10. SUB-COMMITTEE ACTIVITIES • SRO Committee President updated the concept of SRO in MC meeting and at various forums and advised how the DG Shipping has recommended that this concept be introduced in the forthcoming amendments in MMTG Act.

It was elaborated that Director General Shipping is mooting that the industry can have multiple SROs and all SROs should put up standard Trading conditions on their website and these SROs can have a GRF within them for their respective members.

Taxation (Direct & Indirect) - AMTOI has appointed M/s BMR Advisors to help prepare, submit and pursue representation on Service Tax issues with various Govt Bodies and also explain AMTOI position on the matter at various public forums through presentation and distribution of reference Material

• Digital Platform During the past year there has been interesting and exciting developments in the Digital Platforms of both AMTOI Website and India Natie platform.

The look and feel of the new AMTOI website gives a good experience to the visitor with lots of new features and online information. While AMTOI and its advantages are elaborately explained, some of the new features include the “Hot Links” section where you get information on Ports, Government Agencies and our International Associations. The “Downloads” section has an exhaustive list from Brochures, Publications, membership Applications to latest happenings via AMTOI news. The GRF has been explained with details about its constituents and functionalities along with the method on issue resolution.

As for India Natie, during this year’s Brea bulk conference in Antwerp in May 2015, a workshop was organised by Port of Antwerp where some of the AMTOI members were present. Through continuous interaction with all parties the platform has been kept up to date not only by debugging and tracking the coordinates of members but also by way of news, events, calendars etc. from all three stakeholders, namely, AMTOI, Port of Antwerp and VEA. The analysis report shows the amount of interest generated through this portal which is not only from the two concerned countries but other countries as well. More activities and developments are under planning for the coming year.

• MTOLicenseRenewal The Committee has assisted various members in the renewal process of their MTO license by representing the matter to the office of Director General of Shipping as well as guiding members in the correct interpretation of the act.

AMTOI has established a system to remind Members and offer assistance for renewal of licenses, which are held up for more than 60 days at DGS office.

• AMTOIAnnualDay AMTOI Annual Day was celebrated in a unique manner with the theme “Royal India” showcasing the royal heritage of India to its foreign and visiting dignitaries. This annual event was a watershed moment for AMTOI as it was done on a grand scale, which saw visiting dignitaries from Port of Antwerp, Port of Peel, VEA, and Dubai amongst others.

The event was attended by an eclectic mix of the shipping community including Mr. Deepak Shetty, Director General of Shipping, Mr. Gary Hodgson, COO-Peel Ports Group, Mr. Peter Faker, Sales Director-Peel Ports Group, Mr. Eddy Bruyninckx, CEO-Antwerp Port of Authority, Mr. Marc Van Peel, President-Antwerp Port of Authority, Mr. Luc Arnouts, CCO-Antwerp Port of Authority, Dr. Amol B Kirtane, Dy. Director General of Shipping, Mr. T.S. Balasubramanian, Member (Finance), TAMP, Mr. David Philips, Vice President-FIATA, Mr. Johan Proost, Managing Director-IPSEN Logsitics BVBA-Belgium, Mr. Olivier Schoenmaeckers-VEA, Ms. Akemi Sakamoto, Assist. • Publication(Weeklynewsletter/quarterlyAMTOINews) AMTOI is circulating a Weekly News Letter by mail to all its members. We are happy to inform you that there was no exception to this and 52 issues were circulated for the year 2014-2015 and from April 2015 to August 2015 19 issues have been circulated with important news and information on Shipping & Logistics industry to all its members.

AMTOI also has been releasing “AMTOI News” quarterly and of three issues have been circulated.

• Chapters Southern Region Chapter The Association has been able to enroll number of members from southern region through our Southern Region Chapter based in Chennai.

The Regional Committee of SRC is as follows:

The Chennai Chapter is very active in taking up issues faced by our Members in South India on a regular basis.

Major Events: A) AMTOI conducted 8th MC Meeting and 3rd EBM Meeting in Chennai on 1st April 2015.

The representatives of member associations of EB viz NACFS, CSLA, CCHAA, CHENSAA attended the meeting alongwith special invitee NAFL-Dubai

In the evening AMTOI held an interactive session on Taxation of its members. The event was appreciated by one and all as it was an excellent educational experience for existing and potential members of AMTOI wherein a lot of their Tax queries were answered.

In the evening of 1st April H.E. the Consul General of Belgium in Chennai Dr. Bart De Groof hosted a dinner at his seaside residence for visiting AMTOI MC Members, EC members of CHENSAA, selected members of the trade and the Port of Antwerp delegation, which was visiting Chennai at the time.

B) AMTOI SRC organized an event on 9th July 2015 in Chennai to establish a better connect between the South Indian Shipping Community and the port of Antwerp, Belgium.

The event was attended by Mr. William Demoor, Senior Advisor to the president of the Port of Antwerp & Mr. Raj Khalid, Consultant & Senior representative for the port of Antwerp in India.

