation Minister, Govt. of India) in 1976 as self financingEngineering Institute starting three B. Tech. courses, namely, Civil, Electrical andMechanical Engineering with a total intake of 50. It was affiliated to Avadh University,FaizabadFaizabad.

Govt. of Uttar Pradesh took over administrative and financial control of the institutein 1979.

The Institute was registered as an Autonomous Society in 1983. The intake of eachcourse was raised to 30 and a new branch of Electronics Engineering with an intake of30 was introduced.

B. Tech. Course in Computer Science & Engineering with an intake of 20 wasintroduced in 1984.

The Institute was granted Academic Autonomy by his Excellency Governor of U.P.under Avadh University, Faizabad, in 1985.

In the same year, M. Tech. (part time) courses in Civil, Electrical and MechanicalEngineering each with an intake of 10 were introduced for providing opportunity to

serving Engineers of the region to improve their qualification.

Institute started functioning as an academically autonomous Institute in 1986g y

and Semester system in place of annual system was introduced.

Master of Computer Application (MCA) course was introduced with an intake of 30in year 1988in year 1988.

M. Tech. (part time) course in Electronics Engineering was introduced with an intakeof 10 in 1995.

The intake of Computer Science & Engineering was raised to 30 in 1998.

Intakes of Electronics Engineering, Computer Sc. & Engg. And MCA were raised to60 each in 2000.

In the same year B. Tech course in Information Technology was introduced with anintake of 40.

The Institute was affiliated to newly created U.P. Technical University Lucknow inThe Institute was affiliated to newly created U.P. Technical University Lucknow, inyear 2000.


•In year 2003 four UG courses namely Civil Engg Electrical Engg•In year 2003, four UG courses, namely Civil Engg., Electrical Engg.,Electronics Engg., and Mechanical Engg. were accredited by NBA for threeyears.

•In year 2005, M.Tech in Electrical Engg. (Power Electronics& Drives) wasIn year 2005, M.Tech in Electrical Engg. (Power Electronics& Drives) wasstarted.

• In year 2007, B.Tech. in Computer Sc.& Engg. was accredited by NBA forthree years.three years.

•In year 2008, four UG courses, namely Civil Eng., Electrical Eng.,Electronics Eng., and Mechanical Eng. were again accredited by NBA forthree years.y

•In year 2008, Intakes of B.Tech. Civil Engg., Electrical Engg. andMechanical Engg. were increased to 60 each.
