The Looper(Action) There are a MOB in control to kill time

jumpers.

The MOB realised that the time jumper

was not killed and Joe had let him go

and therefore they had a runner.

Joe and older Joe was in search of

different things and realised that the

things which they were looking for

was closer than they thought

In the process Joe had found his mum

as they are back in time and all there

questions were answered

Younger Joe found out that he was the

person he was looking for and Older

Joe realised that he had to kill himself

in order to live longer with the people

he loved in younger Joes life.

Joe kills himself and stops the circle

No, there is a clear non-linear narrative and the structure was jumped up due to time traveling

The Beginning of the movie had started off with the result and the one of the last scene.

During the movie, it went back into time and showed the audience how Old Joe got stuck into his predicament.

Old Joe constantly thought about his ‘beautiful’ wife who got killed.

Both Joe and Joes mother reminisce times of there childhood tantrums.

How the film uses conventional narrative structure (Act 1)

Act 1(set up)-the movie starts with the conclusion and what actions have caused Old Joe into.

With this, the movie creates the story and slowly builds up the conflict as Young Joe hesitates to shoot Old Joe.

Old Joe is near death

Old Joe and Young Joe is talking in the cafe

Problems escalate in the café

Issues begin after leaving the cafe

How the film uses conventional narrative structure (Act 2) Act 2(conflict)-the movie builds up as Old Joe has now explained to young Joe that he is

himself in the future and why he has come back.

With this, the search began for both Joe’s and they were in search of the rain man however due to the ‘runner ’ who was meant to be killed(also known as Older Joe), Younger Joe had to be discreet as the MOB are after him .

Explanation of why Older Joe has come back to change the future.

Younger Joe is in search of any clues, information or people which would help him find what he is looking for.

Younger Joe has discovered a house and believes it is going to be targeted but also believes it’s a family members.

Younger Joe Protects the targeted house from the MOB. Due to lack of trust he sleeps and stays in the shed

How the film uses conventional narrative structure (Act 3) In act 3,(resolution)-the main establishments of characters have been made and

the problems have been shown to the audience such as who is the rain man and who is Joes mother.

With this, the rain man was also discovered and the acts of a resolution has

occurred.Younger Joe has discovered his mother and the story of why he has born with his ‘aunt’.

Both younger and older Joe as well as their mother fight off the MOB.

Older Joe wanted to kill ‘the rain man’ but Joes mother was stopping this from occurring.

Younger Joe was willing to kill himself to stop the circle and the killing of the ‘rain man’ as he is a young boy. Finally Joes mother and the ‘the rain man’ reunite.

Why have the film makers used this conventional structure?

The film maker used this non-linear narrative structure to create a sense of mystery.

This also gives the film an edge instead of the usual linear structure, straight from the beginning .

What impact does it have on the audience?

This also allows the audience to think from the beginning and catching there attention.

Also with an non-linear narrative structure, this can allow the audience to immediately engage and watch the movie to satisfy there needs as they may could feel confused.

What audience expectations have they established or challenged by using this structure?

They challenged the audiences view points on the narrative structure as it allowed the audience to question from the beginning and could have left confusion due to the constant changing of time and lack of understanding.

However, it creates a sense of establishment as through the changing of times which occurred allows and creates mystery which is meant to be structured in such way for the audience to soon establish why and how Young and Old Joe had gotten into such predicament.
