Healthy Youth
One common focus – Today’s Youth
In today’s society, we are constantly bombarded with messages about problems (or the results of problems) facing our young people.
And we have invested a lot of time – and considerable expense- in trying to
fix these problems.
A growing movement… addressing
deeper causes & needs.
“What do young people need to navigate successfully through infancy, childhood, and adolescence?”
Positive Youth Development
“The movement’s fundamental assumption… is that enduring positive results in a youth’s life are most effectively achieved by tending to basic needs for guidance, support and involvement, and not by surgical interventions aimed at removing problems.”
Public/Private Ventures. (2000). Youth development: Issues, challenges, and directions. Philadelphia, PA.

Considering the young people in your community…..
Who is already involved in building assets in your community?
How can more young people be reached?
Imagine 10 years from now, or a generation from now…
What kind of community would you like to live in?
What can you do today?
