We seek to provide an efficient and effective grant review process that enables organizations to request commercial support for quality independent education which addresses the unmet educational needs of healthcare professionals and aligns with areas of interest within AstraZeneca.

AstraZeneca Independent Education Grants SupportThe independent medical education programs that we support include educational activities certified for CME/CE for physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, as well as activities without continuing education credit.

We accept applications from a wide range of healthcare organizations, associations, academic institutions, hospitals, and medical education companies.

Areas of Educational InterestWhen evaluating grant applications for educational programs, the AstraZeneca Independent Education Grants Team looks for programs that:

• Meet an educational need by providing information designed to assist healthcare professionals in their efforts to enhance patient care

• Further the understanding of emerging therapies based on a documented unmet need

• Incorporate evidence-based medicine in the program objectives and methodology

• Assist healthcare professionals in carrying out diagnosis and treatment strategies more effectively and efficiently

• Support the efforts of healthcare professionals to broaden patient knowledge and awareness of disease states and treatment options

• Address performance and quality improvement

“Go/No-Go” with an Email to RAPIDRAPID (Rapid Assessment of Potential Interest & Direction) is designed to indicate whether or not you should submit a grant application.

Send an email to grants@astrazeneca.com with general information about your proposed topic, including the budget required. RAPID feedback is based on whether or not funding is available for your proposed program.

Applications will be evaluated in accordance with all established guidelines and policies. Due to limited funds and a high volume of grant requests, we cannot guarantee that your application will be accepted.

Guide to Completing your Online Grant ApplicationTo access our online grant application, visit www.astrazenecagrants.com. There you will find all you need to submit an application. Of the following categories, select the option which best describes your application and complete the necessary steps:

• General (US) • Regularly scheduled series

• Fellowships • Global

Each section contains a detailed checklist of information required to complete an application, along with downloadable documents to help facilitate the process, including:

• Formal letter of request for funding • Program brochure or agenda/list of topics

• Proposal (template Word document) • Budget schedule (template Excel file)

You will also find answers to frequently asked questions and the option to track the status of your grant application as it moves through the review process.

We will only consider completed applications. On submitting your application, you will receive an email confirmation and notification of any additional information required.

The AstraZeneca Independent Education Grants Review Team• We review your application against rigorous criteria that reflect regulatory

requirements and standards adopted by accreditation bodies

• We assess whether or not your proposal aligns with areas of interest of AstraZeneca

• We evaluate whether or not your proposal meets overall review criteria, including:

- Clearly defined educational needs assessment

- Specific educational objectives that address the identified need with a topic that is consistent with AstraZeneca legal, compliance, and regulatory policies

- Clearly defined evaluation and outcome metrics

Decision and Notification • We must receive your submission at least 45 days in advance of your

proposed program

• The submission must contain a complete application with all relevant attachments

•An AstraZeneca team member will notify you regarding the decision to fund or not fund your grant request. Please note that the length of review process depends upon the complexity of the proposal. Should the review of your application take more than 4–5 weeks, a member of the AstraZeneca Independent Education Grants Team will notify you that this is the case

• If we fund your grant request, you will receive a Letter of Agreement (LOA), which will serve as the legal document governing our commercial support of your independent education program

Assess the areas of educational interest on the website

Identify the appropriate Call for Grants Application (CGA) ID number This must be included at the beginning of the title for your program

You will be notified regarding the decision of the grant application

Complete the application along with the required and suggested documents

Complete the RAPID (pre-assessment) for either US or Global grants

If successful, select one of the following categories which best describes your application:
