We begin with a drive through the fields and pastures and into the mountains of our 1,400-acre farm, during which guests can see the grazing horses and cattle. The drive ends at the first platform 700 feet above sea level where guests begin the zip line experience. We have 11 different zip lines and a swinging bridge that are sure to provide excitement and fun for all. The longest cable line is 1,850 feet long and over 400 feet off the ground. At Hacienda Aventura safety is the number one priority, double lines and double pulley safety system is used to provide optimum protection for our visitors. An emergency break system ensures that guests have security and peace of mind during the whole journey. The guided tour does involve a few small hikes between platforms, during which we will often spot monkeys, iguanas, and other native wildlife. Our tour is open to children over 5 years of age, and it is sure to become the highlight of your Costa Rican experience. Bring: walking shoes, shorts or light long pants. Horseback Riding at Hacienda Pinilla Expansive savannas characterize Guanacaste’s territory. Its landscape is dotted with Haciendas (ranches) and vast areas of tropical dry forest, where wildlife abounds. Giant fichus trees, teak plantations, and yellow and pink oaks are found everywhere. “Sabaneros” are the brave hacienda workers (cowboys), who use Criollo horses for their everyday tasks. Keep your eyes open for wildlife and various species of tropical birds. Maximum weight limitations for participants apply on this tour. Children must be at least 12 years old and accompanied by a parent. Experience is necessary.

Guaitil Pottery Outside the busy town of Santa Cruz, there is a very small and unique establishment that sells beautiful pottery the same way the pre-Columbian Chorotega Indians created their goods. Hand wrought pots, jars, dishes, and urns painted with natural earth-based pigments before being fired in a stone kilns and polished with natural glaze. Your guide will take you around and explain the history of Costa Rica’s native Indians and their traditions, as well as their culture. You will notice how the traditions and culture of the native Indians is still exercised today. Art and souvenirs are available for purchase.

Shopping & Walking in Tamarindo On the way to Tamarindo Village, the closest town to Westin Resort, the route passes through small villages, cattle farmlands and awesome views of the close mountain range covered with tropical dry forest. During the journey your destination expert will brief you on important local information. Later at the Downtown Boulevard participants will visit several arts & crafts stores, art galleries and some local designer stores that sell beautiful and the most authentic batik and tied dye beach clothes produced locally. Free time will be allowed to revisit or to self-explore for new findings. Tamarindo Village is a town with an interesting blend of modern and local architecture. You will see open air restaurants, artisans selling inexpensive jewelry and small crafts on the sidewalks also enjoy the local appeal of this unique fishing-surfing coastal community.

ATV – Mountain Tour This mountain tour is considered one of the most exciting trips across the dry forest of Guanacaste region. The ride will take you by little local villages where you can learn about the rural life and find new sights. This is a good opportunity to spot the wildlife and be in contact with nature. This great experience will make this trip simply unforgettable. Experience on ATV driving is a must! Please bring clothes that are already dirty as you will come back either dusty or muddy. Surfing Lessons at Tamarindo Tamarindo beach if the famous surfing beach in the area, it offers many areas where beginners or experienced enthusiasts practice and learn this great sport.

Age is not an issue, if you always wanted to learn how to surf this may be your opportunity.

Surfing lessons are a great way to bring your family, friends, or team members together and learn the beautiful art of surfing. Whether you are a beginner or experienced surfer, to be in contact with the ocean is a great experience.

Swimming experience is required.

Ocean Kayak & Snorkeling Tour The warm dazzling waters in Tamarindo bay invite you to jump in a kayak and paddle to a small tropical island where you can enjoy a guided underwater snorkeling expedition and relax on the beach. Wave Runner tour (2 hours) For this tour you will be provided with an automatic wave runner, safety jacket, helmet and safety instructions for an exciting tour of the Pacific coastline. The adrenaline filled ride will take approximately one hour of beautiful ocean delight. You will see the beaches of Conchal, Brasilito, Potrero, Flamingo and Sugar Beach. We recommend that drivers of the wave runner have experience driving semi-automatic jet ski.

Jungle Boat Safari at Palo Verde National Park & Hacienda El Viejo.

Palo Verde National Park is set on the Tempisque River basin. It provides shelter for a great variety of bird species. The boat ride on the Tempisque River is one of the best bird watching tours in the country. As you cruise along the river, you will spot a fabulous array of wild birds and a myriad of creatures, such as howler monkeys, green iguanas and coatis. The park comprises 14,100 acres of tropical dry forest, protecting a wide variety of wildlife, lakes, grasslands, and woodlands. It’s a bird watcher’s paradise!

Rincon de la Vieja National Park

Enjoy an exciting day of hiking through the bountiful Rincon de La Vieja National Park with an experienced naturalist guide. During this nature hike you will be neighboring the main entrance of the most visited Rincon de la Vieja Volcano section “Las Pailas”. During the hike witness hot boiling mud fumaroles, steaming rivers, and mini craters. The trekking will take you through virgin cloud forests, and small waterfalls. The hike may be challenging. We offer shorter hikes within the park that includes visits to waterfalls and mud fumaroles. Lunch will be served at the “Cañon de La Vieja” Restaurant.

Buena Vista Eco tour (4 in 1) At the base of the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano, Hacienda Buena Vista is a charming family ranch comprising of 4,000 acres, with 60% of the land covered with primary forest. Hacienda Buena Vista is the perfect place for nature and adventure lovers. Its main attractions are the canopy tour, suspended bridges, water slides, thermal waters, steam baths, a natural spa, waterfalls and horseback riding. This activity is a full-day adventure, beginning with an energizing hike through primary forests. Colorado Canyon Zip line Adventure & River Tubing The zip line adventure tour is an adventure like no other. You will experience great heights and thrills as you fly over the canyon of the Colorado River. After some instruction you will zip line from platform to platform on steel cables feeling the adrenaline as you take in the panoramic views of the forest, the canyon and the nature surrounding you. You will also walk across a hanging bridge and fly over the trees. The zip line provides 9 lines and 14 platforms crossing 8 times the Colorado Canyon with a total length of 3630 feet. Once the zip line tour is over, all participants will descend the class I and II rapids of the Rio Colorado Canyon. Each person will be provided with a life jacket and helmet.
