ASSOCIATED OREGON LOGGERS, INC.2

The Mission of AOLBeing successful in your own business is one of the most rewarding achievements that a person can attain. Not only will it provide economic rewards, it is also confirmation of one’s faith in themselves that they can succeed in today’s complex business world.

The challenge faced by the Contract Logger and the businesses associated with this endeavor has never been greater. While independence is a goal for all of us, we realize that we stand a much greater chance for success if we have the right help.

Associated Oregon Loggers, Inc. was created by loggers for loggers, and its sole purpose is to do everything in its power to assist loggers in their quest for success.

ABOUT AOL

AOL HistoryThe Association was first incorporated under the name of Cascade Loggers Association on March 19, 1969. The stated purposes of the Association were:• To unite the independent loggers of counties covered by the geographic boundaries

of Douglas, Lane, Linn, Benton, Lincoln, Deschutes and Klamath counties.• The general purpose was to foster, encourage and conduct educational programs,

and to improve and make more uniform the regulations and business of logging.• To attempt through various means to improve the public image of the general

logging industry on behalf of the independent logger membership.• To cooperate with other organizations or associations involved in general forest

industries or the manufacture of forest products in promoting the general welfare of the forest industry. These original articles of incorporation were amended approximately six months

later to change the name to Associated Oregon Loggers, Inc.—reflecting the statewide interests of the Association.

This change allowed for statewide membership of independent loggers and provided for associate memberships. Today, the membership is located in four geographically defined districts: Northwest, Mid Valley, Southwest and Eastern. Each district is represented on the association’s Board of Directors by elected representatives.

A full-time staff provides assistance and representation for AOL members.

The Goals of AOL• To provide cost-effective business services specifically tailored for the independent

contract logger and related businesses.• To be recognized as a major force in Oregon politics.• To bring reason and practicality to those regulatory issues that confront the

contract logger.• To work through all possible avenues to acquire and maintain an acceptable supply

of timber from all landowner sources.• To build favorable public climate for timber harvest and forestry businesses,

and communicate logging industry facts.• To facilitate events and communications allowing interaction between fellow contract

loggers, their related business associates, and others they work with and for.• To recognize timber harvest professionalism, as well as promote sustainable

Oregon forests and continuing education for loggers and forest operators.• To further the cause of forest science, education, and public understanding

of actively managed forests through recognition and grant programs.
