2019-2020 Associate in Arts in Social Justice Studies for Transfer Degree
Complete the following program of study (Major C.7611.AA-T). Major requirements (18 units minimum). The Associate in Arts in Social Justice Studies (General) for Transfer degree is a study in the field of
social justice. Whereas sociology is the study of society, the social construction of reality and social interaction with an emphasis on how social structure creates inequality based on group membership, such as ethnicity, class and gender, social justice is an interdisciplinary field of study that permits students to focus on the intersection of gender, ethnicity/race, class, and sexual orientation, as pertaining to issues of politics, economics, environment, and education. Students may study social justice issues in local, national, and international arenas, examining social movements and social changes so that they may become more informed citizens and community leaders.
