    Scanning has had finer times

The first count yielded 113 passing pedestrians, another 33stationary, 15 cyclists and 7 cars; the last, at 2.30, yielded 70pedestrians of which 8 were stationary, 5 cyclists and no carsIt was at this latter time that the previous sketch was made.

Traffic across Nytorv was interrupted long ago. Three motor

streets border it still, but are mostly irrelevant to the activitydynamics, dominated by walking public

There is a polarity to the squares arrangement, its higher endcontraposed to the plainness of the courthouse esplanade

towards which it leansOne wonders to what extent presence loci vary in function of the fountains seasonal relativeattractivenessit must be the places focal point during the warm months, whereas it isshunned actively in the cooling weather

Illumination, regular and effective and perfectly dispassionate,

protects all from every nocturnal eventuality including having toomuch fun

A generally coherent, generally pleasant wall of housesdelineates Nytorv

The courthouse, its most noticeable building, exists in a realm ofits own

It is built in the same size as its neighbours but not to the samescaleIn the same space into which other buildings fit five rows of windows the courthouse fits onlytwo.

Its detachment from the ground level is latent, and emphasisedby a lack of trees or other elements of jolly to soften therobustness of the facade

Something along those lines is the matter with the Danske BankbuildingBut it is nowhere as drastic.

The 7 / 11 on the western side is a beautifully chosen piece ofbusiness estate and also oftentimes the generator of whateverbuzz there is off the treaded path in Nytorv

it is very nice to just have stone somewhereas is the case in Nytorv

    because it keeps you safe

    from time

    for a pretty long time

but it is very nice to not have just stone because then you can

    gain something

    with time

The square is inhospitable and uncomfortable

There is nothing evident for anybody to do in its hollow centre, and its edges are poorly fitted for use too

The half-dozen benches (in a square the size of a footballstadium) are the most consistently preferable seating optionsSteps scattered throughout the space readily volunteer themselves to the pedestrian chiller, but fail to captivate due to their rudimentariness.

An overwhelming majority of the pedestrian traffic on Strgetcrosses Nytorv indifferently

Such a nice spot could be made if somebody got to work onthat seating

Likewise, much would be gained by bringing in some well-placedtrees(unless a lot were to be lostis there a good reason it has not been done yet?)

Nytorv would start being less an enclosure, more an opening. As it is now it is unnecessarilystark.

It is not ultimately the nicest

All the nice things you have to pay forand besides as soon as the two skimpy overpriced terrace cafs shut there is no reason to stillbe out there

The pissoir is definitely a hot spot but its retention beyond 2minutes is minimal

There are a couple good places around the square to stay thenight but overall it is too windy and you would be better offcamping around Torvehallerne because there the wind is brokenbetter
