The main objective is to provide a solid foundation in General Chemistry for the Engineering students in conformity with the guide line for chemistry suggested by Council of Engineers (C.O.E.). Special emphasis on fundamental concepts, principles and chemical reactions so that student will acquire appropriate knowledge of chemistry to pursue engineering courses. 2. This course will also help students to develop critical thinking skills and formulating strategies for solving problems in chemistry. Method of Teaching : Lecture Time Allocation : Lecture 3 hrs./week. Total 45 hrs. Marks Allocation : Quizzes 10% Workshops & Mini Projects 15% Mid – term Exam. 25% Final Exam. 50 % Total 100 % Attendance : Punctuality is required. Course Title : BG 1108 General Chemistry

Lecturer : A. Kyi Kyi Tin

Special emphasis on fundamental concepts, principles and chemical reactions so that student will acquire appropriate knowledge of chemistry to pursue engineering courses.

Successful completion of both examinations is mandatory requirement for the evaluation of a student’s grade.

Late Appearance at the Examination :In accordance with the university announcement, effective from June 2002, students who appear 10 minutes late at the examination room are not permitted to sit for the examination.

Calculator : The scientific calculators which are officially permitted to use in quizzes and examinations are CASIO fx-61F and / or SHARP EL 556L and / or SHARP EL 506R and/or SHARP EL 506V and/or TEXAS INSTRUMENT TI – 36X.
