This is the house of Sex. Well, what you might call "biological energy"(just a metaphor, folks; don’t take it literally). Sex is just one possible outlet. This house shows one’s sexual tastes. The fifth house is romance. The eighth house is more physical and basic. House eight also shows the effect of social rules ( the rules of the society or social group you belong to) on you as well as the effect you can have on the values of those around you. Now it is a common knowledge that 7th and 8th house deal with matters of sex. The 8th house specifically deals with sex-organs. By looking at the 8th house, you may have an idea regarding the condition of sex of a person. I will now give some important factors relating to sex organs.

Personally I am of opinion that importance in many cases is only psychological, amenable to proper treatment. While we are discussing sex here individuals.

Sexual behaviour – Depends upon the nature of 7th house and the planets occupying same.

1. If the 7th house is occupied by Mars, or is aspected by Mars, the person will be important for the act and often he goes to his spouse in an angry mood.

2. If the 7th house is occupied by Jupiter or if aspected by the same planet, the person will engage himself in ardent love.

3. If the 7th house is occupied by Saturn or if aspected by Saturn, the person will have a mean out look on sex union, and very often behaves like an animal in sex act.

4. If the 7th house be occupied by Rahu or be aspected by same planet, the person will be shy in sex act and conducts as if he is stealing some thing.

5. If the 7th house be occupied by Kethu, or be aspected by Kethu, the native will be hypersensitive, and very often suffers from premature ejaculation.

6. If the 7th house be occupied by Venus or be aspected by Venus, the person takes great delight in sex act.

In the horoscopes of women, the Moon gives the following results, when occupying different sign:

Aries: The lady does not tolerate other points of views. She is domineering and self-willed. She may become a house-tyrant. She is impulsive and sometimes hot-headed.

Taurus:The woman is firm, resolute, somewhat sensual, confident and persevering. She is industrious and generally calm. There is a desire for possession and worldly joys and pleasures. She is tolerant, affectionate and may become stubborn and obstinate if the Moon is afflicted.

Gemini:The lady has a restless mind, with a desire for change. There is a craving for diversion. The tendency to nag, comparing the husband with other men will be pronounced. She has the capacity for adaptability also. Intellectual inclination, capacity to love and be loved and quick emotional upsets are the other characteristics of this sign.

Cancer:This is generally an ideal place for the Moon provided the constellation is either Punarvasu or Pushyami. The lady loves her home. She is receptive and responsive. She lacks confidence and allows herself to be influenced by more dominant people. Married life will be affected by separation, illness, ill-will and even infidelity if the affliction is severe.

Leo:She will have a strong will, dignity and confidence. The emotional life is strong but there is danger of over-bearing. She may be inclined to indulge in show and luxury but she can be an understanding wife though temperamentally incompatible with the husband.

Virgo: She has a meticulous mind, a propensity to be critical, a good sense of reality, deft in what she does, practical though often emotional. She has the capacity for discussion, the mental faculties being well developed.

Libra:Generally anxious to please the husband and work for harmonious relations with him, but her home-life cannot be happy due to husband’s domineering nature. She is discreet in her actions, fair minded, amiable, likes music and fine arts, and has a propensity for community life.

Scorpio:The lady is generally attractive to the opposite sex. She is prone to have miscarriages. Sexual passions are strong and energies are dissipated soon.

Sagittarius:The lady is sincere, sincere, frank, kind-hearted and noble. There is a lively disposition and the husband can be moulded by her sheer personality. She is independent and has a quest for knowledge. The mind is restless and somewhat impulsive. She is disappointed in her private life due to her own impetuosity and haste.

Capricorn:She is a serious thinker and sober in action. There is attachment though the emotions are not quite consistent. She is practical, cold, and lacks tender regards, and is a matter-of-fact wife.

Aquarius:She is tolerant, emotional, restless, practical, benevolent and free from bitterness. She is broad-minded, big-hearted, independent, self-willed, and is guided by her own inner sentiments.

She is a task-master and sometimes hard to understand. She is deeply attached to the husband and the family, but married life is often crossed by tension.

Pisces: She is sensitive, but receptive and active; she is not able to form independent judgments. Somewhat dreamy, she likes to be in the background. She is sentimental and lacks self-confidence.

In the above delineations, if the influences are disturbed by the general structure of the horoscope and by other influences operating on the Moon, the characteristics have to be modified.

A woman inclined to romance may go astray if there is a combined influence of Rahu, Mars and Venus. She may confine her romance to her own husband if the influences of Jupiter are dominant. One’s religiousness may descend to trivial rituals if Saturn’s influence is dominant.

We do not propose to deal with the question of marriage adaptability in this article. But we should like to say a few words about certain superstitions current in about so-called Kuja dosha, etc.

