PROPELLER BEAD ® FILTERS The Propeller Bead® Filter is ulized at some of the largest indoor recirculang fish producon facilies and most presgious zoos and aquariums around the world. This filter is perfect for lightly loaded aquarium systems, especially where biofiltraon needs are low and the required flow rate is high (system turnover of roughly 30 minutes). Flow rates as high as 1200 gpm can be used with this unit. This unit is an excellent choice for backwash water reclamaon from display aquaria sand filters; or if coupled with a fine solids removal device, for display aquaria with underwater viewing requiring polished water for clarity. The Propeller Bead® Filter uses a motor driven, embedded propeller for intermient washing of the media to remove captured solids and media biofloc. The sludge is removed in concentrated form, greatly reducing the water loss associated with the backwashing process. Water loss is as low as 10% compared to high-rate fluidized sand filters. For applications using a Propeller Bead® �lter for primary solids capture for aquatic life support systems, we recommend the use of a moving bed bioreactors with Curler X-1 Media for biological �ltration. In applications where the bead �lter will only be used as a clari�er, use the maximum daily feed input or choose a �lter with a compatible �ow rate for the desired system turnover.