The SRC extended an invitation to the heads of various related association such as NACFS, CHENSAA (The Chennai Steamer Agents Association), CCHAA (Chennai Customs

House Agents Association), & members of the MCCI (Madras Chamber of Commerce & Industry) who had visited Antwerp Port in 2012 as well as select members from AMTOI SRC.

Mr. Shantanu Bhadkamkar, Vice President, AMTOI & the Consul General for Belgium in Chennai, Dr. Bart De Groof were present on this momentous occasion.

Eastern Region Chapter AMTOI extending its wings to the Eastern part of India. The chapter will start its activities under the leadership convener Mr. Ashok Janakiram of Pennon Shipping Ltd, Kolkata.

AMTOI has identified Eastern India as its next area of activity after successful launch of its South India chapter started in Chennai two years ago. This is just the beginning, when all the initiatives come in to being, Eastern region will see a surge in multimodal transport activity. Foreseeing this development the Managing Committee of AMTOI decided to extend its activity to Eastern Part of India.

AMTOI Mumbai office made a presentation to the Kolkata shipping fraternity and explained the benefits of becoming a multimodal transport operator and how AMTOI can assist members of the trade in undertaking MTO activities effectively and efficiently in the region and beyond. Mr Xerxes Master MC member AMTOI articulated the nuances of being a registered Multimodal Transport Operators and being a member of AMTOI.

The coordinator of the local chapter Mr Ashok Janakiram advised the audience and the visiting AMTOI MC members as to how ASIC (Association of Shipping Interest, Calcutta) can assist in establishing AMTOI Kolkata Chapter and how being an MTO will help members of the trade to offer gamut of logistic services under one roof.

Mr Vardarajan of Shreyas Relay Systems and MC member, AMTOI made a presentation on coastal shipping, he briefed the audience about developments in the Indian Coastal Shipping scenario, the simplicity of its operations and how the shipping community at large can benefit by participating in the Coastal trade.

• Membership The Sub-Committee has been actively increasing the Member strength which has now grown to 223 members. The details of the same are as follows:

During course of this year AMTOI introduced the concept of Membership Numbers for all its Members. This will help the organization to track registration activity of all its members.

• CoastalShipping Mr. S. Varadarajan, MC Special Invitee gave a presentation during EB Meeting of 7th January 2015 in Mumbai and during the opening session Eastern Chapter Meeting on 4th August in Kolkata on Coastal shipping. Considering the importance and significance of Coastal Shipping in coming years it was decided to formulate a strategy to promote Coastal Shipping using the platform of AMTOI.

• Customs(PTFC–AIR/JNCH) AMTOI representative’s made representations to the different Custom Commisionerates’ and gave suggestions on how to ease day to day operational difficulties faced by our Members. The Sub Committee’s continues to represent all matters brought forward by its members at Nhava Sheva, Mumbai Airport & Chennai.

• OfficePremises As announced in the last AGM AMTOI identified a property in Santacruz (E) with Kalpataru Builders, the paper work for the same is in process.

12. IMPORTANT ACTIVITIES AND CONTRIBUTIONS OF AMTOI IN VARIOUS AREAS 1. AMTOI made RNI Registration for dispatching AMTOI News Magazine.

2. AMTOI Organised a session with Adani Hazira Port for BCHAA Members where in Adani ports gave a presentation about Hazira Port and Hon. Secretary Vivek Kele gave a presentation of on the topic “How to become an MTO and its advantages” and “Advantages of becoming a member of AMTOI”

3. AMTOI made a written Representation vide a letter dated 12th September 2014 to Director General of Shipping regarding Service Tax on ocean freight and freight difference.

4. AMTOI made a written Representation vide a letter 17th March 2015 to wrote a letter to Under Secretary, Transport Ministry, Govt of India regarding consultation with stakeholders on amendments to Multimodal Transportation of Goods (MMTG) Act.

5. AMTOI organised Service Tax presentation in Chennai on 1st April 2015.

6. President Mr. Sailesh Bhatia attended the FIATA Regional Convention in Dubai on 19th & 20th April 2015 and signed an MOU with NAFL in RAME conference held in Dubai.

7. AMTOI attended Civil Service Day celebration organised by DG Shipping on 24th April 2015 AMTOI Hon Secretary Mr. Vivek Kele.

8. AMTOI convened a meeting with IT Task Force constituted by MOS, GOI at JNPT Office, Mumbai on 30th July 2015.

9. AMTOI attended Meeting at Ministry of Shipping, Government of India, Delhi regarding Organisation of Maritime India Summit 2016 on 5th August 2015.

10. AMTOI wrote letter to Prime Minister, Ministry of Shipping & Chief Minister of Maharashtra regarding repeated disruption of work at JNPT – GTI Terminals vide a communication on 7th August 2015.

11. AMTOI attended meeting at DG Shipping regarding amendments to Regulation 2 of Chapter VI of Solas Convention on 11th August 2015.

i) in preparation of the annual accounts, the applicable Accounting Standards have been followed;

iii) Sub-clause (iv) is not applicable to our Association.
