1 GENERAL

1.1 Purpose of the Document RDE Action Speed Tactical Trainers (ASTTs) are proven training devices that are in service with navies around the world. These ASTTs have been developed using modern software tools and are hosted on Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) PC computers. The user-friendly interface is a Windows environment that operates intuitively resulting in effective learning curves for both students and training staff. The primary training focus of the ASTT is delivery of knowledge and skill required for tactical decision making under conditions of uncertainty and time pressure. Specifically the ASTT can be used to teach the following courses: • Commanding Officer / Executive Officer Courses

• Principal Warfare Officer Courses

• Junior Officer Maritime Warfare Tactics

• Ship Command Team Refresher Training

• Tactical Analysis

The ASTT is also delivered wit a user friendly development suite that enables trainer staff to describe the characteristic data for platforms, weapons, sensors and scenarios. No programming skills are required to develop platform data. With the development suite, trainer staff can confidently develop scenarios that comprise the following warfare areas: • Anti-Surface Warfare (AsuW)

• Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW)

• Anti-Air Warfare (AAW)

• Electronic Warfare (EW)

• Submarine Warfare (SW)

• Mine Warfare (MW)

• Amphibious and Littoral Warfare

• Maritime and Land Strike

• Multi-Threat Warfare

• Fleet Activity Schedule

• Naval Control of Shipping

• Joint Exercises

• Combined Exercises

4 TECHNICAL DATA

4.1 Electrical Requirements

4.1.1 Electrical Installation Electrical Installation: Building The power supply for the building (lighting, air-condition, power outlets) complies with the national standard regulations. Enough power outlets are provided for room cleaning and electrical office equipment on desks etc.

Electrical Installation: Simulation System

The simulator requires electrical power as follows

− - 230 V average, voltage tolerance ±10%

− - 50 Hz, frequency tolerance ±5% To prevent loss of data and damages to the computer systems an uninterrupted power supply (UPS) is provided. In the event of power interruption, an optical or audible alarm shall be given in the game controller room. It is strongly recommended to back-up all of the computer systems of the Action Speed Tactical Trainer to eliminate breakdowns due to short power interruption peaks. RHEINMETALL DEFENCE ELECTRONICS shall not be responsible for failures / damages to the simulator system and data as a result of power failures.

4.2 Environmental Requirements

4.2.1 Building and Floor The floor is of suitable design for use in electronic data processing rooms and is antistatic in nature. In order to prevent ingress of dust, water and insects, there are no holes leading outside from the building or the simulator rooms

4.2.2 Air-Condition and Ventilation The building is supplied with conditioned and fresh air for all rooms where simulator equipment is located. The air-condition units control the temperature and relative humidity to provide optimum dust-free working conditions in all rooms at any time: • Temperature 18°C to 28°C

• Temperature gradient < 4°C / h

• Relative humidity 30 % to 70 %, non condensating The air-condition circuits supply a continuous intake of fresh air. The air-conditioning units are equipped with dust-filters. For the construction of all air ducts abrasion-free materials have been used. The capacity of installed air condition units has been calculated according specified requirements.

Caution: The simulator equipment shall not be operated when the environmental conditions exceed the a.m. limits.

The air conditioning unit is designed in such a way as to ensure that no liquid drops into the simulator-equipped rooms.

4.2.3 Soundproofing Requirements Soundproofing has been provided in accordance with the national regulations. Walls, doors and the ceilings have been designed to ensure undisturbed training without any obtrusive noise from outside (e.g. heavy rain, traffic noise etc.). All doors are soundproofed with a mean soundproofing factor of at least 35 dB (A).