There is a belief current amongst the public that boys and girls born in certain constellations cause the death of certain relatives. For instance a girl born in Visakha is said to bring about the destruction of her husband’s younger brother, so that parents generally try to find out a bridegroom who does not have a younger brother. Even when there are other merits in the horoscope, it is rejected on the simple ground that the girl is born in Visakha. This is entirely due to ignorance of the real astrological factors governing such considerations. Only certain Padas or quarters should be held inauspicious and not the entire constellation. Thus, in regard to Visakha, only the last quarter is evil and not the first three. Therefore, a girl born in the first three-quarters of Visakha should never be considered to bring misfortune to her husband’s younger brother. Similarly, the boy or girl born in the last quarter of Moola is to be rejected as it is said to cause the death of the father-in-law. The last three-quarters of Moola are highly beneficial. A girl born in Jyeshta is said to cause evil to her husband’s elder brother. Almost all authors agree that (certain parts of) Visakha, Aslesha, Moola and Jyeshta are destructive constellations-Aslesha (first quarter) for mother; Visakha (last quarter) for husband’s younger brother; Jyeshta (first quarter) for girl’s husband’s elder brother; and Moola (first quarter) for father-in-law.

Rahu and Ketu

Astronomy:

Rahu and Ketu have been considered as Grahas in Vedic astrology. They have no physical identity but only mathematically calculated sensitive points having immense influence on the natives of earth.

Moon in its orbit, on a northerly course from South to North, crosses the ecliptic (the apparent path of Sun). This point of intersection is known as Rahu or Dragons head. 180 degrees away from this point, Moon on its southerly course crosses the ecliptic. This point is called the dragon's tail or Ketu.

Rahu and Ketu are unique to our system or astrology. Why so much stress on the point of intersection of the ecliptic is given has to be understood. While sun is the body and Moon is the mind the intersection is bound to give immense effect.

Rahu and Ketu are not stationary in space but have a mean motion of about 19 degrees and 30 minutes in a year. It means it takes about 18 years and 6 months to make a revolution around the Earth. This motion is retrograde. There is a concept of Mean Rahu and True Rahu. In Hindu astrology we take the true position of Rahu and Ketu.

Mythology:

This story relates to the great churning of the ocean by the Devas and the Asuras to take out Amrita. Lord Vishnu with the intention of preserving good made it a point that the Amrita should not go to the Asuras. To ensure this he took the form of Mohini. Mohini so maneuvered the sitting arrangement that she got to the Devtas first. The Asura to understand this trick was Swarbhanu. He took the form of Devas and positioned himself in between Sun and Moon. When his term came he also received Amrita from the disguised Lord Vishnu. Before Swarbhanu could drink the Amrita Sun and Moon identified it. Lord Vishnu severed off his head with his Sudarshan Chakra. However, some drops of Amrita had gone down hence both the head and body became immortal. The head represents Rahu and Tail is Ketu.

The severed head was taken by Simihika the mother of Asura Swarbhanu and nursed patiently. The head over a period of time got the body of Serpent and he was named Rahu. A Brahmin named Mini took the body. He brought up this body as his own son. To this body Lord Vishnu granted a serpents head. This became Ketu who in the due course of time became a saintly and revered seer.

Rahu and Ketu have not forgiven Sun and Moon for exposing them and they cause Eclipse.

Astrological Significance:

Rahu:

Rahu is the significator of the following as per Uttara Kalamrita.

a) Faulty Logic b) Harsh speech c) Outcaste d) an irreligious person e) going to a foreign country f) Unclean g) Bones h) abdominal ulcers i) Falsehood j) South western direction k) serpents l) Old age m) Maternal grand father n) Worship of Vana Durga o) Writing Urdu or Persian (Because these two languages start from right hand side, written in reversed manner, like Rahu and Ketu's movement in Zodiac, which is retrograde or Apsavya move. p) Breathing q) Acute duodenal pain.

It is observed that a strong Rahu is good for the above mentioned significations and weak Rahu shows just the opposite.

Ketu:

Ketu is the significator of following as per Uttara Kalamrita

a) Worship of Chandi, Ganesh and others b) Medical practitioner c) Vultures d) Final emancipation e) Consumption f) Painful fevers g) Bath in Gangesh h) Great penance i) Wind complaints j) Mantra Shastra k) Instability of mind l) Diseases of the stomach and eye m) Vedanta n) Grandfather o) Small pox or boils p) A servant of Shiva q) Association with foreigner or Shudras.

It is observed that a strong Ketu generally gives good result and a malefic Ketu creates lots of hindrances in life.

Other Astrological Considerations:

Rahu:

Rahu is in own house in Kanya Rashi. It is exalted when placed in Vrishabha Rashi while it is debilitated when placed in Vrischik Rashi. However, there are divergent views on this. Some

authorities take the Exaltation and Debilitation points as Mithuna and Dhanu respectively. It is said that Rahu gives Yogkaraka result if placed in Cancer Karkata Rashi. However, it has to be noted that being a Chhaya Grah it gives results based on the planetary influences. It is generally observed that with a benefic or in benefic influence it gives very good result. It is generally considered as a good planet for worldly comforts. However, there is lots of Maya attached with Rahu. In modern times Rahu represents Computers, Internet and Mass Media.

Rahu is friendly to Jupiter, Venus and Saturn. It considers Sun and Moon as its enemy and towards Mercury it is Neutral.

