• Dialog Axiata PLC is the largest telecommunications service provider in Sri Lanka with the country's largest mobile network operator of over 11.068 million subscribers.

• Dialog commands a 50% of the Sri Lankan mobile market.

•  Dialog is a subsidiary of Axiata Group Berhad which owns 83.32% controlling stake of the company while the rest is held by the public.

• As of February 2016 Dialog Axiata holds LKR 81.4 billion (US$566 million) in market capitalization and the 5th largest listed company in Sri Lanka by Market Capitalization.

• In 2015 "Dialog" brand name was valued at LKR 28.6 billion (US$204 million) and as the 3rd most valuable brand in the country.

The Parent Company (AXIATA Group Berhad)

• AXIATA Group Berhad (previously known as TM International Berhad), is a Malaysian telecommunications company which has extensive operations in Asia.

• Axiata is one of the leading telecommunications groups in Asia with over 300 million subscribers in ten countries.

• Axiata’s primary business is in investment holding and the provision of telecommunication and consultancy services on an international scale.

• Formerly known as TM International Bhd (TMI), the company was incorporated on 12 June 1992.

• On 2nd April 2009, TMI underwent a rebranding exercise, launching its new name, “Axiata” , with a new logo .

• Their new tagline, Advancing Asia, was also launched, reflecting the direction of the company in focusing their expansion within Asia.

• Group revenue for 2015 was RM19.9 billion (USD5.1 billion).

Dialog Axiata supplements its market leading position in the Mobile Telecommunications sector with a robust footprint and market presence in Sri Lanka’s Fixed Telecommunications and Digital Pay Television markets through its fully-owned subsidiaries Dialog Broadband Networks (Private) Ltd (DBN) and Dialog Television (Private) Ltd.

Dialog Broadband Networks DBN is Sri Lanka’s second largest Fixed Telecommunications service provider, serving residential and enterprise customers with voice, broadband, lease lines and customized telecommunication services. DBN is also a leading provider of Radio and Optical Fibre-based transmission infrastructure facilities.

DBN has the distinction of being the first telecommunications operator in Sri Lanka to launch 4th Generation LTE High Speed Broadband Services.

Dialog Television• Dialog Television is a Direct To Home (DTH)

satellite television service operated by Dialog.

• DTV supports a broad array of international and local content in both Standard Definition (SD) and High Definition (HD) formats together with a wide of Sri Lankan television channels and delivers high quality infotainment to a viewer base of 650,000 Sri Lankan households.

• It provides international content including CNN, BBC, HBO, Cinemax, AXN, Star Sports, Discovery Channel, MTV and Cartoon Network, in addition to a collection of Sri Lankan television channels.

Dialog MobileSince the late 90′s Dialog Mobile spearheaded the exponential growth of the country’s mobile telecommunication sector, propelling it to a status on par with the developed world. Dialog operates on a 2.5G, 3G, 3.5G and 4G communications network that support the very latest in multimedia and mobile internet, coupled with the distinction of being the first service provider in South Asia to launch mobile 4G FD-LTE services

History Of Dialog Axiata• Dialog was incorporated in 1993 as MTN Networks (Private) Limited with 90% of equity through

Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) and 10% by Capital Maharaja being the local promoters to the investment. At the time of setup, MTN was the 4th entry to the Sri Lankan Mobile market which already had 3 established operators.

• In 1995 just after 2 years of incorporation MTN Networks began its commercial operations under the brand name Dialog GSM.

• In 1996, the local promoters separated their stake providing complete ownership of MTN Networks to Telekom Malaysia. In mid-1997 Hans Wijayasuriya was appointed as the CEO of MTN Networks.

• In March 2005 MTN Networks Pvt Ltd unveiled its new corporate identity as Dialog Telekom .

• In 2005 December Dialog Telekom Acquired 100% stake of MTT Network Pvt Ltd. At the time of Acquisition MTT was the leading digital transmission and backbone provider for other Cellular operators and television stations.

• In 2006 December Dialog Telekom completed takeover of troubled DTH satellite television provider CBN SAT (Private) Ltd . CBNsat was re branded as Dialog TV and operates as a fully owned subsidiary of Dialog Telekom.

• In 2009 was the first mobile operator to extend its GSM network to the areas in the North and East Province

• In April 2013 Dialog Axiata launched its mobile 4G LTE services .

Achievements of Dialog Axiata• A winner of six GSMA Mobile World Awards including

the years 2016 and 2015.• Dialog has the distinction of being voted by Sri

Lankan consumers as the Telecom Service Provider of the Year for five successive years and Internet Service Provider of the Year at the SLIM-Nielsen People’s Choice Awards.

• They were awarded as the Best Mobile Money Service for their “eZ Cash” and the Best Technology Enabler for their “IdeaMart” in the year 2015.

Corporate Social Responsibility • The Nenasa project by Dialog Telekom in collaboration with the Ministry

of Education is aimed at giving rural students the opportunity to engage in interactive learning from experienced teachers, through the use of state of the art technology. Dialog has donated 2,000 televisions to connect schools around the island.

• Project ‘Com-unity’ - initiated as part of the Dialog Volunteer Network (DVN) Challenge 2014, was aimed at providing access to poor farmers and their families to clean drinking water in areas where pipe-water supply is unavailable.

• Under the DVN programme, a group of 16 team members selected a school deprived of the most basic facilities. The team’s primary goal had been the construction of a water supply system for the school children and villagers living close to the school. Families residing close to the school had also been given access to the water supply and outdoor showers had been fixed for their use.

• The Ratmalana Audiology Centre (RAC), an unique partnership with the Ceylon School for the Deaf and Blind, has for seven years provided free hearing tests to the students of the School and qualifying members of the public by paying customers for its world-class hearing tests, speech therapy and sales of high-quality, custom-calibrated hearing devices at affordable prices

Criticisms Against Dialog

Alleged blocking of a political program

In December 2014, Dialog TV was assumed of blocking a political discussion featuring the opposition candidate of the 2015 presidential election, Maithripala Sirisena. Mr. Sirisena eventually became the president of the country.

Alleged obstruction of justice

In December 2015, Dialog Axiata and its Chief Executive Hans Wijayasuriya came under public scrutiny for allegedly withholding evidence in investigations that were being carried out by the Sri Lanka Police and Criminal Investigation Department (CID) into the murders of several public figures.
