THIS & THAT
Happiness is in Heaven but the joy is in the journey.
To make a difference in the world, let Jesus make a differ-ence in you.
CHRIST is the only third party in marriage who can make it work.

Lynn and I had the privilege of representing the Association at the annual
Southern Baptist Convention held in Phoenix, AZ in mid-June. Knowing that
we might never get as close to the Grand Canyon again, we went a few days
early and visited the great wonder of the world. I do not have words to de-
scribe the massiveness and beauty of the Canyon. As we stood and marveled at
the sight the thought of our Awesome God was in my mind.
Also during the time Lynn and I attended the Southern Baptist Convention
Associational Leaders workshop, we were challenged in our service to the
churches in our Association.
At the Convention there were wonderful reports, including one from the
International Mission Board (IMB) noting that the Board is now financially
secure and is sending more missionaries to the field rather than withdrawing.
We also had the privilege to participate in a commissioning service for about
40 new missionaries. A troubling report was that baptisms last year were at the
lowest number since the great depression. Delegates were encouraged to have
many “Gospel Conversations”. There was also a big push in discipleship.
One issue that gained national news time was the passing of a resolution
denouncing the alt-right movement. When this resolution came forward, I did
not know what the alt-right movement was and is. After not being recom-
mended, due to “inflammatory language”, by the resolution committee a
tweeter firestorm erupted which did not reflect the attitude of those in the con-
vention hall. The next day, due to rules of order, a reworded resolution was
presented and passed unanimously.
Please keep Lynn and me, and four others in your prayers as we will be in
Haiti, July 8-16. The team will be doing Vacation Bible School during the
mornings and a medical clinic in the afternoons.
The annual mission trip to the Copper Basin Crisis Center is coming up. The
trip will be Sept. 3-8. The cost is $125.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve the Churches of Tattnall-Evans and thank you for your support of the Association.

Good Morning Jesus; Thank you for loving us and blessing us! Hello All,
Hope you are feeling the spiritual blessing that the Lord is pouring on each of us! We are coming into the planning stages of some of the upcoming Men’s Ministry Projects. I am excited with the prospects of our association com-ing together in fellowship and love. We can do all thing through Christ who strengthens us! (Phil 4:13). We will be having a Men’s Ministry Committee meeting in July to discuss plans and prepare teams to start our first project at Conner’s Baptist. Please be praying and preparing yourselves to volunteer your time and skills when the time comes. Hope to see you in the blessing to come!

Women With a Heart for God’s Work
Association-wide WMU Update
Dear Sisters in Christ, Summer is finally here, and our Ladies of WMU have been busy in our churches with VBS, Mother's Day, and Father's Day celebrations!! We are also preparing our children to go to church camps. Evergreen's WMU went to the Baptist Children's Home in Baxley, GA to help with the "Special Needs" children while they were at Camp Hawkins on June 15th. This was such a blessing to our ladies!! This camp is offered three weeks in June every year. Our WMU is preparing for July 4th with our families and our churches to honor all our veterans & military for their service to our country!! God is good all the time. All of our ladies need to be thinking about what mission project they can do for "Christmas In August". WMU Ladies, whatever mission you decide to do, as long as you're serving the Lord, you are doing what God wants us to do!! Yours In Christ, Sandra Powell

How Do You Share the Gospel?
Charles Spurgeon was one of the greatest preachers
of all times, often filling halls with 6,000 to 8,000
people crowded in to hear him share the Gospel. One
night, after he had delivered a particularly stirring
message, a rather stern looking elderly woman wait-
ed among the throngs to speak with the great
preacher. “I don’t care for the way you preach the
Gospel, sir. You are far too overweight; it does not
become a man of God. You smoke cigars, which is a
terrible witness for the Kingdom of God. You often
get so worked up while preaching you even spit while
speaking. I tell you, sir, I just do not like the way you
share the Gospel.”
“I see,” said Spurgeon. “And tell me, madam, how do
you share the Gospel?”
“Well, I don’t,” she stammered.
Spurgeon gazed at her and replied, “Well, I must say,
I like my way better.”
Should your church require any stained glass repair.

In 2017, Georgia Baptists are once again partnering with Ap-palachian Regional Ministries to provide
Backpacks of Hope. The new name, Backpacks of Hope, reflects an additional emphasis in southwest Georgia as well as Appalachia. The
state goal for 2017 is 35,000 backpacks.
The additional resources for each backpack are available at the Association office - Tags, “The Christmas Story,” and A.R.M. Mailbox Bible Club Cards. Please contact the
T.E.B.A. office at 739-9040 and provide us with the num-ber of backpacks your church is committing to provide so that we can get these resources pulled together for you.
As an additional help in providing the Backpacks www.Baptist.dollardays.com is a website that allows
Baptist Churches to join and purchase supplies including backpacks at a discounted price. For those interested in taking advantage of the discount pricing but have no internet access you can also
contact them by phone at 1-877-837-9569.