Ketu:

Ketu is exalted when it is placed in Scorpio Vrischik rashi and debilitated when placed in the Vrishabha Rashi. However, some authorities have given the Exaltation and Debilitation point as Dhanu and Mithuna respectively. It has to be said that Ketu is more towards spiritual side and is the Karaka for final emancipation whereas Rahu is more towards worldly pleasures. Again it has to be said that being a Chhaya Graha gives results according to associations.

However, in spite of having number of ancient texts extensively dealing with various signs of exaltation and debilitation of Rahu and Ketu there exists significant amount of controversy over the same.

Ketu is friendly to Mars, Venus and Saturn. It considers Sun and Moon as his enemies and towards Mercury and Jupiter it is Neutral.

Rahu and Ketu are considered papa ( malefic) yet pending their positions this is debatable; Take ketu as Moksha karaka as a key example for the sadhu , and rahu as an example for one that wishes to acquire material wealth in this life, then these nodes compliment the desires of the native for these things - Moksha and /or accumulation of possessions,

the one can see these nodes as shubha or benefic/auspicious.

So rasi's that are shirshodaya ( signs that rise head first) are considered benefic; Signs that come tail first or pristhodaya, are considered malefic - Pisces, the natural 12th house, is both pristhodaya & shirshodaya, go figure?

Rahu is the karaka for desires and compulsion, hence why we return to this earth; Rahu is karaka for incomplete karma to manifest again. My Jyotish guru suggests the Rahu too is one of mischief.

From my studies, Rahu Co-lords Kumba or Aquarius; Ketu co-lords Scorpio or Vrishika.

Rahu enjoys being in Taurus and Ketu enjoys Scorpio. Perhaps when you mention Rahu owns Kanya, you may have meant Kumbha? Kanya is a Moolatrikona location for Rahu.

Ketu's 'official duty' i.e. Moksha karaka and upasana is found in the Moksha houses, that of Scorpio, the natural 8th house, and the 12th house, Pisces; hence Ketu's Moolatrikona is considered Pisces, as recognized by Jaimini.

Some think also that Rahi is exalted in Gemini,and Ketu in Sagittarius. I can see this logic.

On Aspects or Dristi

Ketu is for moksha... with no head, there is no ego and the elimination of desires. Ketu also does not give any graha dristi - that is, it does not aspect or give a glance to another sign by itself ( only via Rasi Dristi) because it is desire-less.

Rahu has desires and hence has dristi and special Argula's assigned to it.

SATURN IN THE TWELVE HOUSES

Saturn's place in the chart highlights the area in which you are likely to shoulder heavy responsibilities and encounter obstacles. Saturn is the planet of restrictions and limitations, and its position marks the spot where difficult challenges will be met. This is the house in which your management abilities will be tested.

First House

Saturn is positioned in your first house, so it too becomes an important element of your personality. This placement suggests a conservative slant in your personality. You project a certain stiffness, seriousness, and determination reflected in your presentation of yourself to the world. You can become somewhat of a law unto oneself, trying to dominate others with whom you come in contact. Your disposition is serious and resolute making it hard for you ever to relax and have a good time. You are highly self-disciplined, but prone to depression at times. You have to deal with a very sharp

conflict in your nature imposed by Saturn, as your demeanor can be a cover up for a shyness or an inferiority complex. Your personality is more restricted than may have been suggested by the Rising sign or by the Sun and Moon placements. This planet adds much stability to your nature, a serious side, if you will. Second House

Saturn positioned in the second house of financial and material affairs denotes a good deal of ambition and hard work associated with accumulating material security. You are shrewd in business and always get your money's worth. The urge to conserve is accented, and you are very practical about saving for that rainy day. Some with this placement are down right miserly. Although financial security is a difficult goal to achieve, and it is likely to meet with many delays and obstacles.

Third House

Saturn positioned in the third house of mental processes and communication denotes mental discipline and practicality. Yet it often produces feeling of inadequacy and mental depression. Ideas are practical, and judged based on their usefulness and substance. Speech is deliberate and usually well considered. You are naturally cautious in legal matters and the signing of contractual documents. You may have experienced difficulties or delays in obtaining your education, and your early years of learning and life may have been particularly difficult. You tell the truth and have a firm sense of right and wrong.

Fourth House

Saturn positioned in the fourth house relates to the base of operation; the home environment. This placement denotes heavy responsibilities incurred though family affairs and the home. In this

environment, you may have the sole task of disciplinarian or supporting factor. You have an ingrained dislike for change, perhaps prompted by a real fear of the unknown and the untested. You have a strong concern for your security, and you take conservative actions to insure that you are provided for later on. You cling to the past and to your roots. Yet you will probably be happier away from your place of birth.

Fifth House

Saturn positioned in the fifth house is associated with the romantic nature, creativeness and offspring. This placement denotes that you are person who finds it hard to just relax and enjoy yourself. Romances are serious business for you, but they can produce more pain than pleasure. Your romantic partners are likely to be older than you. Obligation is attached to your romances.
