The use of camera shots and angles which is used in not only characters but props also. The twisted thoughts on the

cliché (views of the children being drug addicts) drug abuse inspired me into thinking outside of the box.

The use of two shot in a realistic environment allowed me to see the two characters sharing dialogue and also the setting.

What type of opening sequence is it?(montage/teaser/ start of

film/establishing characters etc.)

The type of opening sequence is Montage.

Why have you chosen this type?

I chose this type of opening sequence because I thought it would be more

effective and shows shorts cutting of elements of the lead up to the conflict.

What film(s) is similar to yours?

My potential opening sequence is similar to ‘Kidulthood’, ‘The break up 'and ‘Half-Nelson’.

Page 7: Assignment 12

The structure of my opening sequence is non-linear as it does not have a conventional narrative

structure and is not a contemporized modular narrative.

Also the opening sequence of which I can up with will consist of the theorists Cameron ways such as forking path and split screens.

Levi- Strass believes the world is described in binary opposites.

He believed opposition offered structure to texts including

stories, plays, books, and films Levi-Strauss was added into my idea as the scene was set in the day time and night, both indoors and

outdoors.

In relation to the genre, the conventions presented are:

Conventions Explanation

Conflict/harassment- this is reinforced as there is usually conflict due to both important and trivial matters .This is to keep the audience on edge whilst making it realistic.

Battle between two or more rivals-

this is reinforced as the battle is between the main character and her best friend (indirectly) but also her boyfriend. This is reinforced so some elements are included so therefore my opening sequence would be recognised as a drama.

Racial Prejudice- this is challenged as there is no racial prejudice presented. This is reinforced because I didn’t want my audience to think my opening sequence is too cliché.

Discrimination- again this is challenged as there is no battle between the classes. This is so that is doesn’t deflect from the focus point.

Realistic Events- this is reinforced as realistic events occur within drama films. Allowing the audience to relate would allow them to stay connected with my presentation and can allow them to express specific emotions within a particular topic and also seeing how others may cope with it.

Page 11: Assignment 12

I would have the titles and credits which break away on screen which highlights the drama between the two and also the clash which makes things realistically fall apart.

This a prime example of the Title sequences fragmenting.
